June special, Margarita's 100 Baht
2 slices short replied to 2 slices short's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
No, didn't miss anything. On the boat - we have the only bar license on any boat at Bali Hai (in fact no other boat in the Pattaya area has one). We can technically operate as a bar just sitting at the wharf and as low season starts we may be doing so on a couple of days a week. .... errr, correction, actually you did miss something. The Idea originated from a post in BBQ Bobs business thread by lovedog. Cheers : Admiral Ken -
When did Family Mart and 7-11 in Suvarnabhumi
2 slices short replied to Odense's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
They seem to be phasing out the cards in favour of the printed slips - makes sense as no stock is required. Some of them also do an instant topup via the terminals at the 7-11. You enter your phone number (or the number you want to top up) and within seconds it's done for you online. Great system for topping up someone elses phone. We use it for all the staff phones as it means I don't have to chase them for receipts. As a side point it will also work with a phone that is switched off or overseas. If you have a local bank account with internet access some of the banks allow you to "do it online" also. I know SCB does for certain and I suspect that Kasikorn has the same facility (but don't hold me to that. Cheers : Admiral Ken -
I'm always happy to meet fellow BMs - I look forward to it Cheers : Admiral Ken

BBQ Bob's Board Member Promotion for 2011!
2 slices short replied to bbqbob's topic in Restaurants and food
Great idea lovedog : see here -> lovedog100 Margarita Specials Yor first one is on the house Randy Cheers : Admiral Ken PS Bob - he had a good point, sorry. -
Ram, your topics were being deleted BECAUSE YOU USED ALL CAPS - I believe. MM hinted to it a few times. This one should stay as you've corrected the problem. With the prices you've quoted I would look to one of the MANY steel fabrication places around and take photos with you of what you want (close/detailed pictures of examples), the areas you want to cover (close pictures of each wiodow and door) and a list of dimensions for each. Take a fluent Thai speaker with you and make sure they understand what you want first. Many of the steel fabrication places do work so cheap that I don't even consider doing stuff like that myself now unless it takes less than 10 minutes. As an example of one that I use I got a fully built trailer (for our jet-ski) with all attachments and fittings for fractionally more than your top quote. That included dipping the whole bloody thing for galvanising so it's sea-water proof! The cost of raw materials here is surprisingly cheap and labour is next to nothing. There are loads of these places around Pattaya - contact me via PM if you want some recommendations for ones that I've used or call one of the contact numbers in my links. Cheers : Admiral Ken Still trying to help despite some BMs PS If you really need help this is no longer the best board to go to - pity but true. Try Secrets - you'll still get some useless responses but there will be more helpful ones than not. Maybe the General Forum (open to everyone) should be "flame free" then PT won't look like a bunch of wankers to the browsing public. (That'll get me into trouble LOL)

Clothes alterations cost

100 Baht would be a fair price - stay away from the tailors. You will also find that any laundry will organise this for you as well. Cheers : Admiral Ken -

