The Area is now showing signs of being old and run down. The price, for what you get, is now not as favouarable as it was. The building works all around the hotel is an irritant. On the other hand, along with a million other hotels in Pattaya, the Areca is girl friendly. I have stayed there many times, but called it a day last year cos you can getter better, cheaper, elsewhere.

Good advice. Thats the trouble with paying up front, you are never sure what you are going to get until you get there with little negotiating chance if they have got your money up front.

Have just visited the Areca Lodges website for next year. Cheapest Room in LOW season 1,300b per night. Now that is crazy. You can get better for less everywhere at that price. Why are they pricing themselves so high? Is it greed? Are they trying to attract a different sort of customer? Perhaps I am a becoming a cheap Charlie but I am not booking a month (or a night) at that rate.

I am now surfing the net again, costing up prices of flights and thinking about a November return trip. I usually stay at Areca but got fed up of that last year. It's too pricey now for what you get and the rooms are starting to get tired. I went to summer springs in April and thought it was great but a little too far out for me. Also the pool was smaller than I wished. What I am looking for now, just to play out a few fantasies, if a room with a BIG bath that can take two or three. Yep, I can assist. Stayed there in october 2007. Not guest friendly at 800b per night joiner fee.

For sure, standard rooms have safe but no tea coffee etc and are not pool facing. There is no joiner fee for TWO additional guests who also CAN have breakfast. In April last year a third joiner was 200b which INCLUDED breakfast.

Whenever I log onto Pattayatalk my user name is always completed and showing in the box, even though the remember me box is unchecked. Although I have to always enter the password I really don't want anyone else at home who uses this computer to see my user name. Any idea as to what I can do so it don't show on the log on screen?

This was the first year in two trips per year for five years that I did not stay at The Areca cos of the spiralling costs. I have to admit that you can get better and cheaper elsewhere. I wont be returning unless they radically drop their prices. 1,300b is far too expensive, and yes, the OP is right, things are getting a bit tatty.

My mate stayed there in April last year and there was no joiner fee then.

Chilli, Was on same flight as you are going on on 23 April. Easily made the 1600hrs Bell bus without a problem. Don't know if I were lucky but sailed through immigration. Cases were already on carousel when I got to baggage reclaim. You should be able to do it with about 10 mins spare. Good luck and enjoy.

No haven't stayed and haven't seen any feedback on trip advisor or any other sites. However the Boards feedbacks speak well. I am booked in for three weeks next month and will report back.
