name withheld) Minnetonka, MN 55345 Superior Health Insurance ATTN: Claims Review 1423 W. 90th St. New York, NY 05016 Dear Sir: This letter is in response to your recent letter requesting a more detailed explanation concerning my recent internment at Methodist Hospital. Specifically, you asked for an expansion in reference to Block 21(a)(3) of the claim form (reason for hospital visit). On the original form, I put "Stupidity". I realize now that this answer was somewhat vague and so I will attempt to more fully explain the circumstances leading up to my hospitalization. I had needed to use the restroom and had just finished a quick bite to eat at the local burger joint. I entered the bathroom, took care of my business, and just prior to the moment in which I had planned to raise my trousers, the locked case that prevents theft of the toilet paper in such places came undone and, feeling it striking my knee, unthinkingly, I immediately, and with unnecessary force, returned the lid back to its normal position. Unfortunately, as I did this I also turned and certain parts of my body, which were still exposed, were trapped between the device's lid and its main body. Feeling such intense and immediate pain caused me to jump back. It quickly came to my attention that, when one's privates are firmly attached to an immovable object, it is not a good idea to jump in the opposite direction. Upon recovering some of my senses, I attempted to reopen the lid. However, my slamming of it had been sufficient to allow the locking mechanism to engage. I then proceeded to get a hold on my pants and subsequently removed my keys from them. I intended to try to force the lock of the device open with one of my keys; thus extracting myself. Unfortunately, when I attempted this, my key broke in the lock. Embarrassment of someone seeing me in this unique position became a minor concern, and I began to call for help in as much of a calm and rational manner as I could. An employee from the restaurant quickly arrived and decided that this was a problem requiring the attention of the store manager. Betty, the manager, came quickly. She attempted to unlock the device with her keys. Since I had broken my key off in the device, she could not get her key in. Seeing no other solution, she called the EMS (as indicated on your form in block 21( After approximately 15 minutes, the EMS arrived, along with two police officers, a fire-rescue squad, and the channel 4 ''On-the-Spot'' news team. The guys from the fire department quickly took charge as this was obviously a rescue operation. The senior member of the team discovered that the device was attached with bolts to the cement wall that could only be reached once the device was unlocked. (His discovery was by means of tearing apart the device located in the stall next to the one that I was in. (Since the value of the property destroyed in his examination was less than $50 (my deductible) I did not include it in my claim.) His partner, who seemed like an intelligent fellow at the time, came up with the idea of cutting the device from the wall with the propane torch that was in the rescue truck. The fireman went to his truck, retrieved the torch, and commenced to attempt to cut the device from the wall. Had I been in a state to think of such things, I might have realized that in cutting the device from the wall several things would also inevitably happen. First, the air inside of the device would quickly heat up, causing items inside the device to suffer the same effects that are normally achieved by placing things in an oven. Second, the metal in the device is a good conductor of heat causing items that are in contact with the device to react as if thrown into a hot skillet. And, third, molten metal would shower the inside of the device as the torch cut through. The one bright note of the propane torch was that it did manage to cut, in the brief time that I allowed them to use it, a hole big enough for a small pry bar to be placed inside of the device. The EMS team then loaded me, along with the device, into the waiting ambulance as stated on your form. Due the small area of your block 21(a)(3), I was unable to give a full explanation of these events, and thus used the word which I thought best described my actions that led to my hospitalization. Sincerely, (name withheld)

Taxi share April 19th, make that the 20th
sinbinjack replied to csm's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
Hi csm ,if you are leaving from the Dynasty ,why dont you use their mini bus service to pattaya it leaves about the time you will and costs I think only 350baht and will drop you in soi 13 at the Dynasty in pattaya . -
Why dont you do that then Stay 6 months and enjoy it then go home and work for 6 months ,As far as I can see there is no way to "earn " in LOS if you dont have a bar ,guesthouse,or superb Computer skills .There is the teaching english as a foriegn language route but that requires qualifications and long hours of work ,and the point of Pattaya ,for me at least,is not doing anything but enjoying the place. Now there is also a new Immigration law that wont let you stay for as long as we have in the past if you are on a tourist visa, and you are way too young for a retirement visa ,so why no go for the best of both worlds like me and come to Pattaya for as long as you want or can and spend the rest of the year at home . PS if you get caught working you get fined ,sent home ,and banned from the Kingdom and you dont want that to happen PPS, someone will peach on you ,there are some right gits in Pattaya when your back is turned.

