  1. I used one of Nam's drivers to go to Swampy this week. All went well, no complaints at all. I didn't get a hug... Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  2. "Pattaya", a film produced in France, will be opening in July in Thailand with English and Thai subtitles. Think Hangover 2 with a lot more local flavor, locations, and cast. http://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/advanced/1000925/french-film-explores-weirdness-of-pattaya?utm_content=buffer464f1&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
  3. It's been a while since I've driven on 2 lane roads in the USA, but what I recall (and I may be wrong...help me out USA guys), is that at night, when about to pass, we flash brights to indicate "I'm coming through", same as the Asians do. I also remember (also perhaps wrong) that the overtaken car or truck, will flash its light when you have gotten far enough beyond it to return to your proper lane. Now I'm really worried, because all of this sort of thing was in "muscle memory" rather than cognitive memory, and I may have completely mixed it all up. I think I'll take a taxi at the air
  4. Mr. PigsFly can now receive PMs, since he has applied for and received membership status.
  5. I'll be going back to the US in a week, and will be dealing with these problems again. Yes, I get in on the wrong side, both here and there. When feeling hurried, I will turn on the wipers rather than the turn signal in both places. I don't have a problem driving on the left anymore, but in the USA, I have been known to drive on the wrong side of the road when there is no traffic to remind me which side is mine...much to the horror of my daughter who was riding with me shouting "Dad, you're on the wrong side of the road!!" Oh, it's going to be fun...it's been 3 years now.
  6. Our schedules are at odds on this one. I'll be out of Thailand in a week, with an indeterminate return date. We'll try something, schedules willing, when I return. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  7. It sounds (and looks) like a very nice place to try something a bit different. If you want to have a fondue evening, shoot me a PM. I haven't had fondue since the Marin hot tub days and water beds.
  8. For me, I have decided the best option from all the sites mentioned here is travelingmailbox.com. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  9. I'm staying away from Vegas because of their higher sales tax rate.At first I was leaning towards Nevada because I mistakenly thought they had zero sales tax, but it's actually rather high. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. True, and no local municipality taxes either as far as I can tell.None of the mail services I looked at had addresses in Delaware though. I think it'd be a real competitive edge if they did. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  11. When I said "sales tax area", I meant the city, county, and state where the default address was located. BTW, I think companies incorporate based on taxes and factors other than local sales tax. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  12. The reason that's a factor is if I do any online purchases, sales tax applies based on address. I know it's a minor consideration, but every little bit helps. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  13. Sales tax Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  14. I'm leaning towards https://travelingmailbox.com The address is in a 7% sales tax area, they have 35 free page scans/mo, 40 envelopes/mo, free shredding...all for $15/mo Also, they have a very responsive online chat, so I don't need to be calling or emailing them. Seems the others have extra charges for page scans and similar monthly rates.
  15. They look great, except they charge more for letter scanning than the others. Additionally, their address in Houston, TX has 8.25% sales tax. $10/mo for 2 year contract looks good tho.
  16. I wish somebody would do that ! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  17. A guesthouse on Soi 6 would add a bit of spice! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  18. I have to setup a mail service with scanning, forwarding and receiving capability back in the USA. I'd be interested in recommendations for mail box style services that have "real" physical addresses (needs to be address for credit cards and banks too).
  19. Yeah, I found that part of the story rather scary. They have no concept of privacy or how to protect data. They don't even know how to collect data without buggering it up. Thai Immigration and computers remind me of this video clip
