  1. It's been on the BBC website for a while now, and it has now made the BBC World Service TV bulletin!
  2. Avoiding the "bleedin' obvious" ! George Segal
  3. The 51st State (Formula 51 in States I think)
  4. Bloody Hell! Out of probably 100s of movies she has made; I pick a duplicate Let's try They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
  5. You start to wish that maybe you weren't around in the sixties as the 20/20s approach!! but you are right with regards to the music snd "scene" though IMHO. Can never decide between "Paint it Black" (The incessance of Charlie's drumming) or "Sympathy for the Devil", as my favourite Stones tracks.
  6. No question, Novak is on a way higher level than any others now. He needs to have a really "off" day for Andy Murray or anybody else to beat him nowadays.
  7. One of my favourite classical/rock type tracks (just the music unfortunately) with Annie Haslam starting off in almost pure classical form, and Roy Wood slowly invading to reach a typical Wood/ELO rocking crescendo. Probably the best female voice (5 octave range!!!) to have graced the prog/classic/rock scene, most notably with Renaissance.
  8. I have always knocked and mocked the compulsary, until 3rd year, Latin that I had to learn at school. However I do suspect that learning that stuff albeit mostly forgotten, is probably the reason that I find other languages so easy to pick up. Getting the various types of word in the right order in particular; English is quite peculiar in that respect, and is one of the reasons that it is considered a difficult language to learn in it's own right.
  9. To the strains of Traffic; Here we go round the Mulberry Bush
  10. Yes, definitely variable standard. A goodfriend of mine always stays at SS, and regularly uses King's Table (One of the restaurants providing room or foyer service for the hotel). He regularly comments ( or whines really ) on the varying quality of his normal dishes from day to day!As EP says, it is similar to many average type eateries around the town, but it does have a good location with the surrounding hotels.
  11. Absolutely; and of course no Brit has won the Australian Open, since it went "open", which is why I highlighted the steps made in reaching Semis. Andy Murray could still win, but I wouldn't bank on him beating Djokovic nor his semi opponent really. Australian tennis seems to be plummeting to those depths achieved by the UK though, 40 years now since one last won the Aus. Open, and no prospects on the horizon. Much the same with the Ladies as well, with Goolagong the last success I think. Hard to understand as to why Oz tennis has fallen so much! Rod Laver was the greatest ever in the world IMH
  12. I loved the Clash, and still give Sandanista a regular airing. They were actually a very "poppy" band, and many of their songs would have had a far greater mainstream appeal, had they not be linked to "punk". A lot of groups were classed as punk, but really weren't; Stranglers, Siouxsie etc.
  13. Both mens and ladies semi-finals have Brits competing. (Although there are many would say that neither are British! Not me though. ) Unheard of in modern times , best of luck to both of them, especially Johanna Konta, who is in virgin territory. : Her voice/accent absolutely resembles some tv/film or other celebrity,...Can't match it yet though!
  14. I'm surprised you didn't quote post #115 Wac, you obviously don't have my "vicious" sense of humour or irony There is nothing I would like more , other than the obvious improbability, than to see Leicester press on and win the league. I wouldn't however, be "rushing to the bookies" to support that outcome. I do think they will end up in the top 4 though. Their transfer targets for this window would be really beneficial if they come off, giving them the needed back-up. I see Chelski are being linked with ol' Sicknote himself. (Van Persie), desperation stakes there!
  15. One of those multi-star movies that you would have a good chance just guessing actors names! Sean Bean
  16. It's gotta be "mini-me"Verne Troyer
  17. Oh my Golly Gosh ! (Insert elongated swearing diatribe!) Losing to Southampton at Old Trafford, after my last embarrassing post! Come on Bobby, ditch the bugger, even if it means letting "Shagger" take over again in the interim until a suitable manager comes available! It couldn't do any more harm ! That Arsenal v Chelski match is going to have to go some to beat the Norwich v Scousehampton "netball" match yesterday . (I was going to refer to "rugby scores" but 4 is impossible!) Good for neutrals, but I'm not sure that I would be over-joyous as a supporter, even on the winning side! Mignol
