  1. I now live in a condo and applied for a direct phone and ADSL connection from TTT/Maxnet on Oct 18. It was installed a week later. I haven't had an outage yet. Good service and trouble free so far.
  2. Mikey, "the chef from the west", got Pete to change to a high quality bacon for the BLT. It's much improved from what was being used before, a sort of processed ham slice. I told Mikey I'd be down to try it before he returned to the USA. It was delicious, had real Best Foods Mayonnaise, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, but the bacon was not cooked crispy. I mentioned that I preferred my bacon to be crispy and actually fall apart as the sandwich is eaten, and he said he prefers it the way it was served, cooked but not crispy...but, here's the good news...if you want it crispy, just tell the wait person "well done" and they will cook it crispy. And Pete, I think your new menu is great, and I can't wait to try the tuna melt. I've gone through all the meatloaf choices now. BTW, from that last picture, I think I'm getting a bit too fond of your banana shakes.
  3. Try telling them to have Tony at the LK Metropole read your letter. He seems to be able to get it right each time. Frankly, after all this time of them being unable to coordinate their position on the FLB rate, I leave it up to you guys to figure it out. I worked out a discount with them. They were happy because it filled rooms. I was happy because it was a benefit to members. But, I make nothing from the deal, and if they want to piss off customers, that's their problem. Good luck with trying to get the rate. It's set in a contract and it's good until Sept 30, 2009. You just have to get them to acknowledge it...though they are a bit disorganized.
  4. Now that that's sorted, I'm moving this to the Business section. Welcome on board!
  5. Jason, welcome to the board. Now, I offer you this challenge, since I know you're a bright guy. Read the 1st forum section "INTRODUCTION" after you log in and figure out how to move up to higher board status. It's right there in front of you! If you don't figure it out, post here again, and I'll give you a hint. But it shouldn't be necessary.
  6. Damn, Frosty! I didn't know DollHouse was doing a golf tournament.
  7. Thanks for the excellent visual directions. It shouldn't be hard to find...now to find the time to go out that way.
  8. My schedule is such that I get home about 4am, sleep at 7am, wake at 3pm, and go out about 8pm. I've seldom seen this rain everyone talks about. In Pattaya, if you're a vampire or a night person, you won't notice any rain, since it seems to occur mostly during the daylight hours.
  9. Here are some photos from the night of the party....lots of girls' pictures, some food pictures, and the rest of the night is a blur... Part 2 to follow The rest of the photos
  10. Here are some pictures of the award presentations at the FLB for the RideHer Cup Awards Party. Congratulations to the winners (and the losers) and a big thanks from FLB for continuing this tradition with us for the 7th year straight. Thanks especially to Callum, Wii, Sai, and Frosty for organizing and documenting this event. We had a great party last night, the food was excellent and the schedule was kept to! After you tired golfers left, we continued to party until 3:30am. I'll post those pictures in another thread. Here are the awards photos....
  11. Sounds interesting. Can you give additional information as to location, general directions, name of the restaurant and/or a description of what it looks like?
  12. I've talked to the beat cops and they are saying close on the 14th and 15th, but maybe can open on the 16th. But nobody knows how it's going to come down in Pattaya until somebody gets their instructions. So, as usual, it's wait and see...and unable to plan. As for FLB, we are probably going to close for 3 days...I am making plans for that now (days off, band days etc).
  13. See http://www.pattayatalk.com/joinmembers.html. There is a link to it somewhere on the page you are viewing.
  14. Charlie's on Soi Honey every Tues and Thurs has a quite nice selection of T-bone steaks. You pick the steak and then they barbecue it for you. Served with baked potato, corn, bread, and salad. 380b. Get there about 6pm to get the pick of the steaks.
  15. I've used Mr. T for the last 4 years, for about 30 pickups to and from BKK. Never once did I experience a no show. I've had late, wrong door problems, but with patience (and a cell phone for them to call), always found the driver. Going from Pattaya to BKK, the drivers have always been on time (or early). 100% success rate with Mr. T.
