  1. Hi,I dont like auto transmission on anything, so I always hire a manual 115cc bike, for me its a matter of mobility, as i cant walk very far so this is the only way for me to see a bit of the town.I do agree that the driving in Pattaya leaves a lot to be desired, but I have no reason to go quickly in Pattaya so I can be a little more careful than at home,The fact that I drink little, or nothing,99%of the time, and dont drink and drive ever, helps with my safety.
  2. does this place have a pool and are the utilities included
  3. Hi I stayed at the Lek for 14 weeks in 4 separate rooms and 3 of those were in the old wing where I did not find them to be either cheap or tatty, I stayed in the new wing for only two days whilst my AC was fixed and found them not much different than the old wing but much more expensive granted they had more recent decoration and were a little larger, but the price difference was so large I would never pay the difference, but I am a poorly paid truck driver who will happily sleep in the cab of his truck, and get a good nights sleep so what do I know. The fact is in low season my two visits
  4. Hi guys, I will be in fun town from the end of April to the end of august this year, is there any place you can suggest that I can see good May Thai, i tried the ring in the bar at the start of walking street and was very disappointed at the "show" even as a novice spectator I recognize the lack of competition there.any help will be appreciated.

    Jobs

Truck drivers in LOS have a hard time making ends meet They seem to be untrained and unvalued so even if there was a job on offer you would not get enough for your rent never mind to live on.
  6. this seemed to me to be exactly what you asked for
  7. Hi I have allways paid on arrival at the LEK on soi 13 you can book through their web site.
  8. This was originally shown on BBC TV back in the seventies. Ronnie Barker could say all this without a snigger (though God knows how many takes). Irony is that they received not one complaint. The speed of delivery must have been too much for the whining herds. Try getting through it without converting the spoonerisms [and not wetting your pants] as you read .. This is the story of Rindercella and her sugly isters. Rindercella and her sugly isters lived in a marge lansion. Rindercella worked very hard frubbing sloors, emptying poss pits, and shivelling shot. At the end of the day,
  9. all TCs seem to be accepted, cash is great ,as is an ATM card but you must not change any money into Baht in the UK as they will rip you off big time. you will need to take your Passport with you when you want to change your TCs ,and you will be charged a fee every time you use your ATM card (unless you have a Nationwide Flex account,if not get one its great value for all travelers)and cash can be changed almost anywhere easily, but don't use the hotels service as they charge you far too much for the privilege.and also watch were you use any credit cards as there is a lot of card fraud in SE A
  10. well done mate it only goes to show that it can be done and all those very rich guys that say it cant are wrong .
  11. the "TOWN" is where the ferry lands and its 5/6 shops or bars and a few houses good for 10or 12 minutes sightseeing and you can do that while you wait for the ferry to leave if you get there a little early
  12. all the beaches have what you are after ,my favourite is samae beach but the other one i tried was acceptable, the baht busses all go to different beaches just ask the driver which one he is going too,pay you money and give him your return time so he can come back and pick you up
  13. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, but even if I was to stay full time in LOS I would not sell my house,as it would still be the same economic argument in either case. If I was to maintain a permanent address in the UK ,given my circumstances I would be much better off . PS. I hope to spend 4/5 months in LOS every year until I am of an age to retire,11years till 65 but possible at 60 and the money would come from the renting of my home (or part of it at least)
  14. Hi bazle there is I believe a £95 per week allowance before tax if you rent out a room in your home and then the expenses to run the home can be prorated to reduce the tax burden quite considerably. edited to add If I dont worry about my son who else will ,and wont he just love me if I set him up with a couple of stunners within arms length.. But seriously he will keep me in the house for legal reasons and also pay the costs of the house when I was not there,as I would never give up my life here in the UK entirely, even for the paradise that is LOS
  15. Hi Owen , just a couple of things (I am no expert just my personal experience)in th UK we do have as you say the National Health service and most working class men don't think about medical insurance as its always provided by the state ,so sometimes they forget it when planning to move overseas. The second point I make is that rental returns are much higher in the UK than (I believe)in the USA,here it is possible (with the right property in the right place)to buy a property and rent it out and still make a small profit, the people who leave your home in a crap state are unfortunately always wit
  16. thanks for the mention wacmedia, I need to budget, not want to budget, and that makes me quite frugal even when I am on holiday so that I can come on holiday for 4 months.
  17. Hi I am an older guy and I only bar fine 3/4 times a week (but I stay for at least 2 months)and get by on much less than 3000 baht a day I drink only Diet coke in the bars with the occasional beer (2/3 A month) so for me its much cheaper than your 6000 baht budget I love the place so much this coming year I have planned for 4+months and will take a cond to further drive the price down. The cost of any holiday is controlled by you and how much available cash you have the budget you have is more than enough to have a great holiday just dont run out of cash that would ruin it .
  18. sorry neil but when I read the question i had not heard of the place he was asking abiout so I took the time to search it out and thats why I posted what I did If he had mentioned it was it was in BKK i would not have made my post
  19. If you live well in farang land then you will live beter in pattaya for less if you live on the edge in farangland then you will live better in pattaya for the same money. If you have money you will spend it if you have no money you will economise thats the way of the world ,you cant expect to ask this question of another man as he will have a different view of what is and what is not essential. the state pension for a single man in the uk is a minimum of £105,in the uk it would be almost(not quite) impossible to live on that much even if you had no housing costs but in pattaya with no housin
  20. Yes, it's that magical time of the year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Here then, are the glorious winners: 1. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California, would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked..... And now, the honorable mentions: 2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and, after a little shopping around, submit
  21. And this idea is so good you want to share it with others for free? I think not. I do hope the mods will do to this spam what is only right and proper. This guy is trying to sell his crap "business opportunities" in all his threads so far,he is a prick that needs croping quickly or him and all his annoying mates will be spamming all the time
  22. The only man that I know with an extensive knowledge of Pattaya and Thailand in general who would be able to give you the best advice on your question is Hilly he knows a lot of people and and is plugged into the local infrasructure so a PM to him might get you where you want to be quicker. PS.I would not be put off by the quacks if you think you can do it on your own then you probably can
