Okay, earlier you said you got a good answer from Thaivisa board. What did they tell you? As you said, you are looking for a 1 year visa (of some sort), and not a work permit. Have you found a way to get one that doesn't involve too much lying?

My suspicion is that any Russian mob/mafia in Pattaya is working within the growing Russian community...in other words, their targets are fellow countrymen. I seriously doubt they will encroach on Thai directed businesses...so in the case of farang bar owners (or other Thai owners), they are already paying the Thai police, and a Russian demand on them would be quickly dealt with by the Thais who are already milking that revenue stream.

Agreed. The likelihood of obtaining a WP is low. I should also mention to the OP, that, as I recall, the B-visa is only good for 1 month when you initially apply for the WP. If you don't get it in 1 month, you are without a visa and have to start all over. If you obtain the WP, then the visa is extended another 11 months. This visa is not the same as the one Idefix used initially, as far as I know, though I am admittedly, no expert on visas and their ins and outs. I am only speaking from my own experience of the system.

It's filing intent to get wp, then visa, then wp. You can get the B visa after the company submits info to labor dept and you get a letter saying you've started the application for wp. Then your can be issued a b visa. Then you come back (must leave country to get b visa) and go thru the wp application process. At least, that's how I've done it. Prices do not increase because a particular currency gets more baht per unit. I think some of you think Thais pay attention to the exchange rates, which is utter self-absorbed fantasy. Nor do farang owners either. Prices are set to what the market dictates. That might indirectly correlate to exchange rates because people are willing to spend more, but mostly prices are set based on cost of doing business.