  16. The forum software and it's host computer make no attempt to protect you. None whatsoever. At best, they try to protect themselves...as should you.
  17. Odd, that..because my TG won't eat there or eat the food I bring from there. She says it's not clean. That doesn't stop me from eating there, but what do I know?
  18. I was just told by the LK staff that the LK Renaissance is fully booked until March or April. They are renovating some rooms, so their inventory is down to 60 rooms...all booked. Reservations can still be made at the LK Metropole, LK Royal Suites and Mantra Pura.
  19. Did you read and follow the instructions in that section? The members' section is open to anyone who can read and follow instructions and write a coherent email explaining their reason for wanting to be a member. This keeps out the occasional TG and others who are not suited for the main board.
  20. Read the first topic in the part of the board you can see.
  21. Nine Years On: The Diamond ogling den (Soi Diamond) will be holding a party on Sunday night 19 October to celebrate its ninth year of operations. During that time it has undergone a number of internal structural changes so that anyone walking in today would hardly recognise the place from its original design nine years ago. For a period between about late 2002 and lasting until 2006 it was one of the best places in Fun Town. Now it’s a shadow of its former self but the parties and dance competitions are always worth attending. Two Good Reasons to go with Wile E: Most people who have visited the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos usually try the local amber nectar Beer Lao. Not being much of a beeraholic I’m not really in a position to say whether it’s a truly top-shelf drop or not, but if I am ever in the mood for a glass of the frothy stuff then Beer Lao is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The reason for this preamble is that the management of the Coyotee’s ogling den (Soi Marina Plaza) is apparently now stocking Beer Lao as their preferred happy hour promotion: for just 60 baht a bottle. That’s the first good reason to wander into Coyotee’s. The second is their infrequent but immensely popular dance contests. [Night-March] IF IT’S BUSY IT MUST BE WINDMILL: The Windmill Club ogling den (Soi Diamond) has regained its place as one of about three operating in a similar style (the others being Baby Dolls and What’s Up, both in Soi 15) that rate as among the most popular in Patta On Sunday night 26 October the den will be conducting a dance contest that promises to be just as good as any they have held in the past. The judging format has changed to allow a more open and transparent format, one that involves the crowd as much as anything else. At the time of going to press I am not aware of just how many other bars will be sending contestants, although it is likely to be at least three. The start time is also not known to me but I would think it will be between 10:00-11:00PM. So, there’s the second good reason to make a stopover at Coyotee’s. The Race that Stops a Nation: On Tuesday afternoon 4 November one of the greatest horse races in the world, the Melbourne Cup, will be run over a gruelling 3200 metres (two miles) at the Flemington racecourse in Australia. In the land Down Under it’s an event that stops a nation. Here in Pattaya the race can be viewed live from a variety of places with the Boxing Roo beer boozer and occasional punters palace (Third Road, opposite Soi Lengkee) being my personal preferred spot in the grandstand. Uncle Kenny, who will be sporting the traditional pork-pie hat and swinging the bookies satchel as he calls the odds, will be available to help any interested persons ‘get set’ on their favourite fancy. The only unfortunate aspect of the day is that due to the time zone differences those who want to watch the great race live need to be parked on a bar stool by about 09:30AM, with the race at 10:00AM. Not a Casino in Sight: The Las Vegas chrome pole palace has been reincar-nated. To be accurate, it’s the name that has been revived; the location is different: Soi Yamato (aka Soi Nervous Clinic). Many years ago an astute American man opened an afternoon den in Soi Post Office which he named Las Vegas. After building the business into a strong concern he sold out and that den underwent a name change to Club Nevada. It remains a solid performer with the afternoon ogling and draught amber fluid crowd. Despite the generally slow economy in Fun Town, the astute Yank is back in the main centre of Pattaya and has opened what is currently the 25th palace of the chrome pole away from Walking Street. It’s also the seventh new den to open this year. For Soi Yamato the Las Vegas den is a padded bra’s