  1. AFAIK the latest is that DM will reopen on march 25 for some/most domestic flights. Thai Airways has said no, but its subsidiary Nok Air wll move and so will most domestic airlines. No international flights however as there'll be no passport control or customs.
  2. Rembrandt is the hotel SAS use for their aircrews.
  3. Today all flights are using the new aiport. It's planned that Don Muang will reopen 25th this month for some domestic airlines, Nok Air is one but several more, but no international flights.
  4. If you want to buy land in your own name you must invest 40,000,000 baht in cooperation with BoI and they let you buy 1 rai of land to build a house.
  5. Many thais from Jomtien, East Pattaya and Pattaya go to Naklua market so try that one first, else there're small markets in many places, at least one even in East Pattaya.
  6. Yes, at Pattaya Sports Stadium, Chaiyaphruek Road TAT
  7. Nok is a subsidiary of Thai Airways but do they not just fly domestic flights. I guess that maybe Malaysian Airline is flying there - so you can travel Jakarta - KL - BKK.
  8. If you can show that you used the bank system for sending the money to Thailand there's no problem sending the money out again. However, if you brought cash to Thailand you can have a problem.
  9. We bought a small motorbike on Soi Buakaow more than 1 year ago and full insurance was included for 1 year, but the seller explained it wasn't possible to renew that whatever money we paid. Just the 3rd party insurance was possible to get after 1 year, at least from that insurance company.
  10. TGF heard that the policemen now get a percentage of the fines so they don't take bribes, don't know if it's true or not. I you don't have enough money you risk that they take you to the police station and there you will stay until somebody comes and pay the rest of the fine. 2nd Rd just before the Dolphin and after the Dolphin on North Pattaya Rd (outside Best Supermarket) are 2 other traps, at least 4-5 times a week they're there.
  11. A comment to Tai Pan hotel, it's normally regarded as not guest friendly. Some say if you use internet rates or some discount price you must pay a joiner fee if it's wrong persons in the reception. I often stay there with TGF and if we not arrive together I must give her name and they checking her ID when she arrives so the name I gave was correct, but we didn't have any problem taking an extra girl to the room in the night. Also the cheaper prices don't include breakfast and you will stay on lower floors in rooms ready for renovation.
  12. Both, as both A and B are common in Thailand.
  13. Do you have a friend who know more about computers than you? You see, reg = registry and it's not a good idea of doing anything in the registry if you don't know exactly what you're doing, if you make a mistake you can lose all information on the pc.
  14. Tiger flies for 44 baht S'pore-Bangkok Singapore (dpa) - Tiger Airways has launched 1.99 Singapore dollar (43.84 baht, $1.30) seat sales to three Thai cities in a promotion lasting until January 31, 2008, the low-cost carrier said on Sunday. The 1.5 million seats available for "early bird saver" fares to selected destinations are one-way and exclude taxes. The fares apply "even for festive year-end holidays" if passengers book months in advance of their flight departure dates, said chief marketing officer Rosalynn Tay in a statement. A 5.99-Singapore-dollar (132 baht, $3.94) fare is available to Bangkok and Chiang Mai, 8.99 Singapore dollars (198 baht, $5.91) to Darwin, Australia and 9.99 Singapore dollars (220 baht, $6.57) to the Indonesian city of Padang. Singapore Airlines-backed Tiger currently flies to six cities in Thailand, two in Vietnam, four in China, one in Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and Singapore. The carrier is scheduled to start its Perth route on March 23. Bangkok Post
  15. Yes it's good but Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and Pattaya International Hospital are better but also more expensive. I think the Sri Racha hospital is good if you've a limited wallet or no insurance covering it. I always use Pattaya International but TGF prefers Bangkok Pattaya Hospital - we both have insurances.
  16. I compared the prices with this site which some friends say is the best for Bangkok hotels and almost the same as you've got already.
  17. I've departed twice (november and february) and haven't seen any booth or machine. It's the airlines collecting the fee and also keeping a part of it - same system all over the world btw.
  18. No effect on the airport, but you'll have a problem later finding open bars serving alcohol. Look around and you'll find.
  19. The hotel is mentioned on some german package tour operators homepages + on japanese websites, so my guees is that the hotel has enough guests anyhow.
  20. TIT - new orders from PM: Don Muang Airport will serve domestic flights only : PM Remaining as an international airport, Don Muang airport will be for domestic flights only, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Friday. Don Muang airport will need another three weeks before it is ready for re-opening, Surayud said. He was speaking after chairing a meeting of committee on solving problems of Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports. "Talking about problems at the new airport, there were two parts; firstly those at runways and taxiways and secondly at the passenger buildings. We have to focus at the passenger terminals because their safety come first. Concerning cracks at the runways and taxiways, I believe that they are still covered by insurance," he said. In a separate interview, Transport Minister Thira Haocharoen said the non-connecting domestic flights would use Don Muang Airport while repairs to the taxiways and the runway of the new airport at Suvarnabhumi are carried out. To operate nontransit domestic flights at the old airport would be Thai Airways International, Nok Air and OneTwoGo. The resolution would be forwarded for the Cabinet's approval next week. Theera said Don Muang should then accommodate about 70 flights per day. "International flights would remain at Suvarnabhumi Airport," he told reporters. "(Despite the decision), Don Muang still remains an international airport, as chartered flights overseas are still operated at the airport," Thira said. The ministry was also assigned to study, in a sixmonth period, if more airlines would move to Don Muang. Thira earlier said only the damaged part of one of the runways at Suvarnabhumi would be closed off for repairs for two weeks. That would have minimum impact on air traffic at the new airport as the existing runways are long enough to accommodate take-offs and landings. The minister stressed that the authorities would leave it to each airline to decide whether to move their base to Don Muang or to stay at Suvarnabhumi. Airports of Thailand Plc informed the meeting Thursday that Bangkok's recently decommissioned airport at Don Muang could be reopened from March 25. It is expected that about 20 per cent of flights to Thailand would opt to transfer their operations to Don Muang, which would help alleviate congestion at the new airport while repairs are carried out. 21. IMO it's hardly possible to find lower rates than the FLB at LK Metropole unless you lease for more than 6 or 12 months. I know a guy who stays in a suite with bedroom for 18 k a month but has been there for years (not LK Metropole).
  22. You can also use their homepage HERE - it's the old Sabai Lodge HP but you'll find Sabai Resort there too.
  23. Yes TIT and may very well change many times yet until the cracks are repaired. Still the cobra swamp airport is near it's capacity and need a new terminal for low-price carriers, so maybe DM will be an alternative???
  24. I stayed there 7 years ago and now it looks like it has had an necessary renovation. Very close to NEP and usually a group of "russian" hookers outside the hotel. Guestfriendly at that time and probably today because of the location, but even Nana Hotel now charges joiners fees for girl #2 and up so maybe this hotel too.
  25. The Weekender is now Sabai Resort, with same owner as Sabai Dee, Sabai Lodge and most of Soi 2 too.
