On my past seven trips I’ve always arrived into Bangkok late in the evening, stayed a night in Bangkok and then headed down to Pattaya the following morning. However, on my recent trip in March I decided to take a different approach after reading the many positive reports about Jan’s taxi service. After taking into account the new location of the airport and doing a cost analysis exercise, I decided to change my routine, head directly to Pattaya and in the process use Jan’s service - I have to say I was really impressed. My cost analysis exercise indicated the increased cost of a taxi to Bangkok (150bt), the higher cost of a hotel room (500bt), the higher cost of a long time lady (500bt) and the cost of the sky train, bus to Pattaya and cramped baht bus to my hotel (170bt) was only going to be 280bt less than the cost of Jan’s taxi service. As such, I booked Jan’s service, which was a hassle free experience without any problems and departed Australia with great anticipation of arriving in the paradise of Pattaya at around 2:00 am, and all I can say is I wasn’t disappointed. Exactly as advised, Jan was waiting for me in the arrivals area with a huge welcoming smile. Getting to the car was a breeze and within minutes we were on the road heading for Pattaya, a complimentary Tiger in my hand and after 8 hrs of flying I felt extremely comfortable being in Jan’s competent hands. Her driving skills are exceptional and her English skills and personality just ate up the 1 hr 30 min trip – In fact I don’t think we stopped talking during the whole journey. Upon arrival in Pattaya, Jan knew exactly where my hotel was and as she dropped me at the front door I realised what a great decision I had made. Here I was in paradise, ready to hit the town and all with the minimum of fuss and absolutely no hassles. I can’t speak highly enough about Jan’s service and having booked her for my return to Bangkok four weeks later she didn’t disappoint me, arriving promptly on time to pick me up at my hotel, driving safely and chatting comfortably, which really helped to ease the pain of the trip back to Bangkok, which many of you know is one of the worst journeys a guy can undertake. Unfortunately, due to Jan’s current pregnancy and impending motherhood for the second time (I think she has three months to go), she is currently scaling down her service but I sincerely hope in the future she continues with the service, as it is without a doubt a really easy way to get to paradise in a safe and dependable way. Thank you Jan & Paul – Your service is absolutely first class and I wish you all the best for the birth of your new baby and all the best for the future. You have both set a service standard that many will try and emulate, but few will be able to achieve. John P.S. Even though Jan is slowing down at the moment, I’m sure if you are arriving in the next few weeks she may be able to accommodate your requests. To check on availability, email Paul at catsmad@yahoo.co.uk – You won’t be disappointed. By the way, the cost is, Airport to Pattaya 1,600 bt (AUD 60.00), with the return 1,400 bt (AUD 52.00).

METRO APARTMENTS PATTAYA
kuranda_bagman replied to THFC's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Currently sitting in room 10 writing this on the free wi-fi. Great place to stay and the staff are fantastic. I'll do a more detailed review when I get home next week, however the fitout of the shophouse next door appears to be complete as I haven't heard any noise for the past few days. Also, the downstairs bar area is now glassed in and air-conditioned, which makes it a nice spot to play pool during the day. Highly recommend the place. -
The lesbian show last Thursday night was certainly hot, as were the ladies . Also, unlike many other gogo lesbian shows, these ladies really do stick the tongue right in - very impressive indeed I liked the venue, which for me had the added bonous of being just around the corner from where I’m staying on LK Metro. Will certainy be going back for more

Hotel w Internet and Guest friendly
kuranda_bagman replied to spoojebob's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The Eastiny Residence is located on soi 10 and during my last trip in December (stayed at Sandy Spring soi 13) I walked past this hotel a few times and liked its location. I did a bit of research on the boards which all seemed generally positive and as I wanted wi-fi internet for my forthcoming visit in May I booked in for 27 days. Negotiating directly with them by email I was able to get a rate of 1,190 bt per night for a deluxe 7th floor room with wi-fi internet and two free American breakfasts daily. – 33 days to wheels up -
Ekami Bus Staion to Majestic Suites,Bangkok
kuranda_bagman replied to conley's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
When you arrive at Ekami head out to the front of the Bus Station. The skytrain station is on your right. It will cost you 40bt to get to Nana Station and takes about 5 minutes. When you get to nana station, head down to the street on the opposite side of the station to which you arrive. This will put you on Sukhumvit. Walk about 150 meters along Sukhumvit in the direction from which the sky train came. You will walk past the Landmark Hotel and then just past the Subway store you will find the Majestic Suites. Make sure you don’t walk past it as it doesn’t look like the front of a hotel and it’s next door to the Majestic Tailors and just looks like another shop front. By the way, great choice of Hotel, have stayed their on many occasions and it’s first class, very girl friendly and quality rooms. -
Have to agree with Mark on this one - Dr Aree is indeed CUTE and a bloody good dentist to boot. Click Here to go to one of my trip reports from last December where I wrote about her service.