Probaly not ... but obviously some of their wives think they are. As for trouble - we're already in it. Cheers : Admiral Ken -
From what wet dream did you get that information? I had a few beers with Adam (Hammer) the night before last whilst discussing some business. Larry I see usually 1 to 2 times a week depending on how busy I am and whilst I no longer frequent Martin's establishment, we've seen enough of each other in the past for both of us (see next reply about MM's pic). I think he'd agree. Jeez it's so hard to find a picture of me ... now let me see try the links at the bottom of ANY of my posts. You'll even see pics of MM and Hammer (Adam) on the facebook page. Lally doesn't come out to play that much LOL but I've got some with him in Secrets that will be up soon too. Too hard was it? And neither would I. But as noted above, unlike you I'm out there for the world to see, complete with email addresses, direct phone contact numbers and a physical address where you can find me when I'm in the "office". Admittedly I have that for the 3 barowners you mentioned but NONE of them make all of that information public as I do. If you really mean no offence you'd research your comments before opening your mouth and stop trying to justify them restrospectively with bullshit. You seem to have taken this personnaly. As I asked you before who appointed you as the arbiter of morality and virtue here? ... or anywhere for that matter? The request was not from you so what business is it of yours? If nothing else your reactions are disprportionate to your involvement. So why do you continue with the slighting of my character (albeit indirectly) when I have offered you the opportunity to meet me and decide for yourself without sprouting uninformed comment - or are you just a mouthpiece for someone else here? And so do I - that's why I offered assistance - so far WHAT POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION HAVE YOU MADE? .... and don't say that you were cautioning the OP that's total BS, any half decent parent would already been aware of that. Oh ... I forgot, you directed them to ThaiVisa - another forum frequented by visitors to Thailand (and mongers) You dont read much do you? The question was about getting a nanny locally err Pattaya/Nakluea specifically - so your suggestion NOW is to forget the nanny and export the kid/s? - that's classic !!! Now that's interesting. Maybe you could show us where you said that in you initial reply or the reply you made to my offer of assistance. Stop trying to defend your smartarse comment by offering bullshit excuses and quoting non-exisistent posts. Posted 26 May 2011 - 06:31 AM : Have you checked at Thaivisa.com? Posted 26 May 2011 - 08:13 AM : No offense intended but who vouches for you? Did I leave anything out? That was your TOTAL contribution to that stage. So where's this warning about it being out of place? Incidentally all of the (mongers) board forum members that I know also read ThaiVisa - so you were sending them to a board already populated by numerous mongers You're seriously lacking any credibility here I wouldn't be so sure about Larry after his recent op LOL. As for Glitterman I was so tempted to run over him "accidentally" on the pier a few nights ago - I don't know what stopped me I wouldn't trust him to help old ladies cross the street - read some of his posts if you're in doubt. I have also met him and he definately has a screw loose. Maybe Midlife would recommend him. After all he is well known, has pictures of himself on most forums and also in many newspapers locally and looks just the type to amuse kids. I rarely agree with Joe, and won't start now. This forum also has a collection of experienced professionals from MANY respected occupations and from all walks of life. Just because JK says it doesn't mean it's gospel. The combining factor is more an interest in Pattaya. Yes it's ALSO a mongers forum, and before it took a huge dive in quality was also a great resource for visitors to Pattaya (and Thailand in general). As for anonymous - total BULLSHIT. I have met many of the posters on here (including the 3 barowners mentioned above). Anonimity is permitted on the forum (and anonymous members should be treated with extreme caution, eg JK) but anonimity is NOT a requirement here. Thanks Jacko - I'm also a member of BOTH expats clubs Whilst my business does have a bar license it is not the principal part of my business. Unlike the others mentioned most of my customers are families or couples, tourists and locals, Thais, expats and foreign tourists - the sort of people who may know someone suitable for the OP. By all of your and Midlife's criteria, I may actually be one of the better people to ask LOL Cheers : Admiral Ken @Midlife : the links are just below here - in case you can't find them

Hi Michelangelo, Got your PM but been busy and have talked to a couple of girls, will PM today. As a general bit of advice for anyone doing this some of the questions they all ask are (in no specific order): How much? Working hours? Live in or casual? Cooking required? Thai, Western etc? List of duties? How old are the kids and how many? Any "special" requirements? For how long and when want start? Asking them to nominate a fee is a complete waste of time so you need a figure (or range) in mind when looking for this. @ Randy, thanks mate - unlike the others who are criticising here you've met me and whilst you don't know me intimately (thankfully I dont have boobs LOL) I appreciate the comment. The final decision to hire anyone for this would ultimately rest with the party requiring the services - not me, not the rest of you. I simply offered to help - obviously that's now considered a crime on PT. When I joined this board there was a far greater level of assistance that BMs offerred each other. Sadly that has gone the way of the posters who are obviously now either inactive or frequenting different boards. If it wasn't for JK and a literal handful of others there would be no new content on this board at all. Even Gawd Elpus and Villa seem to have given up. @ Midlife, when did any of the 3 "well known" expats ever tell you who they are publicly? I'm sure many of us would be greatful (amused) if you post some links to this for us - it could even help someone. If you wish to meet me or know about me I suggest that you do what you most likely did with those 3 and visit my establishment - hell I'll even buy you a drink or 2. Then you can make an informed comment as opposed to your perevious attempt. If you're not interested, I won't be distraught over it @ Jacko, was that question rhetorical? I'm sure we'd like to know. I've never asked any of them. For the record I have 1 (29 yo) and have previously been approved by the NSW state government in Australia as a "suitable person" to work with kids. Anyone working with school-children in NSW is required to undergo a police background check and investigation. It's worth SFA but it's better than nothing. I know that in many cases I'd select a girl who has had kids (and experience) over one who has none, though many "older sisters" tend to do much of the parenting/nannying back in the village giving them this experience. The final choice still rests with the employer. Cheers : Admiral Ken

