I am thinking of shipping someone down from Surin to Pattaya for a few nights but before I make the offer I am interested in knowing the journey duration, time and cost by bus/coach/minivan. I would hope for a dawn arrival if possible to avoid any changeover clashes? Any ideas anyone? Has anyone any experience of this journey?

I need to get a new pair of spectacles and frames at my next trip in a few weeks time. They usually are much cheaper in Thailand then back at home in UK. There are lots of Opticians in Pattaya and I was just wondering if anyone had any strong recommendations. Was also wondering whether it is better to get an eye test in London and bring the prescription out with me, or get the whole thing done in Thailand. My final question is about those darling looking girls in the white suits that work in Opticians. Has anyone had any luck with them or is this a no no?

I've never tried anything like this before but now thing I need a little bit of extra help. I am back in town next week. I am a bit over weight, diabetic and have high blood pressure. Anyone have the same conditions? What do you take? Where can i get them? How much. I am staying in Soi 1 so any advice would be most welcome.

Folks, I have recently bought a new computer and now am running windows 8. I am not a fan at all. I still have lots of photos to upload from my trip reports but I can not now compress the images. All my old programmes for images will not work with windows 8. I need simplicity. Just a single button to press to resize and then another button to compress. I used to love Microsoft picture mananger, but I cant find a download where it will work with windows 8. Any suggestions lads?? I cant upload more pics until I can find an easy way to compress.

I stayed here in May last year. Have stayed a few times before but stopped coming because of the road noise. It still is no better. Balanced against this is the size of the rooms. I will always consider it as an option but still too pricey.

I am coming back with a mate this year and am looking for two rooms, both of us for a 28 night stay, somewhere central, obviously girl friendly with the following amenities. Bath tub - Not shower Nice swimming pool. Clean, light large Rooms Air con Daily cleaning. Friendly Staff Room safe Balcony I am only looking around the 1,000b mark. Am I asking to much for 1,000b? I have stayed at the Summer Spring two or three times a year since it opened. Nice hotel, large rooms, excellent staff. Pool is quite small but as said above it seldom gets crowded. Up until last year the hotel was good value. In September, despite being a loyal multi returning guest they would not budge from the rack price of 1390 per night even with the loyalty card. This does not include breakfast and the TV, although a flat screen, is of the old wide type and has very few English Channels. I will not be going back. Much cheaper with the same standard elsewhere. Stayed at Amari a couple of years ago. 1,000b guest policy was strictly enforced. I tried coming in the hotel from the gardens at the beach road end of the property and dropped the security guard a couple hundred bhat. Ten minutes after entering my room was a knock on the door. Reception staff wanted me to sign a chit for 1,000b guest fee. If it has changed this would be a good offer. Anyone stayed recently???
