  1. If it is authentic Chinese dim sum, rather than the more inferior (IMHO), but cheaper Thai Chinese version that you are after; then I have always found the Marco Polo restaurant at the Montien hotel to be the best. Don't forget to visit the ATM first though. I tried one of those largish looking places on North Road that seems to almost exclusively deal with bussed in Asian tourists, and was put off from ever visiting one of them again! It was awful, : and relatively expensive too. A fellow "foodie" recommended avoiding the place in Central Festival (Canton or similar name), and I have not t
  2. Firehouse I knew well ! Next door to the old Baby go-go before it was partitioned, and with as has also been stated Caligula's almost opposite. The only "Fire & Ice" I can remember was a rather nondescript bar on Soi 7 or maybe it was Soi 8. Howzabout a couple of more "downmarket" and sleazy specimens; The Red Cat and Europa?
  3. One of the most gruesome movies I have ever seen courtesy of Sophon!.... The Midnight Meat Train
  4. Can be "dodgy". Voluntary charity aid workers etc. have fallen foul of the authorities in this respect on numerous occasions. I was led to believe that the husband of the "original" donner kebab stall operator covering Soi 8 area back in the 90s, who prepared the "rotating elephants dick" at home, was charged under the regulation.
  5. I think that if Moaninho was on his way to us, he would be there , or negotiating anyway, now. I think they do have a face in mind (but not Guardiola IMHO), but are reluctant to change before the end of season. We are, after all, in this very open season, still well placed for Champions League qualification, and could still win the league, no matter how unwarranted with style of play. Keeping hold of De Gea is tantamount though. I still am thinking Laurent Blanc in the summer, or when PSG depart the Champions league, but would be happy enough pissing off Spurs, and poaching Pocahontas! I wou

  7. They have also stopped offering "good deals" inthe premium classes, which is where the profits are. My particular type of ticket with them would now be 2.5 times as much, compared to when they were trying to compete with Emirates, a couple of years back.
  8. Flash Gordon ( A-ah , Saviour of the Universe )
  9. I find that a "side order" shot of Jagermeister does that for me! ...But follows!
  10. My penchant is for the similar Victory V Lozenge, ( even though they removed the chloroform and ether from the ingredients!) but have problems finding them nowadays, Best up at the Dolphin roundabout had them for a while, but stopped supplying after I emptied the box many years back!
  11. Maybe bothering ones arse to get the Thai translation for liquorice/licorice (cha-ehm) prior to your hunt for a one-off item could help the "highly educated" shop assistants?!
  12. I hope the Scousehampton v United game meets the optimistic expectations, but I fear a rather dreary low scorer may be the outcome. Both Klopp and LVG were not overly impressed with their respective sides letting in 3 goals apiece mid-week, and may well revert to "type" for this match. Stoke v Arsenal later on could be a better spectacle. Most of Arsenal's remaining away games (7 of them) are against the top 10 sides, so they will need to win against the likes of Stoke in these types of game, IMHO, if they are to win the league. Just for want of variety, I hope that Manchester City don't come
  13. I get the feeling that there is a bit of "cartelling" going on with the 3 main airlines. Although dealing with 1st, I was waiting for ages for Emirates to drop their fare as in previous years. It didn't happen, and still hasn't, but I did get the normal reduced price by going through an agency rather than directly through Emirates. I don't have so many options for my flights emanating from Dubai though. We need one of them to "break away" and come out with a good "offer", the others would then have to start thinking.
  14. I did find one other (but only coz' I cheated)and that was un-credited too..... Lolita That's the "long" fellow!....Mad Max but not sure which ones so I'll take a punt on the middle one.. Mad Max 2
  15. Well I've cheated now, so cannot respond...., but I have to call foul on that one. He does remain un-credited in the movie, despite it being well known; which transgresses the "laws according to Judge Jacko", : in post no. 1.
  16. Not sure where you actually travel from Jacko, but Qatar has the 787 "dreamliner" flying out of Birmingham now, as well as Edinburgh. The biz accomodation is much better on them (same as their A380s) than the Airbusses they use on the Manchester route.