throw up the street from the cocks-in-frocks joint Stringfellows. The layout is nothing special: a small circular stage in the centre, with room for up to six girls; bench seating around the back wall; and a main bar on the left as you go in. The music is pop and rock from the 1970s and beyond while the most popular libation is draught amber at 75 baht a glass. Lolly water is 50 baht, liver wasters 110 baht, and lady drinks 100 baht. The dancing damsels are, as you might expect, a mixed lot. There are the usual overfed buffalo herders who have upgraded from a beer boozer and donned the g-string in the hope of better earnings from men with severe cataract problems; others look quite good under UV lighting; and a couple who could ply their wallet emptying trade successfully from almost any den of the chrome pole. There’s a Queue Out There: It opened in an almost out-of-the-way area, namely Soi Marina Plaza, but is now arguably the most popular really late-night venue in Pattaya. The operators of the Club Insomnia late-night boogie barn must wake up most afternoons and the first thoughts coming into their heads will be, ‘low season. What low season?’ The upstairs head-bangers auditorium is modelled along the lines of a Spanish resort nightclub and it works, in spades. To prevent overcrowding they have a sensible policy of filling the place after opening at midnight and then only allowing new customers in as others leave. This has led to queues forming at the entrance, something you see in London and Sydney, for example, but almost unheard of in Fun Town. Long-established joints such as Marine and Marine 2 are still as busy as ever while Lucifers remains popular earlier in the evening. Copping the Rough End of the Pineapple: A man walks into a popular palace of the chrome pole, dressed in a fashion that immediately brings to mind the rhyming slang phrase ‘merchant banker’: black shirt opened to the waist, exposing a well-rounded stomach of ample proportions; atop his shaved melon a pair of dark sunglasses. After a short period inside the den it becomes apparent the punter is either a few kangaroos short in the top paddock, or is just a complete tosser with no idea how to behave in public. As most people who have been in Fun Town for any length of time know, the average Thai male working for any one of the multitude of dens scattered the length and breadth of Pattaya don’t need much of a reason to throw a few punches and kicks in the direction of an objectionable punter. So, when the aforemen-tioned twit decided he wanted to become aggres-sive with a couple of the serving wenches the Thai male hired help intervened and, by way of sign language (not sure what the balled fist means in sign) and a hands-on approach made sure the punter left the premises under no illusion about his behaviour being viewed as unacceptable. I won’t mention the den concerned because that’s not the point of the parable. If you feel the desire to obtain a facial massage involving a few swift kicks and a flurry of punches then by all means go ahead and make a complete dickhead of yourself inside an ogling den. Out of the Rumour Mill: Due to deadline constraints I am unable to confirm the full and correct details of the following. I’m told the infamous Soi 6 will be turned into a mini-walking street as of early October every evening from 6:00PM until 2:00AM. No cars or motorbikes will be permitted down the soi between those hours. I’m also led to believe all joints serving booze and brief companionship for a price must open at 6:00PM. I’m not sure if this means those joints opening in the early afternoon are no longer permitted to do so, or if the ruling just states all places must be open no later than 6:00PM. I’m sure all will be revealed in the next couple of weeks. Something for the Desk: The fourth edition -and those remaining copies of the third printing- of the Pattaya by Night magazine are moving off the shelves steadily despite the low season and I’m happy to say there will be a 2009 Calendar ready to hit the streets by about the third week of October. A glossy, desktop style, it features 10 top-class ogling dens and will retail at just 195 baht. More information when it finally makes it out of the print shop. Piece of (Aging) Pith: Q: Is it common for 60+ year olds to have problems with short term memory storage? A: Storing memory is not a problem, retrieving it is a problem. (my new email address is: duncanstearn@gmail.com) From http://www.pattayatoday.net/index.php?acti...ews&id=3793
