  1. Rather than succumbing to using Edge, Google for a decent hosts file that has most of the advertising ip numbers included. Takes a small amount of PC savvy to do it, but it blocks most advertising on most sites for me, especially the Google and Doubleclick crap. I told one ThaiVisa mod that 'pinged' me that he was just a dopey wanker....he didn't have an answer.
  2. Perhaps stick to something you know something about; mini-cab driving or that sort of thing.
  3. The direct route (aka great circle) is not far off the route that this flight takes to and from London. There are minor variations over the Indian Ocean and some variations that occur due to political issues of various types. Over the Indian Ocean most flights will adjust their flight in the southwards direction to get the optimum jetstream to take them to the east coast ports of Australia. On any given day this might be crossing the coast near Port Hedland to skirting the WA coast south of Augusta (about 2000 or more kms difference between those two spots). I've flown the B787 a number of times and have found benefits in its lower cabin altitude and higher cabin humidity. However, I wouldn't relish spending 17 hours in any economy cabin.
  4. Yep, then Perth will be back to having one international QF flight a day....B737 to Changi.
  5. Made it there and back, just now its on its way back to Melbourne.
  6. A 777 and Emirates has to the worst combination of any Western airline. Usually the cabin is crewed by surly and lazy Eastern Europeans.
  7. Little Johnny comes home from a school trip to the country. "What did you see?", asked his mum. "Well we saw farms and chickens and sheep and pigs and a whole field full of fuckers". "A field full of what?" said mum. "Well teacher said they was effers, but I knew what she really meant."
  8. As a former aviation professional I still won't touch them with a barge pole, even though they have had numerous shake ups to their operating standards.
  9. Don't forget the 'technical' bods, the ones that regurgitate old and questionable IT news.
  10. Something to do with 'mining' crypto-currency (Bitcoins), where you expend lots and lots of power to produce something that's worth less than it cost.
  11. Its not just Mozilla that considers Flash to be a security risk, just that they are the first to do something about it. Eventually Flash will fall by the wayside.
  12. Whether they are being attracted or not, sea snakes don't have the ability to open their jaws wider to strike as land snakes do. So unless you're very unlucky and get bitten on a toe or finger, not much to worry about. Infections are the bigger worry.
  13. I just have my 'hosts' file set up to re-direct most of the common advertiser urls to nowhere, TV doesn't seem to be bothered by that. Probably not fashionable with website owners, but it is effective.
  14. I read/watched something recently that said not to 'walk in' as the rates were much higher than booking through an agency. Same may apply if you try to make a direct booking via email? Otherwise looks to be a good choice, fitting the OP points.
  15. A special Christmas Day edition?
  16. The track is still discernible all the way to the port area south of Sattahip, near Samesarn. As far as I can tell, no signs of a spur to the munitions storage area to the north of Sattahip.
  17. BA hosties became like PanAm ones......only somebody with severe Oedipus complex would even try. Qantas aren't much better, I once mentioned to one of the mincing stewards that it was nice that the captain had found his mum a job.
  18. Exactly. For those of us old enough to remember Butlins, they should call it Butlins World or Butlins Europe!
  19. Just a short walk from U'Tapao!
  20. Plus a couple of his predecessors. How have they got things wrong for so long?
  21. Add Glasgow to the pick-up fee scam
  22. Didn't say it was. Don't know about the US, I no longer have any interest in visiting it anyway.
  23. I'd also be wary of what you might get prescribed in Thailand. My TGF sent me a photo of stuff she was given by the hospital and there were a couple of things that I wouldn't be taking.
  24. It must have taken years for him to develop such stupidity. Such things don't happen overnight.
  25. Q: What's the difference between a catfish and a lawyer? A: Nothing, they are both bottom crawling scum suckers.
