  1. No, you're right, N3. I had some maintenance work to do today. I started it and the forum software was held up by the load on the machine, causing it to be slow or timeout on requests. So, I shut down the forum software for about 1/2 hour and let the maintenance continue. I brought it back online about 4pm GMT+7. There might be a bit more of this over the coming weeks, because my server hosting company has told me they are shutting down the datacenter where the server is hosted. I'll be trying to migrate the board to another server...where yet, I don't know for sure.
  2. I had a nice breakfast there yesterday...good sausage and ham along with nicely done potatoes and a well cooked "over medium" egg. Staff was nice and friendly, and the restaurant/lobby was very clean.
  3. Beer Lao is brewed in Laos. It is not LEO and cannot be bought in 7-11. It is a product of Lao Brewery Company, Ltd. In the last few years, an Asian subsidiary of Carlsberg (Denmark) has become a major investor. For a picture of their products, go to http://www.beer-lao.com/products.php And, BigD, if you see any of these products in 7-11, let me know, because I have always had to call a special single product distributor to get my Beer Lao supplies.
  4. FLB, Pattaya Beer Garden, Secrets, Mistys(?). I think Club Mirage has it. I've seen it around town here and there...it's not that hard to find anymore.
  5. Some ISP providers are offering wireless (not WiFi 802.11x) rather than landline access to the internet. I can't see how an existing customer who has a wired/landline internet connection would be a candidate for a wireless (microwave) solution, so it's probably correct for you, jacko, to read this query as an offer to install a wifi (802.11x) access point in the home. I didn't read it that way, but..if that is the case, here's what you should consider stevoman. You can install a wifi access point in your home without their help and without signing a new contract. Go down to your local computer/internet hardware store and ask for a "wifi access point/router". Many are available for about ... $80 USD. Plug it in and read the installation information. You should be up and running, with laptops and computers connecting "wireless" without having to involve your internet company...and without another 2 year contract. You can plug the wifi access point into your existing "moderm" without any major issues. But, then again, if they are asking if you want an antenna on your roof pointing at some sort of microwave point to give you true wireless, this becomes a whole other issue.
  6. Why don't you give the RH another go?
  7. That's a rough break, cebual. Good luck getting a decent severance package.
  8. This guy wants me to tell you not to worry
  9. Non-members don't have access to PMs.
  10. You should read the forum section INTRODUCTION about how to become a member of the board. Then you will see trip reports and stories from black Americans about their experiences. Being black in Pattaya is absolutely not a problem as far as I can tell. It might even be an advantage!
  11. She's ok, but I've seen much better dropping in to FLB to jam on the odd night. I guess you could say she's an "institution".
  12. I was there tonight...haven't been in a while. I have to say, they have some very cute girls there, and if it wasn't for the fact that my GF was there with me, I might have looked directly at them rather than out of the corner of my eye. I'll definitely be back for a better look. Well done, Robin, Robert and Allen at restocking on lovely girls.
  13. I'll put on one of my special shirts. See you there.
  14. Yes, the server is in America.
  15. Was in last night at 9:30pm (outside of the promotion period), and noticed there were at least 5 shaggable girls around the bar...and no guys made a move in the time I was there.
  16. I don't think that's a fair time to check, because it might be positioning itself as a dinner venue.
  17. I've been by this place, and it seems to be busy each time, so they must be doing something right. However, isn't that "outdoor seating" right on Pattaya Tai?
  18. That's the nominal amount I pay, but then my accountant adds some government fees and VAT to the bill and it ends up being about 22K total.
  19. I've been battling a problem with some periodic process on the server that causes the system to bog down around 4 or 5pm (Thailand time)....every few days. It was particularly hard to recover from it today, so the system was unavailable for over an hour while I poked around looking for a cause. So far, no joy at finding it. Apologies to all who were affected.
  20. I just got back from Ubon and it was cold too. Thank goodness the day before big sister's fiance (now husband) put in an instant hot water device in the shower.
  21. Now they're "guests", lol.
  22. Return or one-way? Weekday or weekend? High season or low season?
  23. I heard (a rumor?) last week that BP2 had been raided and possibly closed. Anyone else heard a similar story? If it was closed, how long was the closure?
  24. The LK Renaissance might qualify for 4* status. They have a rate for FLB board members that you can ask for. Sometimes their house rate/discount is better, so check both. I've never stayed there, but have heard good things from those who have.
  25. I just bought my first mayonnaise in Thailand today, as a matter of fact. I was looking for Best Mayonnaise, but the closest I could find was Kraft Real Mayonnaise. Just had some and it was fine...and no problem with the consistency or separation. I did notice that Foodland actually makes their own and sells it in the deli section. I might try that, since it comes in a small container. I've had Sam's food before, and his quality was good. I would make a special trip for the carne asada quesadillas.
