loacl 711 totally out of water and beer last night (maybe from panic buying). bought some small bottles this morning from shop in building but the price has doubled. they said beer running out soon. I was told chang brewery stopped production and so had singha but they expected to have enough in stock to keep supplying. Time will tell I guess.

Good one. This ould be a good map to have pinned somwhere. Pretty handy. Just to be a nitpicker, I see some rooms like Halifax 2 with ensuited rooms but in reality I think they only have 1 or 2 ensuited rooms. Unless I miscounted there seems to be about 68 bars in soi 6 (including the ones listed as closed). would be an interesting venture to visit each one and tick them off the list (not on the one day). Many there that I have not been too even after nearly 10 years of visiting soi 6.

That's good news about the menu, more than a few times I have eaten thai with a few different girls and the opinion was usually. lovely seating, lovely view but food not so tasty. I had to agree with them that it had too much of a generic made for farang taste. The esaan addition will be a welcome addition.

I found that more than a few girls suggest to take the BB as they don't like taking a bike for various reasons (messes up their hair, scared of bikes etc). But i do agree that Jomtien is not the place for someone making a short stay epecially if they are there for the action. But if you live there or visit 4 or 5 times a year for long breaks then it is a nice respite from Pattaya. As Gary said the "new" group of bars next to the market are a good addition. I think another 12 bars going in behind them also.

after 3am yes songtaews can be hard to get but I have never experienced problems getting home between 12 and 3. after 3 just jump on a bike...easy.

LJ, thanks and good to hear a first hand account from someone close to the action and certainly sounds like a crazy situation to be a witness to over bacon and eggs. Some crazy "expats" drifting around the bar scene some of which with unpleasant dispositions.

Why not ask the people who were actually there? Like the staff who patched the guy up or even the dude from Armagedon..the owner was not there at the time. You might get a more balanced answer from someone without a direct stake who was there. I did.

Apparently some big dude (40's or 50's) walked into staghead grabbed an older guy who was sitting in there and started beating him, staff were yelling at him to stop. I would hazard a guess and say purchasing in Australia is your best bet given that with such a small market (of Australian AFL followers) that I doubt anyone in Thailand would have even heard of it let alone be attempting to replicate a bunch of team jearseys that most people (visitors) have never heard of. Queen Vic is still the pick of the 2 even if the meal sizes have been markedly reduced (my major cripe). They continue to have their shit togther, probably more so than your last visit 7 yrs ago (if thats possible). I have stayed at the Lord Nelson a few times when the Queen Vic was full, staff are friendly, rooms were ok (nothing great) and location was good.
