  1. The unfortunate reality is that the majority of that rubbish is the result of Thais. The garbage barges that take refuse from Koh Larn regularly drop their "load" before returning to the mainland and then head back to Koh Larn for another pickup. Depending on wind and current directions it either drifts out into the Gulf or lands on a beach somewhere nearby. On some days the garbage "slick" that results from the dumping can be more than 100m across and plays sheer bloody havoc with the propellors of the larger boats servicing the tourist industry. On 2 occasions over the last 6 months we've had to stop and unwrap "plastic bag fish" from the prop because some lazy fucking Thai operator was trying to save a few baht at the expense of the Pattaya beaches. If you got rid of the selfish Thai element and the scamming jetski operators, then policed the beach area to stop the lazy falangs throwng rubbish over their shoulder Pattay beach would scrub up quiet well. Sadly I cant see this happening in my lifetime. Cheers : Admiral Ken PS: When are you lot going start to realise that most of the bad ones are NOT Russian? Try learning to tell the difference between Russians and Arabs for christ sake. Most of the Russians I know here (and they now constitute more than 50% of my business) are HORRIFIED by people discarding rubbish in the streets. The same can't be said about the "pack Indians" unfortunately, so you did get half of it right.
  2. A few BMs have got together and organised a St Patricks Day cruise for themselves and their thai GFs. The cruise will depart around 10am March 17th at Bali Hai Pier (Pier E) After talking with bigstuy last night we have decided to open up a few extra spots to increase the craic. Note that it is for couples ONLY, no singles and BYOW (bring your own woman) This is an invite limited cruise please contact me on 0853897055 before midnight on the 16th, if you wish to attend. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  3. Seems I'm not the only one changing headings LOL. I 100% checked that when I discussed it with the staff as I have seen others caught this way before. When I found it it was in the latest news area. Seems they rehash things like every other news outlet (and some forums). - anyway, still shows how much everyone listened last year. - now just waiting for the usual mob to attack. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  4. Sorry, got interrupted during the posting and as the comments and subsequent post reveal (INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL HIGHLIGHTS) the intention was "alcohol" not water. Mistake corrected. Cheers : Admiral Ken PS: Nobody seemed to notice that the local police "tend to stay away from the water as much as they can", but who cares about the reported "facts" as long as you can bag someone? Some of you need to get a life ....
  5. I think he's retired but try this guy. Cheers Admiral Ken
  6. A couple of comments from my staff when I told them about this: Tak - "Who him? He crazy! No one listen in Pattaya. Him CRAZY!!!" The Captain - When he stopped laughing he just shook his head and said "NO" laughed again and said "people not listen" Captains assistant - "many many people listen one people - no, have Songkran before, no-one listen" Tak - "will have many many people win, not listen him" Cheers Admiral Ken It's actually become quite a topic for amusemnet down here at the pier, never seen so many Thais laughing - shows how much they respect local government LOL
  7. From: Link to Pattaya One news story Still LMFAO Cheers Admiral Ken
  8. Fido, I understand late but WHEN IS IT? Cheers : Admiral Ken PS Say hi to the girls for me.
  9. Hi Wayne, follow the link in my signature and give me a call - 0870399353 The first week in March is not the best time for fishing (moon and tides wrong) but I can discuss your options if you want to call. Cheers : Admiral Ken (Boat Rentals Pattaya Co Ltd)
  10. G'day mate, hope you're well. We'll drop in that night and take some photos for you. Hope to see you back soon in 100% condition. Cheers, : Admiral Ken
  11. Just goes to show: with the right statistics, you can prove anything. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  12. Friendship on Pattaya Tai has them as well Cheers : Admiral Ken
  13. Been using SCB (Siam - the purple one) for 18 months now and they're great. The online access is easy to use, no accouont keeping fees (they even pay interest - small but better than nothing) and you can have multiple accounts and link them together with internet banking. This allows you to move money from a primary account into one (or more) accounts for your teelack/s. They have a branch in Tuk Com and branches all over the place. Signing up on a 30 day visa is a bit hit and miss however - just bring evidence of your rent and passport etc and most of the time it's OK. If you can get an official rental receipt you can go to immigration on Soi 5 at Jomtien and get a residence certificate (200 or 400 baht, I forget) and this will guarantee you an account when you apply. Other thing too is ALWAYS transfer money into your account from overseas in your sending currency (ie Oz dollars if from Australia) as the exchange rates they give for TTs are better than the money exchanges. