Yes, now i do too. I wonder if that box has enough processing power to handle HD streams. I know I bought a cheapo one before I got the Minix X8, and it just doesn't have the processing power to do HD, and even recorded media is a bit jerky. I also found setting the thing up with all the features was very time consuming...no fun for me at all.

Butch, I read many of, if not all of, the Flashman series in college, which was before the incandescent bulb, but from atlas's recommendation, I wanted to read them again. They are tiny, but packed with humor. So, I just looked on my favorite torrent site and found a collection of all the Flashman series in order. It took 2 minutes to download and another two to hook up the Kindle Paperwhite and load them up. Feel free to hang out in second hand bookstores and car boot sales looking to get them in the written order (they are chronologically related), but if you are really interested in the content rather than the texture (and Flashman books as I recall had some prurient content for that time period, so who knows what that sticky page might be caused by), then get yourself a Kindle or use your Ipad to read...it's the way to go. Time to embrace the present and stop living in the past (except for the books we read).

No question this has been the lightest rainy season for ages. I'm starting to get worried about the water supply for the rest of the year. I really thought, if September didn't yield much rain, October would make up for it, but here we are midway into October and the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and it looks like bright skies are coming our way. I'm missing wading through knee deep filthy flood waters as they cascade down the drains and streets from eastern Pattaya. I never thought I'd say that. It just occurred to me, with my accursed market timing and Bitcoin purchases, I might have inadvertently stopped the rainy season by purchasing the best rain gear I've ever had this year. It's a poncho raincoat that I've not yet had the chance to open, and it's been over a week since I bought it.

Come enjoy your vacation under martial law and the junta. You couldn't make this up.

Chris, I have to admit, I was impressed with this bunch and their stated initiatives to clean things up...but that was just talk. The entrenched corruption and local powers are much stronger in Chonburi than Phuket. They've not made a dent in any of it since their initial campaign to go after license violations and shisha smokers. Nothing, nada, zip. And now with the late disclosures of the Looney tunes tea leaf and sign reading of the guy, along with his penchant for denying any problems..(or else you're hauled in front of a military tribunal), I think we've seen enough to know that this cloud has no silver linings whatsoever.

The point is that the head guy is supporting those same Keystone cops but from the Foreign Office... The Koh Tao situation is not a local issue, it's gone international, and the head guy is digging in his heels. Nothing wrong here, folks, keep moving, and don't say bad things, cause we don't allow that in Thailand.

There is SO MUCH more I'd like to say, especially to those who thought it was a good thing to have the military take over in what was obviously an engineered setup against the populist democracy that had existed. Oh yes, Thailand had corruption, and now they think it's getting cleaned up? Haha. It's just moving the money to different pockets. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...except worse, because nobody can vote the establishment/army out of power anymore..it's built into the new constitution coming up. Actually, why even bother to have a constitution? There is no representation and the rule of law was tossed out when the junta abrogated the constitution anyway.Just accept the fact it's an undemocratic government, make laws and rules that suit the whims of Mr. P or his successors., and stop trying to sugar coat it with a "constitution" that just gives them the right to appoint their cronies in controlling numbers in parliament anyway. Oh well. Never mind. Not my business.I just feel sad for the Thai people that have to be represented by such a system..it must be very embarrassing.
