  1. I've stayed there a few times in the past few years but not that recently. It is a nice hotel with very good rooms and a good restaurant. BJ was one of, if not the first, Americans to have a beer bar in Pattaya on Walking Street right on the corner of the soi they named after him. He's a good ole boy from Texas and he is more than willing to converse with you unless your a ultra-liberal socialist commie.
  2. Not most likely, 100% certainty. These "Mr Dreams, Pattayas, T's, Tooms, etc", they don't own vehicles and they don't have employees. They are booking agents. Their office is where they happen to be sitting when the cell phone rings. They have a list of phone numbers of Thais that have access to vehicles and are willing to give up a percentage of the fee for getting the job. They may have never met the driver nor seen the vehicle he drives. Depends on whether they have help collecting their fees. From the moment you book your ride you are in the hands of the driver whether he be good or bad. I never use these guys and prefer an actual registered company. I may pay a little more but I think it's worth it and all the taxi companies I have used have never let me down in over 6 years of trips.
  3. Did I miss it? I didn't see anything about the size of the rooms or proposed location of the hotel. 1000 baht or less is great if the room is decent size and you don't have to spend a bunch on taxi fare around Pattaya.
  4. I stayed at the Eastiny 7 on Soi 7 last July. It was fine and I paid less than 1000B per night for a superior room booked thru Agoda.com If you just showed up at the desk you could probably get cheaper rates as I'm betting it's just about as empty as it was in July. The room was fine, bathroom decent, water pressure and aircon good as well. My room did have a safe. I found the tiny restaurant virtually worthless but although the swimming pool was small it was clean and refreshing. Drinks from their pool bar are a good price as well. I was on the 5th floor with my balcony facing Central Road and I was never bothered by any noise from Soi 7.
  5. Metro Apartments has a side entrance that you are given a key for if the bar is closed when you return. You can still use it even if the bar is open. It still opens into the rear of the bar but does provide a shorter chance to be seen as you dart to the stairwell.
  6. From the ones I've stayed at it has to be Metro Apartments. Nice location, nice rooms, nice atmosphere, nice pool tables, nice airconditioning in the bar and nice girls.....all at a nice price!
  7. They'll get you there for a good price, and if you like screaming Chinese kids, you'll be in heaven. Your results may vary.

    So happy you noticed Greg!

  9. Based on that most topics on this forum would be closed. And no, I am not a moderator any longer.
  10. When it was Lennie's I went there often. Enjoyed talking to Manfred and Noi and many of the girls in the line-up. When they hired an ex-flb girl as mamasan and she got nasty with some customers, that's when it started to lose it's appeal for me.
  11. Happy Birthday Alf! Hope you had a good time at and after the party.
  12. 1 drink is nuts! 250 in a month....now that's pure genius!
  13. Was there a couple of weeks ago. We were waited on and served very quickly. Don't think I'd judge a place good or bad on one visit. Also, if the staff doesn't see me, I get their attention. All it takes is a wave or a clap of your hands.
  14. I've stayed there a couple of times and always enjoyed it. The rooms and beds are fine IMHO. The pool is small but nice. The food in the restaurant is great. Since another hotel was built right next to it, they have lost their views of Pattaya Bay from the upper floors. BJ Holiday Lodge
  15. Congrats Adam, keep it going. Soi 8 wouldn't be the same without you. BTW, what is that growing out of the top of your shirt?
  16. Just stayed at the LK Royal Suites for 6 nights. The room was very nice for the price I booked through Agoda.com. Printed out the coupon and handed it to them at check-in. Smooth sailing all the way to check-out.
  17. Moving this to the tech section where hopefully someone with knowledge will be able to help you out.
  18. Off just started selling these belt clip-on things that supposedly keep the yoongs away. Not sure if they will be sold in Thailand but you'd think it would be a natural market. Off Clip-on
  19. And now for the truth. Snopes
  20. I might be persuaded. Share cost for sure but not judge any dance contest. Hate to play favorites. Sonny, you should ask MM to move this to the members section so more people will see it.
  21. One mans abuse is another mans pleasure.
  22. Yeah, I think it makes the plane go a little faster, less resistance similar to a swimmer thru the water.
  23. Yep Todder, key is for the side door where all the motorbikes are parked.
  24. I think most if not all the rooms have cabinets with locking drawers that are large enough to put your laptop in. I was in room 10 last time and it had a TV stand with drawers that I used for my laptop.
  25. Great pictures! When I'm looking for my next freelancer I'll definitely stop in and even when I'm not.