Totally agree with Owl & gs joe - Majestic is a great hotel and very girl friendly

Any direct bus from BKK airport to Pattaya
kuranda_bagman replied to phantomtiger's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Arrived on 8th Dec at 7:30pm after 14hrs in airports and planes, took a meter taxi from the rank outside arrivals to Nana for 150bt + 50bt airport fee + 60bt for tolls. Grabbed a freelancer from the Nana car park for a quickie at 500bt then hit the disco around midnight and found a stunner for 1000bt LT. Buffet breakfast next morning then 20bt for skytrain to Ekamia, 110bt for bus to Pattaya and 20bt for baht bus to Sandy Spring, arriving around 1:00pm – IMO, it’s the easiest way to handle the arrival in LOS -
Lemons - Thanks so much - This year I decided to spend my birthday in Pattaya on the 27th May and was looking at Thai Airlines for around $1,600 ex Brisbane, so your post was perfectly timed. Just sorry that we won't be in town at the same time as I'd be more than happy to shout you a shit load of drinks, plus a long time, as a thank you for what you have saved me. Ashboy, it appears we are in town at the same time and I would love to catch up for a few drinks. I travel solo, and although I have a number of visits to LOS under my belt, it's always great to catch up with a fellow country man who enjoys the pastime of mongering :-) I'm a single, 52 yeas old, self opinionated old bastard who enjoys a beer, a bargirl and a bit of a chat. Send me a message if you want to catch up. If anybody else is reading this, I'd be more than happy to catch up with fellow boardies for a drink whilst I'm in Pattaya and if there are any Cribbage players out their, an afternoon game over a few beers would be a great :-) 15-2, 15-4 and the rest won't score :-)

Hi fellow Aussies Pattaya for you guys will be a blast - its safer than Sydney or Melbourne and you will be totally amazed how friendly everybody is and how cheap things are at 30bt to AUD$1.00. Read as much as you can on this forum before you leave and you won't go wrong - most of the advise given here is absolutely spot on. Also make sure you drop into FLB as there are bound to be a couple of boardies who will be more than happy to show you the ropes. As far as money is concerned this was what I took on my last trip and it worked out perfectly: Cash - AUD$1,000 in $100 bills. For emergency use only. ie: melt down of the ATM system etc. Left in the safe deposit box with passport. A St George MultiAccess Card which uses the Visa Network to withdraw available funds from my St George Freedom account via its extensive network of ATM's. In Bangkok and Pattaya you will fall over the bloody things, they are just everywhere. Used to get cash for shopping, food, drinks and entertainment. A St George MasterCard Credit Card. Only to be used in an emergency and for accommodation charges. Also available to be used for cash advances, which is comforting to know that in an emergency you would have access to the available balance on your card in cash. Access to internet banking. Essential as it allows me to transfer funds from my investment account to my freedom account as required. It also allowed me to monitor my MasterCard account to make sure there were no unauthorised charges. I don't use travellers cheques but noticed that whilst the TC rate was 00.30 bt higher than the cash rate, there was a 33.00 bt charge for each cheque cashed and you need to have your passport on you. I always use the safety deposit box in the hotel, where I leave my passport (photocopy in wallet), AUD$ cash and both cards, only keeping enough withdrawn Baht to last 24 hrs. I found 6,000 bt seemed to be ok for a days needs, with larger amounts for shopping excursions. Finally, just chill out and enjoy but remember this will not be your last trip, once you experience Pattaya you will be hooked Looking forward to your trip reports on your return.

In October 2004 I made a 10,000 baht cash withdrawl via an ATM in Pattaya and it took four days before it appeared on my statement via internet banking and that was after checking my account every day.
