  1. Nice looking place. I wish I was in a position to buy it. Good luck with your sale.
  2. I have to agree that the music selection is just right played at the volume that it is. You have done a great job with your place, I won't change a thing.
  3. I flew them once a number of years ago. On the return leg, I had an 8 hour layover in Korea. Overall the service on the flights were great, and the flight attendants really cute. I did get upgraded to business class on one of the legs because the flight was oversold in economy. Overall, not a bad experience.
  4. Great job Pete. Thanks for all the updates, it really makes me homesick. I look forward to visiting you bar this far when I return.
  5. Valid question. It was from a conversation I overheard between an individual and immigration office that standing in another line. I was in line for another reason and by the time I finished my business, all parties involved in the first question were long gone. I really didn't feel like standing around waiting for an answer to the question as I'm quite a few months from having to deal with this particular issue. I asked the question here because there is a wealth of information here and I'm sure others have had to deal with this issue before. Thanks for asking.
  6. Thanks, that sounds fairly simple.
  7. I am currently in Thailand on a type O-A multiple entry visa (retirement) which expires on January 3, 2009. I just came from immigration where I completed my 90 day reporting requirement. While I was there, another individual was trying to renew his retirement visa. The immigration officer kept asking him for his bank book and he kept saying that he had a letter verifying his retirement income. My question is: If you are basing your renewal of the visa on a monthly retirement income of 65,000 baht or more, do you still have to have a Thai bank account? If you do need a Thai bank accou
  8. One of the best posts I've read regarding a retirement visa. Thank you for posting.
  9. 33 days and counting, but this is my last countdown as I'm retiring and moving to Thailand. I've just about got everything in order for the big day. I can hardly wait.
  10. I only had to bring a copy of my estimated retirement income from my employer to get my visa. I have -0- dollars in a Thai bank. They accepted everything at face value.
  11. I just got my O-A multiple entry visa through the Thai Consulate in Portland, Oregon. It was no problem. I was in and out in 5 minutes. They were extremely helpful through the entire process. I was worried about the required medical certificate but they told me that I only needed a note from my doctor stating that I was not being treated for any of the listed conditions. Only about one month before I leave for a long anticipated retirement in Thailand.
  12. About 4 years ago, I left for Thailand with only 3 months left on my passport. Didn't realize it until I was getting off the plane in Bangkok. I kept my mouth shut and went through Immigration with no problems. They didn't even look at the expiration date. I might have just been lucky, but have heard of others with similar experiences to mine.
  13. The biggest problem you'll have if you try to import drugs into Thailand via a mail-order pharmacy is with Thai Customs. I don't have any info on what would be necesary for the drugs to clear Customs but would imagine that it would be difficult. I called VA and asked them about receiving my meds overseas and was told it is possible and the meds would be sent to the US Embassy where I would have to pick them up. Also there is a VA hospital in Manila that I could receive care at. As far as coverage through Blue Cross/Blue Shield through the FEHB, you can call them at 1-800-699-4337.
  14. If you can get your prescriptions through the VA, they will send them directly to the embassy for you to pick up. That way you won't have to deal with Thai customs.
  15. I’ve really found it hard to find the words to describe the sorrow I’ve felt at the passing of Om. She was such a warm and friendly girl with a smile that couldn’t help but warm your heart whenever you saw her. I too echo the others that have said that looking at these pictures have brought a tear to my eye. It was a really moving experience looking at them. Thank you, Martin, Ben and Pete, for allowing us to contribute to the family in this time of sorrow.
  16. Donation sent through Paypal, I hope this helps in some small way.
  17. This is so sad, she was such a nice girl...I know she will be missed by all.
  18. I just bought my tickets on EVA Evergreen Deluxe, SEA-BKK. Best price I could get was $1060 ($1200 after all the airport taxes). Up a little from last year when I paid just over $960 ($1050 after after taxes).
  19. The best price I could find on Eva for a February departure from Seattle was $960 for Deluxe class
  20. I buy my ticket straight from their web site. www.evaair.com
  21. Ever since the first time I flew EVA Deluxe Class I have never flown any other airline. I had over 200,000 miles on my Northwest FF account. I gave my brother a free ticket on NW to BKK and I flew on EVA. It is worth the extra $200 to fly EVA's Deluxe class
  22. Not trying to wish my life away, but I would also like October to get over. Arriving in BKK on November 9th. Will be in Pty on the 11th. [smiley=3some.gif]
