  5. hi all , when in town this year i stayed at the lek hotel for 2 months but at just under 40000baht it was rather expensive so as I am planning on a 4 month trip next year I am looking to take a condo.I looked at the Diana estates on soi buakow and was surprised at the value offered and may stay there but I was wondering after reading some posts on the board if the members know of anything similar only things required are a pool,a/c and cable tv and of course pattaya not jomtiem ps I was quoted from 8000baht upwards at diana estates +utilities for low season may to august
  6. hi alan the 7%added to payments by credit card was stated on a card sitting at the end of the reception counter it didnt bother me as i always pay in cash
  7. thanks emil I will still go the diana estate route next year but I was wondering if there was any with pools (cheap) that i missed in my travels this year see you in paradise next year
  8. any places that have a pool that you know of ?and how much?thanks
  9. hi hawkeye the exchange rate in thai land will get you a lot more baht for your money(was about 74 to the £ last time I looked)and the atms ,no matter what some on the board say ,are sometimes a bit hit and miss (some will accept your card and some wont)the single best way to go money wise is to get a nationwide account (try a search on NATIONWIDE)or get some TCs and take some cash as well, this is much the safest way as the TCs will be safe and you will change up your cash at the airport(in thailand) the use of credit cards is ok in thailand but everywhere will charge you as much as 7%(lek hotel) extra on the bill so that is your best reason not to use them sinbinjack
  10. hi all I want to see football but only certain games so when I want to watch I want a bar with football and when i dont I go elsewhere, easy
  11. there is no shame in fact if you stay in some hotels and dont have a girl every night then that is a cause for comment dont sweat it do it and dont worry
  12. Hi alesypalsy I thought of another thing and thats quiz nights if you enjoy them at home then you will find that there are plenty in pattaya and its a great way to make friends, the ferry to koh larn is only 20 baht each way and the beaches there are a lot better than pattaya or jomtiem a real cheap charlies day out, there are all day fishing trips that are not very expensive run by some bars from 350baht(on soi7 near beach rd there is a bar that is either 3rd or 2nd last before you hit the beach with a sign outside who goes every thursday at 930)
  13. Hi alesypalsy I dont usualy give places a bad review but I have been in crazy daves place 3or 4 times and after the first time i never bought his sausages again as they were not to put to fine apoint on it SHIT the worst sausages I have ever eaten (so bad i took on small bite and left the rest)the rest of his food was OK and I even enjoyed his black pudding (I am very picky about black pudding)but the service was not great but the apple crumble and custard was good. Just opposite crazy daves is a great curry shop with the best curry (IMHO)in pattaya its called NeeRoys and is run unsurprisingly by Roy and his lovely wife Nee who come from Yorkshire and Nee learned to cook indian style in a yorkshire take away so it is authenticly english curry you might givr them a try if you are in the vicinity you will not be disapointed in quality taste or the remarkably low prices (I have no interest in this or any other business just loved the food) sinbinjack
  14. took this advice last year will never do anything else in future
  15. why dont the thais do REAL donner kebabs thats lamb for those that dont know
  16. Lek hotel would be about 7/800old wing and has the best hotel pool I have seen in pattaya,it has all the other facilities you need or want and is on soi 13/2nd rd corner.stayed there 2month this year great stay.
  17. less than 2 miles 1 1/2 to 1 3/4
  18. use your brains man if you book through a booking agent he has to make money and so do the hotel. If you cut out the middle man which way do you think the price goes up or down
  19. hi, front desk has boxes but I dont know if they are big enough to fit alap top
  20. hi the safty boxes in the Lek are, old wing key ,new wing electronic, and neither are big enough for a lap top
  21. hi teelak the LEK is a great hotel very girl friendly, they take IDs and phone when the girl leaves to see if you are ok,the pool is one of the biggest ive seen in pattaya the location is great the noise is only a bother to those sensitive to noise(and if you are that sensitive you should pick some other town to holiday in)the food was its worst aspect(my opinion)the new wing is little better than the old and both have in room safes another drawback is that the room service closes early but that is no hardship realy thge more expensive rooms are IMHOnot worth it and if you are on a budget stay in the old wing ,I was there from 1stmay till 30juneand enjoyed my stay. For my stay of 2 months I was paying 650 baht a night
  22. Lek is cheaper ,rooms are bigger the pool is of a usable size(I swim every day)and they have in room safes Dynasty the rooms are smaller tho newer the pool is no more than a hip bath or plunge pool and the cost more ,will not discount for long stays
  23. I think the flipper on soi7 has a side entrance near the hair dressers has a pool and is economical