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  14. Locally the event is referred to as "Countdown" ... ie the countdown to New Year. The whole event is organised by City Hall (Pattaya City Council) with sponsorship from various organisations around Pattaya. There is no bar that I know of that has any involvement with the organisation or sponsorship (correct me if Im wrong here) The pier area is the local port for vaious fishing and tour vessels along with the ferry services to Koh Larn. The pier itself is a government owned area (as opposed to the private facility at Ocean Marina - about 10-15km south). As correctly stated it is one of Pattaya's more common venues for celebrations and the fireworks display is usually quite good. Last year there was a world record attempt for the largest firework - unfortunately there were some problems and instead of breaking a record they broke some other things (and set fire to a few areas) in the process. I wouldn't be surprised to see another attempt again this year though I have no official knowledge of such an attempt. The pier is located at the southern end of Walking St and is a 5 - 10 minute walk from FLB. There is a small bar at the office area of the pier and many stalls will be selling alcohol and food during the festive season this year. I have a boat moored at Pier E (furthest pier out), 75 foot, 3 decks, 27 tonne and operate the ONLY fully licensed bar on a moving boat in the area. We're quite busy duiring this period but I'm planning on being open many nights for a few hours, if I don't fall asleep from exhaustion because of our schedule. Drop in and say HI - everyone is welcome (well mostly everyone LOL). We are already fully booked for New Years Eve and I'll post the pictures from the fireworks and celebrations on our Facebook page as we go along. We have the best vantage point in Pattaya without doubt. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  15. Kev will probably do the first meeting for free. You'd need to verify that but most lawyers will talk with you first to ascertain the requirements and determine the direction that they will recommend. He'll then give you an estimate and after that it's up to you if you want to engage him. Give me a call when you get in and we'll have a few brews, with the girls if you want. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  16. Try Kevin Harper of "British Law" on 3rd Rd in Pattaya about 200m south of Pattaya Klang. Great bloke to get along with and will set you in the right direction. His prices are reasonable and he will advise the most efficient and safe way (for you) to establish your security in the situation. Tell him that "Ken from the boat" sent you. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  17. Great stuff Mick, may we all have a Happy Fathers' Day Cheer : Admiral Ken
  18. OK I've worded it badly. You need to obtain the re-entry permit BEFORE leaving. If you leave without a re-entry permit your extension expires as soon as you've left. Of course the extension won't expire before you leave the country, but you cannot obtain a re-entry permit after you leave ie you need to obtain it "BEFORE leaving". The recommended course of action is to apply for a multiple re-entry permit when you get your extension renewed, that way you can leave and return freely until such time as your extension expires. Joe, the correct terms are "visa extension" and "re-entry permit". Neither of them is a visa. The extension extends the validity of the original visa. This may help http://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand/re-ent...it-thailand.php The link details the Bangkok office but you can obtain the permit at Soi 5 Jomtien. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  19. Good guess. The extension will expire if you dont have a re-entry permit BEFORE leaving Cheers : Admiral Ken
  20. Funky, next time you get that close to the prick - take him back with you. He's the only reason you guys have a chance. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  21. The one tthat Glyn mentions in the previous post is called Bpoo Bpen (live crab) and they have been doing some renovations over the last few months. The variety has increased and the quality is always good. On rare occasions the service can be a bit hit and miss when there is a Korean or Chinese tour group in there, I'm that impressed with the food that we're looking at doing dinner cruises down there next year. Glyn, when you're back next time we'll take the girls (whoever they are at the time) down for a good feed one day. Cheers : Admiral Ken PS if you want to be mischievious tell the group operator that you'll give the group a copy of the REAL menu prices if they dont give you a discount or a cut. Watch them "have kittens" while they figure out if you're serious LOL (Just dont do this if the tour operator is 6'6 and 300lbs). The prices they charge these tour groups is extortionate in the least.
  22. Sounds like you've got a great market here now since Viktor Bout has been extradited to the US. Always a hole to fill somewhere - Cheers : Admiral Ken
  23. So politically incorrect - I LOVE IT Cheers :gukp: Admiral Ken
  24. Tax evader , but seriously - local businessman (boat tours) but also own other businesses in Oz, eCommerce and electronics related. I suppose at this stage I should say the first part is a joke (or someone will probably grass me LOL) Cheers : Admiral Ken
  25. While driving around town every day for the last year or more I have seen at least 10 - 20 "red light runners" every day. This is at major intersections with the normal traffic lights. Why does anyone think that the pedestrian lights will change that behaviour? Dont walk, drive ..... but take something STRONG first Cheers : Admiral Ken