  22. A Long Time Coming: After leading the round for most of the way, the Boxing Roo Wednesday night quiz league team finally broke through for a series victory in the final game in mid-September. The team used to play as Fawlty Towers when that noshery and boozer was doing business down in Soi 7 (it’s now the site of the Silver Star II ogling den), and, much as they tried, failed to score a series victory. Now, after just three terms under the Boxing Roo banner they’ve recorded a well-deserved win. On Sunday 5 October the Boxing Roo will, as usual, be one of the places to be for the Australian rugby league grand final. Kick-off is generally about 3:00PM and, as is customary, management will be laying on free nosh at half-time. Uncle Kenny will be pleased to offer any advice regard-ing financial investments on the outcome of the event. [Night-March] DRESSED FOR SUCCESS: The Club Oasis chrome pole palace (Soi Buakhow) continues to rate as one of the best in Fun Town: this damsel shows why. (Photo by DAK) If you happen to be in or around Walking Street, the long-running Roo boozer (next door to the lane leading to the Happy chrome pole palace) will also be showing all the action from ANZ Stadium. Schoolgirls Are Not Quite Us: On Friday night 3 October the FLB lounge lizard libation room (Walking Street) will be holding a party for a member of its web bored with the hostesses coming to work attired in school uniforms. As I’ve noted previously, the Filipino band is well worth a listen if you happen to be down in that part of town after 9:30PM. Plans are also afoot to slap a few licks of paint around FLB in upcoming weeks as the joint gears up for what everyone hopes will be a better-than-expected high season. No Room for a Paddy Field: With a half-century of chrome pole palaces scattered the length and breadth of Walking Street and its immediate environs, many operators are being forced to think harder and smarter about how they attract bums on seats. At this stage the year-old Sisterz ogling den is doing quite well with its regular fortnightly promotions, varying between tightlyrun dance contests and other promotions, always on a Thursday night. On 2 October they will hold a Girl’s Gone Wild Party, followed by the postponed Limbo Dance Party on Thursday night 16 October. Just what punters will expect of a Girl’s Gone Wild knees-up is anybody’s guess. I’m not expecting any unusual props such as a heavily-medicated buffalo wallowing in mud, or a faux paddy field populated by dancing damsels dressed as rustic peasants. I think the ‘wild’ part will more than likely be the end result of an over-indulgence in such alcoholic leg-openers like tequila shots as well as close proximity to adult sexual stimulation devices. The dance contest held on 18 September proved a winner with the joint busy throughout the night and keeping up its reputation for generally customer-friendly chrome pole molesters. I think they may well be employing the shortest dancer in Fun Town: she’s no taller than a garden gnome, but quite cute in a doll-like way. When is an ogling den not a chrome pole palace? The answer is simple: when it can’t be viewed from the street and the dancing damsels are attired in more material than an Egyptian mummy. Down on Third Road, opposite the long-established Buffalo beer boozer, is Ingo’s noshery, a place catering for those usually from Nordic climes. After a period of closure for renovations it re-opened and now lays claim to being a nosh-house during the daylight hours and a den of the chrome pole after the sun has set. I have no idea what the food is like but I do know it won’t be setting the town alight with its concept of what constitutes an ogling den. One or two overdressed ladies of dubious virtue do not a chrome pole palace make. Late Night Vibrancy: It’s no real secret the Coyotee’s ogling den (Soi Marina Plaza, off Walking Street) is a genuinely top-class place to visit, anytime after about 10:00PM. Their 1:00AM until late happy hour with most libations at about 60 baht is proving a real drawcard, but the absolute stars are the numbers and quality of the dancing damsels. Management have aimed at creating a more nightclub than ogling den feel to the vibe and it has succeeded in spades, with the dancers really giving it all. I think shuffling is outlawed. Definitely one of Fun Town’s leading lights. Pass the Leather: Times are tough for pretty much everyone, not least the hard-pressed Thai landlords of Fun Town. So, what’s the usual trick to pull when times get tough: increase the rent on your long-term and good quality tenants by a modest one hundred percent. The long-established fetish wear manufacturer Boutique Sexy recently moved operations to a site on Third Road, opposite the Buffalo beer boozer, after their Thai landlord decided doubling the rent on their tucked-away shopfront store was the way to make up for losses elsewhere. Perhaps he thought, given the line of goods Boutique Sexy produces -whips, chains, nipple