  1. Hi. I stayed at Q.V. July and August this year. They have taken out the safes in the rooms, which you had to have a key for, and you have to use the ones behind the bar. Have stayed at the Q.V. for the past three years and have booked for 6 months next year and would recomend it. Cheers Doug.
  2. Hi Stick Flew with them in July this year Bangkok to Manilla return. On the outward trip food was excellent T.V etc. in back of seat in front of you and service great. On the return trip the same except for the food ugh. I did not like some of the food in Manilla so I think any of the airlines that use Man will get the same food but it's only a 3Hr trip to BKK Cheers Doug.

  4. Hi, Got to agreed with you Greg. the Q.V. is exellent good staff, rooms, food and location The L. Nelson is based an the same style rooms as the Q.V. good size rooms and BIG beds, The currency exchange on Soi 6, requires your passport for your first transaction and then all you have to do is bring the receipt you got from this for any other trans.. I've stayed there for the passed 3 years for 6 to 8 week at a time and have no complaints, i've booked 6 months next year and was quoted 13,500B per month for a superior room. Considering what a flat would have cost and all the extras you have to p
  5. Hi, Agree with you moby69 two of my mates travelled with A.F. Jan. this year, apart from a 24Hr delay they say the trip was awful. Jan. 5 next year they are travelling from Man. by EVA at £458. for 6 weeks in LOS.. They have to change at Heathrow then EVA direct to BKK. This price included all taxes, £100 cheaper than their trip this year. Cheers Doug.
  6. Hi, Jacko, The last 3 years I have had to fly out of Man.(U.K.) on my trips to LOS because Manx Airlines sold out to B.A. and do not fly to LHR any more. In seven years flying from LHR before this I wish I was back at LHR. IMO. Cheers Doug.
  7. Hi, Depends on what you want to buy? I've found that cigs, booze cameras etc. are cheaper to buy in Thailand. Cheers Doug.
  8. Hi Bronto, Cyber was right. Last trip I got a 60 day visa 2 months before I left for LOS and all was O.K. The only problem I had was that I decided to go to the Phi. half way through my stay. on my return to LOS my visa could not be used and they give me a 30 day visa. I have since found out that this visa is only valid for one entry into LOS. If you intend the travel outside LOS during you trip you can get a multiple entry visa I don't know the price of this but will try to find out for you. If you have to send your passport by post to the embassy I would send it in plenty of time in case
  9. Hi, Tried to put in a review on the hotels i stayed in this year. When asked for user name & password it woud not accept mine. Tried a few times without any luck. Cheers Doug.
  10. Hi, Saigon, Sorry about the way i worded my post, I should have said that the whole hotel should be completed by Dec. . My apologies, the main building work was completed last month and the ground floor opened, that's the bar, so I think the three bedroom floors should be opened floor by floor. By the way i noticed there was a hell of a lot more bars on Soi 6.. Also at the back of the Q.V. Soi 6/1 the places opposite have all been flattened, I don't know what's going to be built there. On the other side Soi 6 behind the British Bulldog, has all been built up. They have a bank, ATM, no mor
  11. Hi , Stayed for 50 days at the Q.V., July/August as i do every year. On talking to Bert he said L.N. was hoping to open its bar by the end of Aug. Bert said he had nothing to do with the L.N. that it was run by three guys one of them being the owner of the Q.V. (can't remember his name) but a very nice guy. There will be about 10 rooms, and they are hoping to open these by December. The rooms can be booked through the Q.V. until the L.N. is completed. The L.N. is not next door to the Q.V. but two doors down from the King Kong bar and on the same side. Rate for staying in the Q.V. this ye

  15. Hi, Don't know what you mean by a good cigar. When in Pattaya I smoke King Edward Imperial which are about £13, for 5, in the U.K. and 220B in Pattaya, and the exchange rate last week for U.K. stirling T.C.s was 75.54B. Cheers Doug. PS. Just got back from Pattaya this week, spent 8 weeks in Patt. and went to the Phillipines for 1 week, when i get my head in order will make a trip report.
  16. Hi BP, Travelled by Austrian airlines from Man last year. This was the worst trip i ever had. Will not fly with them again. Cheers Doug. 2.5 days to go "traveling by Emirates this year £460 from Man."

  18. hi, Arriving BKK 3 July 04 staying at the Grand Inn just up from Nana for one night. Traveling to Pat. 4 July anytime after midday, if anyone wants to share taxi let me know. Cheers Doug.
  19. Hi. patk100 It depends on when you are traveling and for how long. I've found that T.A. have prices that are very higher than other airlines. If a date and time was included in messages it would help people to give you a better option. I've travelled from Man. to BKK. over the past ten years and T.A. (apart from Air France) has been my bad experance. Cheers Doug. 37 days and counting
  20. Hi, Just recieved a e-mail from Thomas Cook U.K. about low fares in May and June 2004. Flight from LHR to BKK, I pumped in for 3weeks end of May. I'm not travelling just want to check availability. Gulf air ------ 352.20GBP You can go via Bahrain, 4Hr stop over, leaving LHR 1000Hrs or via Muscat 2Hrs 20mins stopover, leaving LHR 1100Hrs. Both flight get in BKK mid morning. British Airways------ 394.40GBP This is a non stop flight leaving LHR 2000Hrs arriving in BKK mid afternoon. I went through the booking process and both flights were available. These prices included al
  21. Hi, Thanks a lot for your help, I informed my friends off the baggage problems. The time off arrivel at LHR and departure to MAN is over one and a half hours so they might be lucky as they are booked through to MAN and will not have to wait to pick up there baggage at LHR. Cheers Doug.
  22. Hi. pbear, Used to frequent a bar just outside SB. Talked to a lot of people who stayed there. The main comment was this was a tourist hotel for J and K visitors. The hotel was nice but joiner fees had to be paid and the staff were not all that friendly ifyou were a single bloke. IMO if you are coming to Pat. to P4P this is not the best. Gee. was right to suggest the Sunshine Hotel, if you want to stay in this area, but choose the new wing. Cheers Doug. 10 weeks and counting
  23. Hi, Just booked a couple of tickets with EVA for Jan. 2005, for 42days, for my mates. Price was £457 + taxes. this is Man. Heathrow, BKK. I checked the price from Heathrow and it was £437 + taxes, which leaving from the I.O.M. is to much hassle. The plane is a 74E and leaves Heathrow at 2130Hrs and arrives in BKK at 1556Hrs. The booking was made on "Airline Network" Cheers Doug.
  24. Hi emil, Agree with you entirely. Spot on and cheap to get there. Cheers Doug.
  25. Hi. kikc69, It may be low season in Pattaya but it's high season for the airlines, school holidays etc. I get out to Patt. July and Aug. Work in a school and this is the only time I can get 8 weeks off, tend to book around Christmas time. From Man. this year with Emirates the price was £528. Cheers Doug. 10 weeks and counting
