  1. Taxi fare works out approximately 400 or so baht including toll road fees. Time taken without too much traffic approximately 40 minutes as a rough guide. Regards
  2. Thanks for the heads up Brown 1950, will watch with interest. Regards
  3. Ye, the new airport is supposed to open on 12/12/12, sure I read or heard somewhere that the time scale might slip again. The new airport is approximately 5Km to the east of the old airport mainly on reclaimed land, so the premium terminal along with the old airport will be redundant. Not sure if there are any plans for the old airport, ie cargo, private jets etc etc. Looking forward to the new airport when it finally opens, long overdue. Regards
  4. I arrived and left Swampy both in the last two days on route to Doha. The immigration area when departing has been moved up to the mezzanine floor level, where the old sky bar used to be when Swampy first opened. I had access to the premium lane, so did not venture up there but it looked reasonably busy, this was around 18.00 hrs. About a fifteen minute delay due to the Eastern Runway repair was announced by the pilot when departing, which is basically on-time in aviation terms really. No problem at all when arriving. Regards
  5. Tom think that article relates to the re-furbishment of Terminal 1 after the flooding damage was repaired. Surely the airport has been open for commerical aviation since Nok re-located back there on March 1st approximately ? It certainly needs some serious cash spent on it to bring it up to a modern day standard. Between the AOT of Thailand, the TAT and the various government departments that keep realising conflicting statements, would be surprised if anybody knows what is really going on or is actually planned. Here is one article from the nation and them another from the post. htt
  6. Moving on the 1st October this year. Regards
  7. Looks like 1st of October is the date for Thai Air Asia to move to Don Muang. According to a recent tweet by Thai Air Asia CEO Tassapon.
  8. By the time November comes around hillbilly probably won't have that choice, as most likely Air Asia and Nok already operate from Don muang and Thai will still be at Swampy. See other thread about Air Asia moving to Don Muang, might depend which airport is nearer from your departure point as to which suits you. I prefer Air Asia, but watch for add-ons like baggage and seat selection as you progress through their booking system, they might end up more expensive than the others. i.e they are currently charging around 250 baht for a 20 kilo suitcase each way. They do have online check-in
  9. Ye, I did see that article in the post. whilst the Government have ordered the full use of Don Muang again for low cost airlines and point to point carriers, nobody seems to have addressed what happens when the new low cost terminal and third runway is built at Swampy. Some forward thinking required (is this possible with the government). I am same as yourself Tom, much prefer Air Asia, reason being they use A320 aircraft on the Nakhon Phanom route, also normally half the price as well, whilst Nok use slow ATR 72 aircraft and sometimes very old Saab planes, although Nok are being f
  10. Hi, I have not been able to sign into my account since arriving back in Thailand last week. ? I have tried the home computer and also my MacBook, both with various browsers , but no luck. Anybody else having any trouble accessing their team from Thailand ? Anyway, I now have a good excuse if I don't do too well. Regards
  11. Fantastic photos again, what camera and equipment are you using, sorry if this has been asked in some of you're other threads but I must have missed it. You certainly have a good eye for composing a shot, wish I had half the ability. Thanks again.
  12. Just arrived at Swampy tonight 19.00 from Doha on Qatar, bit of a queue in the snake line, took about 15 mins tops to get through immmigration, bag on belt five minutes later. Not all immigration booths manned but still pretty good service. Regards
  13. Great looking resort, hope you had suitable company to make the stay perfect. Looking forward to part two, thanks for posting. Never made it to Japan myself, maybe one one day. Regards
  14. Also pretty good with a camera if my memory serves me correctly. Regards
  15. Ye, it does appear quite a lot in the search results.
  16. Read this thread 'beat the buzzer' from ricosuave, few years old now but great stuff. http://www.pattayata...at +the +buzzer Regards
  17. Still only nine teams entered as of 4/06/12, surely we can do better than that guys ??
  18. Go and watch Nakhon Phanom FC when at home. They're 2nd division and only been going for a couple of years or so. Standard isn't too high, but get some great games and a good laugh most of the times. They had a few African players last season, but they have been poached this season. They probably attract a crowd of 300-400 most home games, quite a few Falangs go to the home games, I have a mate that goes to most of the away games as well (nutter). 20 baht entrance fee and that includes your half-time raffle, normally a pile of sim cards and the star prize being a home shirt, still waiting
  19. Good news for any of you guys that fly business class with Eva. http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/eva-air-invests-100m-to-upgrade-business-class-seats-371697/ Regards
  20. We had the same problem with a cat that used our roof space to have her kittens in. I waited and watched where she was getting access then when she and all the kittens were out I nailed some thin metal sheeting to stop them regaining access, quick and cheap and no effect on temperature in roof space. Regards
  21. Yes, Tom I did see that article, think it was probably where I got my passenger figures from. If they do move this year sometime then they will probably have to move back again when/if the new domestic terminal is finally built at swampy. As you say a real pain and cost for the Airlines. Good point tomcat76, especially this lot in charge at the moment. Edit for this timely link. http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/aviation/290652/suvarnabhumi-expansion-advances Regards
  22. Condo looks mighty fine including the furniture to me. !!!! Regards
  23. The AOT has been trying to get Air Asia to relocate to Don Muang as a measure to relieve congestion at Swampy. They currently fly about 5 million people from Swampy per year, 3 million domestic, two million international. Has Mr Virabongsa Ramangkura, who is in the running for the head job at BOT let the cat out of the bag before an official announcement. If you can't be bothered reading the whole link here is the important part "AirAsia has agreed to move but the airline wants an assurance from the government that it will not reverse its policy later." http://www.nation
  24. Departed Swampy again this morning for Doha, arrived at airport about 0630, although I received a premium lane card and used it only because they dated it. I had a look in the immigration departure hall behind check-in counters Q-R, there was maybe about 15-20 people in the snake queue at most and it seemed to be moving pretty quickly. Not too bad for one of the hectic times on one of supposed busiest days of the holiday break apparently. Looked like all counters manned by immigration staff, so still good news. I never noticed the new automated passport gates that have apparently been
