  1. Crazy Dave's Soi Chayapoon off Soi Buakhao Full English + Tea or Coffee 65 baht, or Fat Bastard + Tea or Coffee., 100 Baht Served 24hrs a day, I doubt whether, anyone could finish his Fat Bastard B/fast. thechairman18
  2. Yes its a dilemma, and there is no real answer to the question. I've seen the guy you are referring to, and some years ago saw a guy same, same in Patpong BKK. My own feelings about beggars, is that I tend to ignore them, which at times is heart wrenching, as if you give to one, you should give to them all. But obviously, you can't do that. On my last trip, I was having a meal in Kiss Food on 2nd rd, and there were 2 German? couples on the next table to me. Along comes a Thai couple, they were looking so sad, he was playing one of those vertical Pan Pipe sort of thing, and she was lookin
  3. When I'm on holiday in Thailand, I use Internet cafes, as I don't have a Laptop. I have a Flash memory stick, which I insert in the USB socket of the PC. I do online banking, as I like to keep up to date with my finance's. My question is, if someone a fitted a keystroke logger onto the PC I'm using, will they be able to read my actions, or will my using the Flash stick, thwart their efforts. thechairman18
  4. I checked out this place last Christmas, and thought it was OK. On my last trip, 22/08/2006,I phoned them from BKK, and booked 7 nights @ 700 baht a night. The place is brand new, immaculate, and they call it a serviced apartment. There are no facilities for making a cup of tea/coffee. There's not even a cup, saucer, plate, knife nor fork. There is a balcony, but no furniture on it, to sit out on. The hotel, and room furniture, is all black, which gives it a very cold atmosphere. It's is also down a dark narrow lane, and I did not feel comfortable going out and coming back late at nigh
  5. Don't / Can't agree. Booked for 3 nights 5th Sept 2006,to see what it was like, and stayed 10 nights. The rooms are OK, clean sheets and towels every day. Rooms have Mini bar, A/c, TV, Big bed, 24 hr Coffee shop, Safe deposit boxes. My room had shower only, with plenty of hot water, and the force of a fire hydrant. Pool across the lane, is so-so, at night there are 'hostesses', no charge for overnight guests. I paid 500 Baht a night, and was very satisfied. I have stayed at the Bay Breeze, but prefer the Honey. thechairman18
  6. I looked the place over, last Christmas , and they seemed very nice. I booked the room for 7 nights, from 28th Aug just gone. However, I checked out after 3 nights, as the place is very cold and inpersonnal. Also, the place is down a very dark and lonely side road, and I did not feel safe, going out, or coming back at say, 2/3 in the morning. The say they are serviced apartment, but there is no provision for cooking ( if thats what you want), not even a kettle to make a cup of Tea, or Coffee. There are places nearer to the night life, for round about the same money. Just my opinion mind
  7. If its the same shop I'm thinking about, its up Soi Diana, to Soi Buakhao, turn left, and its about 100 yds on the right, just past Soi Chayapoon, where Crazy Dave's bar is, and Jeremy's Book shop. thechairman18
  8. I would think if you book any of the hotels mentioned ( the Lek, or Areca Lodge, perhaps ) , for 3 nights, then look around for exactly what you want, where you want. Should be no problem getting what you want, at that time of year. thechairman18
  9. Hi Redwood, Many thanks for the info. If those are the rates as of now, what will the rates be for Dec/Jan ? I'm not a CC, but I will have to pass on this one, Thanks again, thechairman18
  10. Hi All, I was in Pattaya, until the end of April this year. I noticed there was a brand new hotel just about to open on Soi Buakhao. From the outside it looked very nice. It is on the same side of the road, as the Chaba Hut, but between there and Central Pattaya Road. I think it was called Regency, or Pattaya Suites, some name like that. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get to go in, to get any info. I have done a search on the various hotel booking sites, and also a search on Google, but have not come up with anything. Has any BM got, or could get me any info on this place, facilities
