  1. A Google search gives quite a few tips. Here's the first one that came up: http://www.signvideo.com/conv-v-to-d.htm
  2. Over the years, since Sam was the manager of the first VW Bar in Pattaya, situated in the parking lot of the LK Metropole, I've had the pleasure of many late late nightcaps at his bar with friends. Last year, Sam's boss got into a dispute with his partner, who opened another VW bar somewhere. The original VW bar had to move because of a rent increase on the LK Metropole parking space. Now, there are at least 6 VW Bars all over Pattaya...but Sam was, in many ways, the one that made it happen, due to his wacky personality and unfailing ability to remember his customers from year to year. Well, now Sam has started his very own VW bar, aptly named "SamBar". It is on the corner of Soi LK Metro and Soi Diana. Good luck, Sam!
  3. I have no idea who those people are, where it is, or who took those photos. BTW, short. I think you've got one.
  4. Aside from those business owners running websites, where does the issue of censorship arise? I'm really at a loss as to what prompted this post or its purpose.
  5. There is a website, but I can't recall where at the time, that allows you to buy and sell airmiles. I know this doesn't help, but Emil's comment that it should be possible is true, as far as I know. I did find the following (via Google, of course), but it's not the site I was looking for. http://www.biztravelbrokers.com/pages/more...g_airmiles.html
  6. Pete said: In the meantime, to be a bit more stylish, might I recommend something like this? It's hard for the girls and guys to see the coaster on the bar, you know?
  7. Robin's Nest has opened a new outlet on Soi Buakhao, distinct from the restaurant on Soi Diana.
  8. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
  9. I am only asking people who sent them an email to reply.
  10. Okay, let's say 50 meters. Is that so far?
  11. As one who lives within sight of the Irish Rovers Bar, Soi Buakhao and Soi Dianna, I absolutely agree with you Emil, except I would have said it might be 50 meters. All else you say is spot on. It's very convenient to the baht bus routes in this area.;
  12. How'd it go last night? I was planning on dropping in, but got hung up in the bar by a band of heavy drinkers (rightsaid leading the pack). And Ergodyne came by on his birthday, and I had to twist his arm to jam with the band.
  13. Got the new one. Wait till tomorrow for the response.
  14. Never got it!
  15. I'm probably in your bar as much as you are.
  16. I spent an hour or so with the reservations clerk and the manager of marketing at the LK Metropole to try and resolve the issue of the lack of response. We found the emails from the members of the board (some of whom have commented here) in their mailbox. I don't know why they didn't see them initially. They assured me they would get back to the writers of the emails. Has anyone received a reply to their email from the hotel(s) lately?
  17. bestmate, welcome to the world of computerized bill keeping. At many gogos and bars in town, computers are now being used for tracking orders. When your friend ordered, a bill was created for him, as well as one for you. Just moving the paper from his bill cup to yours does not combine the bills. It has to be done by the cashier. This is why the waitress needed to take your bills and his back to the cashier to combine them. There are customer advantages to this system. First, you can no longer get charged for a drink where someone moves their paper into your cup while you are not looking. Secondly, your total is always available to you on your bin while it is in your possession. No more trips back to the cashier to total your bin and come back with some number written on a piece of paper. Also, because the pricing is in the computer, and Bacardi coke was not a happy hour drink, the waitress was not messing with your friend. As others have said, if you order happy hour rum, you usually get whatever the bar chooses to call "rum". You can't pick Havana Club, Captain Morgan or Bacardi and expect the happy hour pricing.
  18. That's probably true. I've only heard Lam playing (not blues), and a few songs by the Blues Machine...but all I can remember is them doing classic rock.
  19. We have a business section. I'm moving this post there.
  20. Actually, I've never ever heard blues in the Blues Factory.
  21. How a simple question and an obviously tongue-in-cheek reply "it's almost impossible to get laid" (meant humorously from what I could see) could turn into a public abandonment of this board and a personal boycott of FLB is baffling to me. Truly. Some of you guys are getting a bit wound up.
  22. I'd like a really good USDA Prime T-bone steak. Seriously, if you have a bit of room, a couple of tins of Altoids Peppermint (white with red trim container) would be appreciated. Ok, if you can bring the steak, that would be great too.
  23. Same here, FM. Up until PattayaPete posted, I was unable to load the first page of the site. Now it seems okay. A temporary glitch.
  24. Right now, because they are suffering from low occupancy, the special rates they are offering are better than the FLB rate. Go with the low season we-can't-fill-our-rooms rate for now. I'm getting quite frustrated with this situation. It appears they gave me they wrong email forwarding address...or the staff is reading the wrong email address and management didn't tell them they had changed. The marketing manager has been absent for 2 days. I've spoken with the lowly reservation clerk, not the big boss, and she confirmed she can't open the email account the big boss gave me. WTF? The saga continues. As posted here, however, the low season rate is better than the FLB corporate rate now anyway, so you can contact them directly at lk_rsvn@yahoo.com for that rate.