rings, studded cod-pieces, self-flagellation devices- the owners are not only into masochism and self abuse (aren’t we all?) they would also appreciate a little fiscal raping. Not so. The management of Boutique Sexy declined to renew their lease and moved to Third Road. Here they may well obtain a little walk-in trade, possibly from the customers at the Castle fetish den across the road. Led Zeppelin Would be Proud: A raft of new dancing damsels as well as a hard-core group of usually seductively-dressed freelancers on the busier nights of the week is keeping the stairway to Heaven Above chrome pole den (Soi Diamond) as busy as most other good quality places in Pattaya. There must be about 40 or more crowding into the space on most nights and although a few have been on the books at Heaven Above they could qualify for superannuation, there are plenty of new faces. Music is still of the car alarm variety, yet even that is of far better standard than I can ever remember, and suits the style of the den. Improving as the Water Levels Rise: It was one of the worst ogling dens in the city at one point but in recent times Wet N Wild (Center Condo, South Pattaya Road) has improved markedly. At least they now have a reasonable number of dancing damsels and many are capable of diving into murky water in search of loose change. The pool at the rear of the den is put to similar use to what used to happen in the long-defunct Freeway den, although the shows aren’t choreographed in any way: it’s just a pure dive for the cash. Good training for any damsels who might be thinking of taking up a lucrative contract diving for abalone or pearls in some exotic South Seas location in the future. A Genuinely Good Watering Hole: Picture a Monday night in late September away from the fleshpots of Walking Street. How many dens of the chrome pole, or any other venue for that matter, are going to be doing strong business? Not many, but on a lazy Monday night the Club Oasis ogling establishment (corner of Soi Buakhow and Soi Chaiyapoom) was bursting with vibrancy and a ton of life. The music is great, prices for the average libation are spot on, there are upwards of 30-40 dancing damsels -many quite easy on the eye- and by and large they’re a friendly bunch, ever ready to shake a hand or an inflated todger. Consider this: Club Oasis first opened its doors in December 2006, just 22 months ago, and over this period it has managed to become one of the best dens in town, bar none. As of Wednesday 24 September the management began opening at 3:00PM; how much this will impact on the overall dynamic of the place is hard to say, although I suspect it’s likely to be more positive than negative. Another, cosmetic, addition to the den is a neon erection out the front that is big enough to do some serious damage to municipal property were it ever to collapse to the pavement. The sign is so big and can be viewed from a long way away let’s hope wandering Bedouins don’t start thinking they can park their camels in the shade while they go foraging for dates. Food for a Night Out: Two places I consider well worth putting on a list of nosheries to visit prior to a night of drinking and debauchery (whatever that is) are the long-running Palmers (Pattayaland Soi 2) and Wi’s (Third Road, opposite the X-Zyte head-bangers auditorium). Palmers is great for English nosh, the fish-and-chips at 160 baht, for example, being great value. The munchery does the odd catering job for dens of the chrome pole, their most recent that I am aware of was for a party at Baby Dolls (Soi 15) in mid-September. Excellent steak-and-kidney pies seem to be a staple from Palmers for these events. Wi’s used to be called Cherry’s and continues the quality and healthy servings of that highly-recommended venue, which has now moved to larger premises about 50 metres down the road. Most of Cherry’s customers have moved with it to the new place (which is also still serving great nosh), but Wi’s is still well worth a visit. Piece of (Aging) Pith: Once you’re over 50: There is nothing left to learn the hard way. From http://www.pattayatoday.net/index.php?acti...ews&id=3643
  23. My sympathies...really! Add this to your list of 20+ reasons....planes leave on time!
  24. Thanks!
  25. I'm putting my moderator hat on now. Sybarite, your signature is libelous and potentially injurious to a business that has consistently provided and honest and well-run service to its customers. I am formally requesting you to remove it simply because it is divisive and unproven...except by your claim. Based on other things you've said, you're not the font of absolute truth on all issues...and, in this case, you are potentially causing real damage, rather than just being a mildly humorous poster. Enough.