  11. Never had to do a visa run as such. Stayed last time for 3 months though, and got a 2 month visa from Thai Consulate at Hull, England. Then went to Snooky in Cambodia, (got a Cambodia visa for 1100 baht, the Official price is $20, but they will not accept $$s), for a few days, and got the Thai 30 day entry stamp, which did me for the rest of my stay. The 2 month Visa cost £25,(1750 baht) plus recorded delivery there and back, of £8,(560 baht), total £33, (2310 baht) so although inconvenient, a border run would have worked out cheaper for me. Just what is included on a visa run, and what ex
  12. I have just returned from Pattaya, and rented a Condo off Soi Buakhao, and what you say is very true. EXCEPT , What little pavement was put down, has got tables and chairs, food carts, cars, and motor bikes on it. If car drivers need to go in a shop, 7/11 or the Chemist, well just park outside, cause a traffic jam, who gives a shit. The cut through off Soi Buakhao to Soi Diana (past Lolita's, Memories, and Thai Archer) could be a place to rival Walking St, except its been taken over and used as a parking lot, with cars for hire parked up, motor bikes for hire, and of course food carts. 13. I went to the shop, they repaired my Shaver and it is now running great. Many thanks for the info. thechairman18
  14. I'm in Pattaya at the moment, and my Philips Rechargable Electric razor has gone wrong on me, the on/off switch seems broke, and it will not hold a charge. Can anyone suggest anywhere in Pattaya,I might get it repaired? thechairman18
  15. I don't know if this is a case of mind over matter. But to avoid a dry throat, which is usually caused by the air con, I wash a T shirt, or underwear, every night, and hang them up as close as possible to the a/c fan outlet. The fan blows the water out of the clothes, and into the air, to provide enough moisture to save me getting a dry and sore throat. Seems to work for me, and dry clothes in the morning. thechairman18

  17. Slightly off topic. In case you lose or get robbed of important items, Passport, Credit Cards, Mobile phone etc. Send an email to yourself, with your details, eg. Family and friends addresses, and phone No's. Bank to contact, passport details, and phone No for replacement. That way you can go into an internet cafe, and print off all your contact details. I hope you never have to use it. thechairman18
  18. I see you are a Brit like me. I find the best way for me, is my Nationwide BS Debit Card. There are no transaction charges, either by them, or the overseas bank, and they give bank rate as opposed to tourist rate, and there are ATM's all over the place. thechairman18
  19. How inconsiderate of the King, to have his Birthday, and close all the bars, the day I'm coming over. I hope they don't lock the mini bar in my hotel room. BTW, I think all Thai girls have caught Bird 'Flu, as they always seem Peckish thechairman18
  20. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way, it was meant in good humor. After all, I like Americans, though I couldn't eat a full one thechairman18
  21. I don't think that is the case, most farangs travel a long way, and its not cheap to get there. Which means, I suspect that most of us plan well ahead, rather than a spur of the moment decision. I'm coming over on 5th Dec for 4 weeks, and it will not put me off. thechairman18
  22. Is it true, that on all US ships there is a Golden Rivet in the Captains cabin? thechairman18
  23. What about the trouble us Brits have with your lingo. Wardrobes are Closets Taps are Forcets Queue's are Lines Petrol is Gas Frying pans are Skillets Biscuits are Cookies and that real hard man GWB, can't bring himself to say he needs to go to the toilet. Why do Americans most of whom are built like brick shit-houses, have to ask for the Rest-room, or the Bathroom. You can neither rest nor bathe, in either of them. Ask for the Lavatory, or Toilet when you have the need. thechairman18
  24. I'm a Brit, and live in the North of the country. I therefore have to fly 2 legs, ie connect in Heathrow, last time Zurich, and this time 4th Dec, via Paris. I have always managed a night flight, landing at BKK 1-3pm. I have also managed to get night flights home, leaving BKK 1130pm- 0100am. This means I get home by 10am in the morning. I don't feel 100%, but not really too bad. However a couple of years ago, when I flew back from the Los Angeles, I was wrecked for a week. thechairman18
