Some Photos: Soi Cowboy Last Night
RhinoTusk replied to RhinoTusk's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Most Welcome Girls will turn their back. There are more people around, so it's easier to blend in the crowd and easier to be undetected if you don't use a flash or tripod. Some girls don't mind Also, some punters don't like it, maybe the one's cheating on their wives? Not to worry, if anyone sees themselves just send me a PM and I'll delete the photo. For a fee, of course. I'm working on it. Had to leave a few nights ago because I was afraid some ladyboys were going to kick my ass. -

Between Suzy Wongs, Cowboy 2, and Kiss, the red neon really dominates the center of the block. -

Yes, that's an improvement. I'll have to learn more about editing software. Also, I'll try the lens at Nana Car Park at 2;00 AM, much less light but sometimes better than a trip to the zoo. -

The f/1.8 is less than half the price. I'll try some portraits this weekend and see if the extra aperture is worth it. Just need to find a thai girl who's not too shy to take her clothes off. -

It's an AF-S Nikkor 50 mm f/1.4G. No secret, you can get it out of the file's exif data. All shots were hand held so fast shutter, but it didn't seen to give the best shots with the aperture wide open. But here's some nice bokeh at f/1.6 -
Purchased a fast prime lens yesterday and was trying it out on Soi Cowboy last night.

Best place to get American food in Bangkok

I can live with the bangers and mash but not the faggots and pees. I'm not into gay water sports. -
Best place to get American food in Bangkok
RhinoTusk replied to short's topic in Restaurants and food
I'm looking for a better Reuben sandwich, best I had in Bangers was at the Landmark, there must be a better one. With potato salad, and a pickle, like this Note: This is not what they serve at the Landmark -
Best place to get American food in Bangkok

New Orleans is a good place, been around a long time, more pecan pie than apple pie. Love the hurricanes there, very refreshing and lots of alcohol. -
I didn't know you could bar fine from there. Considering the quality of the food and attitude of the staff, I think I'd pass on that.

The breakfast is good value: 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 slices ham, tiny hot dog, 2 slices of toast with butter and jam, orange juice, and coffee. I see from the pictures they've raised the price to 60 baht. If you want a cheap breakfast at 7:30 AM it's an option, just don't come before then because the staff will be having their breakfasts and will tell you to get lost. PS i like the old pictures on the wall.

I was a regular for the cheap breakfast when I lived in VT6, and would sometimes have a 30 baht noodle dish, but never tried the farang food there. My fondest memory of the Sailor Bar was overhearing a waitress saying "Fuck you, asshole." to a customer.

Don't know what the travel agents offer. I went with a group that rented 2 long-tail boats for 1200/hr each. The boats can accommodate 10-12 passengers, so my total cost was 500 baht including lunch. This between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM today.

Beautiful day today to be rolling down the river and up the creek for a tour of the Bangkok waterways. Starting at Tha Chang pier on the Chao Phraya, near the Royal Palace, and stopping for a cold one at floating markets along the way. Leave your automobiles and motorbikes behind, all Bangkok may be like this some day.

Yesterday featured more Race Queens, a singing group called The Drift Angels, and a Japan Model Show. Last day is Sunday, so this is all from me until next year.

Casino Edit: Whoops, beaten to the draw by a few seconds

Today featured Race Queens from Japan. It was also Press Day, so I received free admission. They asked for a business card, didn't have one, just told them I was covering the event for pattayatalk.com. The Race Queens had an interpreter. One Race Queen spoke excellent English, but I only saw about 4 farangs in attendence, so I don't think it helped her much. More shots from today

She's really cute but my favorite is Jane, a Thai-Chinese girl from Chaing Mai that currently lives in Beijing and works in commercials and soaps on Chinese television. But now I'm heading back to Impact Arena, they're featuring Race Queens from Japan today.

Turns out the Bangkok Motor Show isn't the only one! Now there's a Bangkok International Auto Salon, at Impact Arena until the end of June. Complete with cars, pretties, and a sexy car wash. Admission: 100 baht. Not the scale of the Motor Show but good if you don't wish to fight the crowds.

I used to be a United Red Carpet member, and really enjoyed hanging out in the Red Carpet Lounge at Narita. In fact, I used to schedule flights to Bangkok that would maximize the layover. They had wine and scotch whisky, with cheese and crackers, and a high-tech beer despenser that would tip the glass and top it off with a perfectl head. I would spend 6 to 8 hours in the lounge there, it was complimentary all you could drink, and I'd get so wasted I could hardly get on the plane to Bangkok.
