Greetings folks Am back in Pattaya end of month and wanted a change from my usual hotel. I have seen an advertisement for LK Metropol on ebay, it reads well but would like to hear from any Board members who have stayed there. Is it as good as the famous RG What is their guest policy Any general comments would be welcome - Thanks

My mate has just booked a ticket to BKK with Thai International travelling out 27 April, same date as me, and the price is still 411 pounds, including taxes. Still sounds a great price, same as what I paid when I started this thread. Booked with airlinenetwork.com who worked out cheaper than westeast and expedia.

I am sure that this question has been asked a thousand times but not sure what the current score is. Does anyone know when the new airport is going to open? Why is it taking so long? I just wanna get to PTY as quick as poss.

Hey thanks BERGERAC for your advice re the best seats on Thai. Although I booked via expedia (see first post that started the thread) I was able to have my seats assigned by phoning Thai air offices in London. And I manged to get seat 69K inbound and outbound. Thanks again for the advice. Do they serve dinner/drinks etc from the front of the plane to the rear or from the rear to the front?? Anyone know?? All I need now is membership to the mile high club and I will be laughing all the way to BKK Thanks again folks

Just an update on my post that started this thread. My friend has just booked a seat on the same flight via expedia and paid the same fare of 411.00. He was told that seats are selling fast because of the offer. There were only nine seats left on the outbound flight, so if you are still considering be quick before they have all gone. Good luck lads.

Thanks for the info Cheshire Tom. I have just checked my ticket and it is W class. Not sure what that means or what other restrictions apply, but hey, for four hundred and eleven quid to the LOS I would be prepared to sit in the toilet for all of the flight.

My tickets arrived first post this morning from Expedia. Only 36 hours after I pressed the send button. Very pleased with the service. Have prebooked meals and seats, again free of charge. The inbound flight date is ammendable at a cost of a hundred quid, not that I want to change. No change permitted with the outbound flight. Not sure where to find the 'class' of ticket I am travelling on, as mentioned by other members, hope I dont get 50% mileage, but at 411 pounds who cares.

Hey folks, I have just booked Thai air flights from LHR to BKK with Expedia.com at 318.00 and 93.10 tax for April. Fares are sale price for departures from 23 April. Expedia are cheaper than westeast travel at the moment. I phoned westeast this morning, was hanging on the line for 20mins waiting to be answered and was quoted 30 quid more than expedia. Limited seats folks so book fast. Also no painful credit card or delivery charge fee. The price you see is the price you pay. Total was 411.09. Now who can beat that???

The Imperial Boat House Hotel on Choeng Mong Beach is my favourite hotel in Thailand. I would well recommend paying the supplement and staying at the authentic BOat Suites. Excellent Hotel. Excellent location. Excellent facilities.

Any personal recommendations would be gladly received!

Don't know what the fuss is about. RG is excellent value and hassle free. I booked and confirmed last week for April 2006 and was quoted 1350 per room per night. Bloody marvellous. CAn't wait to get back there.

I am arriving THIS Saturday (23rd April) at BKK from LHR, landing 0605. I Have a private transfer booked to Pattaya. Anyone wanna share with me. Cost will be 600 baht.

Hi there. Stayed there this time last year. A very nice hotel, food good and staff very friendly. A little bit hotile towards guests though. They charge 800baht per night and make them leave their ID at Security gate at entrance. Have heard stories that you can bung one of the guards who patrol a few quid, who will turn a blind eye to guests. I tried this once but still had to pay 800 as reception staff came knocking on the door. The hotel is still worth considering if you can afford. Alternative is the Dusit. Have stayed their a few times as well. VERY nice hotel, but same pol

Reservations versus Walk-in rate?
rascall replied to camus's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hey bigmofo, sorry for delay in response. Haven't visited the hotel review pages for awhile. I have booked The Dusit, The Woodlands and Amari Orchid in Pattaya via the net, usually via www.precisionreservations.com or www.asiarooms.com. ALWAYS has worked out cheaper than UK travel agent, and they don't bill your card until a week before arrival. Also no credit card fee. Have also booked Imperial Boat House (Samui) and Krabi Thai Village (Krabi) via the net. This years trip I have booked at the RG in Patt directly from these pages. Sorry for the delay in my response. PM me if I can -
Anyone wanna share place in private taxi from BKK to Pattaya on Saturday 23rd April. Arrive 0605 on Thai from LHR.

Reservations versus Walk-in rate?
rascall replied to camus's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I have found that booking on line is always cheaper than walk in. Have used precisionreservations.com and asiarooms.com. Both have always worked out safe booking and cheaper. -
Have used www.precisionreservations.com and www.asiarooms.com Both are good, reliable and safe. Precisionreservations generally works out a little cheaper and dont bill you until a few days before your arrival.

Hey folks, I have just bought on line flights to BKK from LHR for June with travelocity.com at £316 + 57.20 taxes with Thai airways. NO CREDIT CARD FEE!!! Only stipulation seemed to be having to take the 1230 flight outbound on my chosen date as opposed to the night flight. Could select either night or midday flight for return flight to BKK. Tickets and purchase was confirmed back within minutes. Seems a good deal. Please dont let anybody break my heart and say they have just purchased ot cheaper. This has worked out cheaper than what I paid with travelmoood for my flight
