  1. Liverpool should really be up for this one; with Chelski's cock-up yesterday. I reckon a draw though, as long as we are not concentrating too much on the midweek CL match. Could be a good weekend for wingeing Wenger tho. Spurs look truly crap. Sherwood is talking of a "summer clearout"; 10 players and himself might not be enough, what a waste of a huge windfall last summer. Has that Lamela even played for them yet ?
  2. Mistaking her for Elke Sommer ????
  3. Actually I find "authentic" Chinese " peasant cuisine" to be quite disgusting, and can't say I was over enamoured with genuine Mexican food either ( but that is probably tainted by being served up what was literally a couple of chicken wings floating around in a bowl of greasy water !); but I do really like tex-mex, and would venture that most Brits think of Tex-Mex as Mexican food, including supposed "Mexican" restaurants. I think the OP needs to get Patna in to re-photograph some of those dishes!
  4. If indeed this is/was a hijacking ( and for the sake of the innocents onboard I sincerely hope it is, and a successful one at that), never in a million years are the authorities going to release genuine information on it, if negotiations are being entered into, or an option.
  5. This one is getting weirder and weirder. The latest reports and deployment of assets to Indian Ocean will not have been made without genuine "intelligence", and if so, why... with no tangible claims being made by the normal suspects. Just musing from a "waccy" angle, could it be the Somalis have upped their piracy "game"? One thing for sure is my conception of international air traffic control and tracking appears to have been far less effective and capable than I understood it to be.
  6. Sorry, my reply was the British title.... I have a great interest in maritime related films, and have this one on an old vhs video ( recorded of the TV I think) back in UK. I too have now "Wikkied" it and mlc is absolutely correct with the USA titling also "Seven Days from Now" apparently. Good movie, and IMHO better than Hitchcock's Lifeboat, to which it is often compared; But in its time, upsetting for a lot of viewers. "Edit in" So to resume Seven Waves Away, aka Abandon Ship, aka Seven Days from Now !
  7. Fraudulently, to gain both recompense and notriety ....Yes. Very often involving bimbos trying to get a pay off from people not wanting adverse publicity. "Most" media organs would leave well alone. The CBS article at least reports the almost total uncorroboration of any of the facts or players.
  8. Sorry, I wasn't clear there; my problems were occuring at Abu Dhabi airport.
  9. To one of my fave old timers, despite its alledged innacuracies: - Mutiny on the Bounty
  10. Call me over-cynical but every one of those photos look photo-shopped to me; and the whole article stinks, but is probably typical of that type of Ozzie reporting, which makes the UK tabloid shite actually look responsible. At its very very best it is just a piece of gossip in appalling poor taste, especially to grieving family, about a guy who has almost certainly just died.BTW rant is not directed at the poster, rather the scum set up in the link.
  11. A couple of years back I complained to them about continually "parking" the Manchester flight (both inbound and outbound) on the tarmac involving a bus trip to the old terminal and then a long old hike thru' the airport to their dedicated new Terminal 3, which always had many airbridges available. Aircraft was always on time arriving, although inevitably late when departing. They offered me several thousand airmiles as recompense, which I declined and asked them to donate them to the young wheelchair passenger who had been severely inconvenienced by the outbound ordeal; and suggested they sort
  12. Having been involved in several searches over the years I totally agree; but I am finding the fact that no EPIRB ( or whatever the aircraft version of it is called) signals are being picked up, a bit hard to comprehend. They must be fitted, probably with both water and impact activated models.
  13. Just guessing, but possibly cheaper to get to KL from Phuket than it would be to get to Swampy, or the lax passport control in KL was common knowledge ? I still feel that too much emphasis is being put on these false id travellers. From these events I would suggest it is a regular occurence, for even such low key crimes as "extended overstay". Malaysian Air would be quite happy to detract any supposition that their aircraft or maintenance crews were at fault for as long as possible.
  14. Have I missed a bulletin somewhere, stating that this pair boarded with explosives. Or is that just another "wackyism" ?
  15. Just listening and reading reports so far with respect to the pair travelling on stolen passports; The profile seems to fit a " drug smuggling" or similar attempt, especially with the out of the ordinary route they were on to get back to Amsterdam (I believe). However, that would not explain the sad loss.
  16. Well stating the "bleedin' obvious" .... Bring loads more money !!!!
  17. LOL Co-incidence or what ?!. I literally just finished watching this pretty good effort on the dvd, and paused on this chappies credit because I thought it was someone else. Yousef Azami
  18. 1- The plane used nowadays is an Airbus 340. Assuming you are travelling "cattle class" the seating is fairly normal for an asian airline, very similar to EVA and is in a 2-4-2 configuration I believe. Should you be travelling in their "premium economy" then you fare better than EVA, as you get a proper biz class seat, with economy catering. You also get use of lounges. Food at all levels is hit & miss, much in line with EVA.2- I wouldn't want to go much less than 1hr 30 min for tx timing, especially if children are involved. Last time I actually used them myself the return transfer time w
  19. The recession in the UK has been a relative "boon time" for those with wealth, not sure how it has adversely affected the wealthy in other countries.
  20. Chinese orientated medicine shops are the places to look for in Thailand. There was one in Nakhlua a few years back selling various reptile/insect cocktails but I have not been there for a long time now, so cannot confirm current availability. Yaowarat Road in Bangkok also had many places selling the stuff.