how much can you withdraw from ATM
2 slices short replied to singhapleez's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not sure about Kasikorn but many of the banks operate on the same systems. When I worked on this sort of thing in Australia there were only 3 major provider of card services in the whole country. Each user interface (ATM or card swipe unit) was branded by the bank but ultimately they all went back to one of the 3 and the greater majority (over 65%) went to the main player. As the limit system is part of what I'm talking about here I would be shocked if you couldn't change the limits at Kasikorn similar to SCB. As far as I know at the moment there are only 3 (ultimate providers) that I have found in Thailand so this would further re-inforce my suspicions. BREAKING NEWS ---- OK just got an update from the GF (who is with Kasikorn): the answer is YES, just contact the bank. I'll leave the other stuff there as it relates to non-Kasikorn questions and may help someone else Cheers : Admiral Ken PS As a clarification, the banks normally (in most countries) dont own the ATM/card processing networks. Some (in fact many) in Thailand have their own but economies of scale tend to make the systems gravitate towards a few independant service providers. Things are heading that way in Thailand as I type this. -
Firstly I predominately took offense at Spike's comment, he's obviously succeeded in his quest to cause disruption and your involvement was as a facilitator. Since when were you the self appointed Sherrif of morals and the protector of all things to do with children? I am happy to try to help anyone but in cases like this would want some satisfaction that the requests were genuine - that is not a situation for public debate. If anyone requesting something like this is unaware of the potential dangers then they are unbelievably dumb. Both the welfare of the child AND the welfare of the potential employee need to be considered. If I intend to facilitate the juncture then that should morally fall on me to do - not some stranger from a mongers forum about Pattaya. By all means send the OP (or whoever) a PM to warn them but the way your (one line) response was worded did not imply your concern for the child/children but just another troll post trying to denigrate someone who you dont know The OP has the option to ignore my offer or take it up and further discuss it privately (READ MY FIRST REPLY) - interestingly others have PM'd me requesting assitance. Who's doing more good for the board? You and Spike with your negative attitude (and post ratings)? I dont think so. This is my last attempt to get you to try and understand what I've said - anyone who is genuinely interested in this sort of thing can PM me, at least we wont have to put up with the negative BS from the useless forum members in PMs. ... and finally try reading my posts - most of this is in there already. I've got more productive things to do. Cheers : Admiral Ken PS The fact that you don't know me (from Adam) is probably a glowing recommendation FOR ME in its own right.
-
... and I accept your concern as warranted but that is up to the op to determine, not for public discussion on a mongers forum. Of course I would be able to supply that information, in private, to anyone interested in what I was offering and would be concerned for those that I would recommend if the information wasn;t requested. Oh and I also am a parent. I must admit I was more incensed by that idiot Spike's comment than yours but I stick by my reply in that I was trying to assist and criticism, and the request was unwarranted publicly. No wonder this board has fallen by the wayside with all the negative comments. The reason you were even included in my 'rant' was that it was your post that gave the tiny brained one an opportunity to yet again slag off someone. Whn I first came to Pattaya this board was a wealth of information and I still post here out of a sense of loyalty to repay the kind assistance I have received from many BMs. Unfortunately it is no longer a friendly source of assistance and posters like Spike who contribute NOTHING positive will only continue to drive away the good members. I'm sure many people who would like to help have become fed up with defending themselves, as a 'penalty' for trying to assist. The sad result is that the board subsequently loses the resources that made it a valable asset in the past. Because I'm a member of this forum doesn't mean that I'm prepared to divulge to EVERYONE all of my lifes details. Where required and for a good cause I have no problems. In this case I know a number of girls who genuinely are not suited to the bar-girl scene but are stuck here out of loyalty to the family in order to get money. Many of them have children of their own and would love to get a real non-P4P job. If I can facilitate connecting two people who have a mutual need and desire that would benefit both. It would be my intention not only to ensure that the girl is suitable but that the person making the request is also suitable - but I would NEVER attempt to do that publicly. Let's get this board back to helping people and see if there's some way to remove, isolate or cage the unhelpul element who have all but destroyed what was once the best resource for information about the scene in Pattaya. Cheers : Admiral Ken

