  1. Hi p3 Booked into Q.V. for 8 weeks in room 14 from 4 July this year. If your staying until mid July will see you there and buy you a drink. Cheers Doug.
  2. Hi p3, Just noticed you asked about R.A.L. in Bangkok. Stayed there for the past 3 years, it a bit down Soi 8 on the left hand side but they have a free Tuk-Tuk service with a free phone just of Suk. road. I've always walked back. The hotel is quiet and the staff great, they ask for ID from your TG and when she leaves by herself will ring your room to see if things are OK. I had them call me a in room mas. and was very pleased. Rooms are a bit old but mini-bar, lighting and bath/shower are great. Last year i paid 900B. Cheers Doug.
  3. hi, p3, Stayed at the Q.V. last year, July to Aug., 7weeks. Everything was great. Food excellent. I think it is better in the new rooms than the old. Rooms 12 upwards. Thay cost a bit extra but are worth it, good a/c, fan, inroom safe, dvd etc., I paid 550B a day after moving from the RG after i knackered my knee, the so called big bed parted, 2 small beds pushed together. Cheers Doug.
  4. Hi. Val, I was just making a comment. If the kind people who post fares etc. on the board would post the max. stay, duration off the offer etc. it would save a lot of searching. As for the Thai. offer for 2 tickets for £600, which is great, on checking up for 2 friends found the offer had to be taken up by the end of April and the max. stay was 1 month. Cheers Doug.
  5. Hi, Val. Thanks for your reply. I'm happy about air travel and fares now. Would like to know if anybody has info on sites about hotels etc. and what is the best city to stay, Man. or Ang. city. Thanks for your help Doug. 92 days and counting
  6. Hi ready Thanks for your reply, at 7900 I think I will visit. Cheers Doug.
  7. Hi, Tried all these sites quoted. If you are going for 2 to 3 weeks this is ok. but if you want to got for longer than 3 or 4 weeks no joy . some people (like me) want to go for longer, then the prices change. Or the last date for booking has expired. If you wanted a 2 week holiday from I.O.M. to BKK & Pat. with hotel B & B I could get it for £567.60 including transfers (quoted last week from Thomas C.) But going from MAN I'm having to pay £565 for flight only and £80 from I.O.M. to MAN. Everybody has different needs and prices quoted on the board should include the max. stay all
  8. Hi, Cigs. unless you only smoke one kind, cheaper to buy in Pattaya, 30B to 40B per 20, if you use loose tobacco there are places where you can get it dirt cheap. If you are travelling by Emirates, buy in Dub. where most brands are cheaper. I got 50 King Edward Imperial cigars, 1Litre Glen. and 200 cigs. for £20.67, 1 L. Glen. in MAN. was over £20. Spirits, Again cheaper in Patt. unless you drink malt whisky. I drink Glenmorangie, I was unable to get a malt in LOS, but I found the cheapest in Dub. In Patt. you can get 0.7L Barc. Vod. Gin rum around 350B to 400B, local Whiskey 170B Footba
  9. Hi, Got a rolex copy from a street seller in Pataya,he had just sold one to a German tourist for 2000Bath,the tourist was happy becourse the dealer adjusted the strap, after bartering for ten mins. got the same type of watch for 400Bath, this was a automatic, not a battery one. This was last Aug. and it is still going now but looses about a minute a week. You get what you pay for. If you go up North Pattaya Road and just before Sukhumvit Road, on the right I think the road number is 18, there is a large store, called Lukdod Stores that sells all this stuff that the tourists want at a good
  10. Hi, Coming to Pattaya for 8 weeks in July. Was wanting to take a trip somewhere for a week. Was thinking of going to Cam. and got all the info on that, but seeing some posts i fancy a trip to the Philipines. I've tried a few sites but get conflicting data. If anybody can give me data, web sites or air fares, airlines etc. i would be grateful. Cheers Doug 3 months
  11. neiler, Got two pair off the foldaway reading glasses on Beach Road corner of Soi 13/3 for 300Baht. Lighters at the same stall they would not go below 200B Same lighter in a stall in walking street 100B. So it pays to shop around. Doug.

In room massage was great, Supplied by desk when i checked in after a long flight, for a old bugger like me, and costs were O.K. and lady 8 out off 10. A/C and T.V was O.K. Safe box at desk but didn't use so cannot tell if it's open 24Hrs For the price of 880Baht i dont think you can complain. Also for a banged up crock like me I decided to walk rather take the transport provided by the hotel and it took me less than five mi

  15. Hi jouls, I fly out every year, from Man., in the begining of july (1st to 7th) for 8 weeks, The cheapest i could get this year was Aeroflot for just under £500. Declined this and booked Emirates £554. I think they put the prices up because of summer hols. and schools closed [smiley=banghead.gif]. But looking forward to next year when i retire and hope to spend 6 months in Thailand. Cheers Doug.
  16. Hi mb, My mates flew to BKK on Turk Air, last year, out Jan back Feb. Said they would never fly with this airline ever again. Service, food and everything else was aweful. Also promblems in stopover. They went out to BKK 2 weeks ago back middle Feb., even though Turk. A. was the cheapest fare they could get for their dates they opted to pay a extra £60 to fly by a decent airline. Cheers Doug.

  19. Hi, Am staying in Bangkok for 2 nights and have made a choice of 2 hotels, both near Soi 5. Grand Inn Hotel Fortuna Both have vacs, for my time of stay, but I can't find many reviews. Has anybody ever stayed at any of these 2 hotels, and couldyou let me know your views on them. Cheers Doug and thanks for any replies [smiley=cheers.gif]
  20. Hi, M_H Try the Queen Victoria Inn Soi 6. In the new section everything including A.C. Fan D.V.D. etc. all for about 550B per day for a month. Stayed there for the passed 2 years and found it great. Booked for 8 weeks next summer. They only have about 20 rooms so booking is recomended. Doug.
  21. Hi, As to the RG i think it is highly overated. The accomadation is great. The beds look big but are two beds put together I injured my knee and was buggered for 7 days from useful sex . I do not go on holiday to cook, kitchen in room, and when i ordered a breakfeast in the room 10% extra the meal was bloody awlful. Dumped on the table no salt pepper sauce etc. and no knifes forks etc. we were supposed to use our own and clean them after, even my TG was disappoined with her meal. I moved to a hotel which cost less than 600B and was a lot better.
  22. Stayed at Nana this August. Stayed for four days and was asked to pay the full rate on checking in. Doug.
  23. M_H I agree with you on all points. But i think if anyone is coming to Thailand for the first time it is worth spending a day in Bangkok as it is a eye opener and should not be missed. Myself i am not all that keen on BKK but it still draws me there for the first day of my 8 week visit every year to Thailand IMHO. But most of all the object of your visit is to enjoy yourself but take care. Cheers Doug.
  24. Thanks, My room on the 2nd floor was O.K. One huge double bed and 1 single, shower and everything else was OK. street noise no bother, Took 2 TG back from NP only used one bed but the hotel would not give me a discount for this. [smiley=3some.gif] Doug.