HiAll, I have finaly managed to get a ticket with Qatar at £438 leaving from Gatwick rather than my usual Heathrow ,thanks to Cenn3 for the heads up ,so will see you all in LOS after the 18th april .
-
Hi Cenn3,I tried again to get the fare you suggested and lo and behold it was there so I am booked out of gatwick on Qatar on the 18th till the 3rd of july £438. If anyone saw the previous post its gone now as I did some checking and got it right in the end
-
I am going for 10 weeks at least so this is a cheap ticket unless there is a very quick sale on some other airline as I will fly in under 4 weeks
-
Totaly agree with Millwallfc great food ,only drawback is he is so out of the way out on sukumvit highway just by what the expats call batman. He does a great get together for yanks on the 4th july and its a great meeting place on wednesday afternoons for many expat yanks as well as many brits more an afternoon drinker than nights but his english grub is fantastic

DAYS IN THE LIFE OF A PATTAYA HOTEL OWNER
sinbinjack replied to cookie's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I am sorry to hear of your problems with the little men in brown ,and can understand the stress that these kind of incidents cause you ,but I find your writing style lets all the harsh bits fall to the side and I just cant help laughing at what should not be laughed at.please keep it up . -
Hi all, My opinion, for what its worth, is that you should do what feels right for you. Some guys here expect to live well in the UK or the USA when they retire others like myself realise that when we retire we will be on the breadline at home no matter what.We can see the advantages of living in Pattaya even at a lower rate than some of the well off boardies and still be living better in LOS than we could in the UK .I personally get no sex at home and haven't for some years but ,even on a very tight budget I get all I can handle and more in Pattaya ,and lets be honest that is the main draw for me and many others .we can waffle on about cost of living in the respective places ,but it will always come down to individual needs and wants ,after all do we want to stay in good old UK for 25years and wilt away with little in the way of fun ,existing on a meagre budget or go out with a bang after 20 years of happiness. There is after all the ability to go home (UK)and let the social security take care off you if you do run out of money, that way you get to have your fun and still eke out your last days without resort to swan dives of hotel verrandahs. PS I always holiday on a budget and last year I was in Pattaya for 4 and a half months (134days) during that time I ate out every meal and every meal was European I took a girl as and when I fancied I didn't frequent go-gos often and drank very little,at the end off my holiday I had spent approx £4200 and that included the £570 air fare a condo a hired bike, and about £150 in souvenirs (also about £75 spent on clothes),so dont let the naysayers get you down it is not an impossible dream.

Continue immediatly Cookie or at least let us know when the book is to be published ,as I have never laughed so much at anothers misfortune as I have at yours and mrs bosses -
Hi tom I wasn't bothered about getting advice about cheap tickets (although I do say so myself, I can generally get the lowest fares available) I was just moaning about the lack of deals this year as opposed to previous years and wondered if anyone knew the reason.I particularly wanted to know why there were no deals as I have read about possible terrorist attacks ,and that sort of thing whilst not making any difference to me generally brings the deals out pronto. The increase in Taxes is just a bugger and has to be taken into consideration, but it does not account for all the price hikes IMHO.
-
Thank Fcuk for that I thought I was getting even cheaper as a charlie ,its nice to know i'm no worse than I was before.but I am still miffed if I have to shell out more for my air fare,so will give it a couple of weeks before I book.
-
Hi you might try the Diana estates on soi buakhow I believe that you can store a bike there for 300baht a month .There are quite a few there they are well covered in tarps and also well chained so should be ok
-
Hi all ,its nearly time for me to come back to Pattaya for a few months ,but this year it seems that airline prices are much higher than last year,I know that taxes have gone up but there seems to be no special offers from the usual suspects.Am I being too cheap or is this in fact a sellers market ,even with all the talk of terrorist attacks and unrest in LOS.I am usualy inundated with special offers to fly at this time of year from Thai and EVA.I should add that I am in the uk and fly from Heathrow