how much can you withdraw from ATM
2 slices short replied to singhapleez's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Some SCB machines allow 25 banknotes per transaction (25000 Baht) and you can set your ATM daily limit to 200,000 Baht. As long as you have a balance in the account there are no fees and they keep them open unless the account is inactive for an extended period (seems to be more than 2 years but not 100%). Transferring money into it, whatever the amount, or using the card, many of them are Visa Debit cards useable anywhere in the world, will keep the account alive indefinately. At a branch yuu can withdraw up to the available funds in your account (Ive done over 2 million on one occasion) but they will require your passport for a transaction over your ATM limit. I found out the hard way that they are completely inflexible on the ID requirement and would not even accept my Thai drivers license, or a photocopy of the passport. Inconvenient but nice to know that there is a level of security there. They did start to introduce interbank ATM fees here a while back but I believe that it's either in limbo or on its way out. Someone else may know the REAL details on this as there are many conflicting reports in the media (not at all unusual here LOL) CHeers : Admiral Ken -
Spike as a now established businessman in Pattaya I'm trying to help out some people and this is your best effort ? FUCK OFF As for you MID life - go and get one, you're as sad a piece of shit as coleman's impersonator, regardless of your "disclaimer" it's unwarranted in a thread asking for assistance.

Send me a message via my website address (see below) apparently you are not permitted to receive PMs. I know a number of reliable girls who are looking for this sort of work. Cheers : Admiral Ken

Russians in Pattaya
2 slices short replied to peckerwood's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Mommy probably wouldn't let you go any further than the end of the street then. I've worked in both the former Soviet Union, a number of the member states of the CIS and later former Soviet Republics. (Ive also worked in the USA) My wife (from Moldova - when I met her a Soviet Republic) was a professor of English at the University of Kishinev and I had many opportunities to talk with her friends and family. I'm not going to try and educate you peckerhead as you're obviously too brainwashed but I can assure you that many of them had travelled (without restriction) and my wife had been to New York before I met her, with a University exchange program. It assisted us greatly in procuring her visa to travel to Australia as she already had the passport and prior travel. Frequent topics of discussion with her friends and family related to world events and I admit I was initially shocked, I too had been fed the BS about their ignorance and travel restrictions etc. These people were genuinely warm and great fun to be with. In the city areas they were far better informed and educated than many of the places I've travelled to - and that's a lot. The country areas resemble the country areas of Issan (without icicles and snow in Winter) and I find the people in both areas warm and accomodating, unfortunately both groups tend to be less educated than their city compatriots - but no less happy. I honestly prefer the "country" folk and will eventually retire to Issan in an environment where the worries of the so called "educated world" can go by without any of us noticing, or caring. I'm not really anti US (really) but I AM ANTI BS. Uneducated trolls like you are the tools that the propoganda artists use to spread their lies and deception. The US just happens to be the world leader in propoganda at the moment but it has meny rivals for the position, including but not limited to: the UK, France, Australia, Israel and many muslim nations. Before you judge a people live there, visit the many different levels of society, clear your mind of pejudice and OPEN YOUR BLOODY EYES and ears. The world is very different to what you'll read on the internet or what your government wants you to see in the media. I need to get back to work - I have a group of Russian tourists to take out on the boat tomorrow and have some preparations to do. Cheers : Admiral Ken -
We must have had the same history teacher. Cheers : Admiral Ken

Russians in Pattaya
2 slices short replied to peckerwood's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Im sitting out past Koh Larn now on a boat with a Russian family. As with all of my Russian clients they are very well behaved and a pleasure to have on-board. What you have been subject to is nothing more than propoganda, propogated by people who have no idea what Russia (or the old USSR) is or was about. Communism was so bad that when they started "democratic" elections, the comunists were voted back IN. The Russian people are a pleasure to be with and I for one am happy to see their increasing numbers in Pattaya. The naysayers always come up with the "rude atitude" but try talking to a yank in a foreign languae (Thai is a good one to try here) and all you'll get is an ever increasing level of volume as they try to get you to understand what they want. HINT - doesnt matter how loud you yell, if they dont speak English you're pushing shit up-hill. The Russians have a similar problem in that MOST of the OLDER ones dont have any grasp of English or Thai so what many interpret as "rudeness" is little more than frustration. As for the greatest "evil" of all time - ask the murderers who spat out that crap, then look into what they did to the USSR during the transitional time of the 80s - You may find iout who the real criminals in this world are. Cheers : Admiral Ken PS there was NEVER a travel ban on Russian citizens - more BS from the US -
I'm looking for two pieces of Kevlar around 15cm x 15cm (or a larger piece that I can cut) from somewhere local. err thats approx 6" x 6" for the yanks. Need to do some re-inforcing/repairs to my beloved jet-ski Any help appreciated Cheers : Admiral Ken

Whilst I have the greatest respect for Tony these are the times when a second opinion is worthwhile - in case something has been inadvertently overlooked. See Post #3 this thread. Cheers : Admiral Ken
