If you are planning to go on an organised, tour 3 years ago we went with Good Times Travel, if they are still in business they are well worth getting in touch with. I have seen travel companies in Pattaya doing day trips to Kanchanaburi but leaving around 5am but way too early We spent extra & went with a taxi, the guy I met on the trip & shared the taxi back to Pattaya with went from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi on the train, he said it was very enjoyable but the train had wooden seats, fan and/or open windows for cool air so expect to rough it a bit Good times travel details a

Plenty of bargains there, a few guys from work booked with Tiger $9 flights Hobart to Melbourne for the spring racing carnival. I have been looking at prices with Tiger for a future trip, just over $700 Melbourne Singapore return so fairly cheap. I remeber paying about $1300 back in '94 for a return ticket to Bangkok albeit an open 12 month ticket

I am looking to buy a backpack for my camera, lens & accessories. I have priced a few on the net & E-Bay but most are around 100 Oz Dollars. I have seen a shop in Tukcom that had backpacks for laptops but was wondering if anyone had seen them around the markets for a cheaper price They will need to have padded divisions in the pack Thanks

When the music stops at 5 am you get the people arriving and setting up their tents for the Tuesday & Friday market. Place is ok but location lets it down

High / Low Season in Cambodia
tazzydevil replied to lvreggie's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not sure about PP but Sihanoukville was very quiet when I was there a couple of weeks ago so I would expect the same. Going over on the ferry there was 6 Westerners, 3 of us from OZ, 2 Americans and a Canadian. Coming back to Koh Kong was similar, about 1/3 full so most people had a row of 3 seats to themselves. Very quiet up on the hill and so was the beaches. Monsoon season coming soon so will only get quieter down there. -
2 others and myself are going to Koh Kong early June; mini bus price is 800 baht each so we are considering getting a taxi to the border. I have had 1 quote of 3500 baht for the journey and was wandering if anybody has used a taxi to the border before and what did they pay and which company did they use or was it just a regular taxi I understand that the taxi will be coming back empty and will need to make up money on the journey

Cheap Accomodation 7000baht/14000baht monthly?
tazzydevil replied to ben99's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I had a look at this place while in Pattaya, good rooms, they had a monthly rate but forgot what it was jn mansion A good option I have found is to book your first 2 night at a hotel or guesthouse then of a day walk around you will see "room for rent" signs everywhere. go back of an evening before you decide on where to stay as sometimes that quiet little building next door may turn into a Thai Karaoke building until 4 am -
I am staying across the road from Tonys Gym on Third road. Currently advertising 8000 baht for 12 months membership, recently next to the add in smaller print is the "2 members to join". After seeing their picture add it is money well spent

Thanks Aqua4, Looks like I will be taking someone from Pattaya to keep me entertained if I am going to be in bed at 9pm

I went to Kanchanaburi in Feb this year, well worth a visit. We stayed at the River Kwai Hotel & was more than happy with it. Beds were hard but get the maids to flip them over as they are double sided, soft & hard to suit Westerners & Asians, they will organise tours at the hotel as well Trip report
-
I have not stayed here but it is next to where the Soi Bukhao market is so I would expect it to be noisy early of a morning when setting up the market. There was also a Thai Karaoke place close by
-
I found out as I was checking out of the River Kwai Hotel that they have double sided mattresses, as do many other hotels 1 is a soft to suit westerners & 1 is hard to suit Asian’s Lift up 1 corner & check, the housekeeping staff can flip the mattress over if required.

New Hotel at Tims Beer Bar?
tazzydevil replied to kingfisher's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I was talking with Tim when I was in Pattaya in March & she told me it would be about 3 more months before finished. The hotel is a new one. 60 rooms plus a pool on the roof. It is on the left hand side down the side road north of Tims Bar. -
I use to stay at Intown when in Pattaya up until the last couple of years The rooms are clean but had starting to show their age, Pool is on the roof, its not huge but a good place to relax. It had an open area & a shaded area drinks & restaurant food available at the pool. Staff were always polite & helpful For 550 baht a night its not bad value. For the same price without the pool there are plenty of new places in Soi LK Metro that are also worth a look

Peter met this beautiful girl in Walking Street. They went to Lucifers & Tony’s Disco and at the end of the evening Peter invited his new friend to his hotel, where they quickly got involved in a very passionate and energetic session in bed together. Finally, tired and satisfied, they both lay back in the bed and snuggled up close to each other. After a short while, she began tenderly stroking Peter's penis. Surprised but appreciative, Peter comments, "Surely you can't be ready for more already?" She replies, "No, but every now and then I get a bit nostalgic, and I miss

There is a bit of construction going on behind the Chockdee Inn at the moment so may want to take that into consideration. They were knocking down some of the old buildings & building a new place a bit further up Check with someone who lives in Pattaya to see if it is noisy still in June before committing yourself
-
The enterance is off Soi Bukhao. Security gaurds with a boom gate I had a look at this place a couple of days ago but was unable to look at any of the rooms due to being full. I am off to Cambodia tomorrow (Friday) so when I get back I will try & have a look at the rooms then & maybe get some photos Nice garden setting around the pools & far enough from the main road so it should be quiet. It is part of the Diana group

I am currently staying at Sunview This is my second time staying here & find it good value for money There is a bit of construction going on around this area at the moment but this seems to be happening preety much most places around Pattaya. Can not hear the noise in the rooms though I have had a couple of meals at the restaurant & they are Ok. Plenty of Baht busses going past plus motorcycle taxis in the area but I prefer to walk
