Will make a nice night shelter for the homely bums that hang about that area. Give it a year to 18 months before the effects of sun, salt and water see the whole thing falling apart.

Is mourning for Supreme Patriarch affecting Pattaya?
ingo67 replied to ktappinen's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Funny how the "police owned" Click Club, Soi 21 between Soi Buakhao and 2nd Road was pumping out heavy dance music until 11AM this morning. -
+ 1 for Tikka Centre. If you want a decent curry then this is a good place to try; you might like it, you might not but its relatively good value so worth a trip one night. As stated, don't expect a fancy nancy restaurant. Also quite popoular with Indian/Arab visitors if that is a recommendation.

NeeRoy's closed around the turn of the year so by June it had been closed for 5 or 6 months. Roy had been very ill previously, speculating he may have returned to the UK for recovery. Hope it will open again but fear it won't.

Reminder about this bloke. Don't trust.
ingo67 replied to yobbo71's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The bloke must be a real scumbag - I lent someone a several hundred Baht on my first trip years ago, at least it wasn't much money, have wised up since. There is another scammer who works around Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana area; has approached me 3 times in a year. He's probably in his 50's, grey short hair and a beard the last time. Accent, not sure. His opening is always, "Excuse, me, do you speak English", very original, just tell him to Fxxx off now. Be aware. -
Sony 40" LED I bought from Numchai last month is brilliant, only 17,990bht.

Brought cheese over to Thailand several times; used a small zipped cooler bag that you normally use to take beers to sports events. 2 or 3 packs of cheese and an ice pack, stored in the middle of the suitcase. Never had any problems.

Went with Bangkok Airways in March this year, 2190bht one way booked only a few days before departure. Excellent airline.

Spankys Pattaya Now Packed With Girls
ingo67 replied to scott66's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Certainly worth a visit, some decent looking girls in a nicely appointed bar. The manager even acknowledges you and thanks you for visiting, don't get that very often. -
Sapphire Lodge - free ST BF's all March
ingo67 replied to farangkwaiyai's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Gabor I think you are spot on. At all the competitors in that area, the girls mostly ask 1000bht, however, when Sapphire was going through its opening struggles a while back, some of the girls were asking silly money for ST. hopefully they have all moved on. Shame the place was so overhyped initially, it could be a good venue if they opened at the same time as the other daytime venues. -
just stayed a couple of nights at the newly opened TUNE hiotel in Angeles, Philippines. Got a bargain promo price of 429ps or 310bht, including 12hrs A/C.For that price and being a short stay it was just about acceptable, however, no promo and all the addons make it very expense for a shoebox. Also, it had only been open 2 weeks, and they had only finished 4 out of 10 floors, so biulding work started at 7.30am. Out of our party of 3, I had to move room after one night as the shower only produced scolding hot water and a mate had lights that would not switch off at all, even with the key card removed. Numerous other guests were at reception in the morning with complaints. For a 1 night stay, get a promo and its ok, but at least wait until the place is finish (I don't expect Thai builders to be any better than their Philippine equivalents).

Good place to stay, rooms nice, good location, no joiner fees. As previously mentioned, lady owner and some of the staff need rectify their bad attitudes. Plus why have an aircon bar and have a door that doesn't shut properly, leaving a 3 inch gap for all the hot air to come in. Rant over.

Thought it had gone, now retuned the TV. Thanks

Looks like Universal has disappeared, one of only 4 channels I watch. Hopefully it will reappear when they finish the job. Mostly I get by with torrents and BBC iplayer because most of the channels are rubbish.

Bangkok Airport Fast Track Immigration Service
ingo67 replied to Greg_B's topic in Airline Discussion
If more travellers accept this blatant piece of money making by Thai Immigration, then the standard of service for the rest of us (ie queues will get longer) will get worse. Thanks. -
I have booked for Feb 2012 - with 15kg luggage the price was equivalent to 3300bht, about £70 or $112 return flight.

I've used Air Asia to go to Chiang Mai, KL-Malaysia and Phnom Pehn. No better, no worse than any other shorthaul carrier I have used in Europe.

how much can you withdraw from ATM
ingo67 replied to singhapleez's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Have you ACTUALLY tried it or just read their statement ? Yes its a Travelex tel number, but you only get charged for delivery. Have used this number in August 2010 and on the 28th May 2011 - both times ZERO charges, just £3.50 for delivery. Can only order max of £2,500 and they limit you to one order every 60 days. Don't believe me, your loss. -
As others have mentioned - cebu pacific is the place to get cheap flights. Get yourself on their email distribution list so you can catch their big sales. Went last Feb for 3200bht return BKK to Clark.

how much can you withdraw from ATM
ingo67 replied to singhapleez's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I have given up using ATMs, too expensive, only use as a last resort. If you are a Nationwide customer, call 0845 3010417, Travelex, order Travellers Cheques for no commission and just £3.50 delivery. Maximum order amount £2500. Get £100 denominations as you pay @32bht to change each cheque. I my opinion, this is the most efficient way to change £ into Bht. Taking £ cash you will get a slightly better rate, but you run the risk of it being stolen. -
OP - why don't you install an Aircon unit and make it alot more attractive. Charge a bit more each month and you would get your money back in a year or so. Even alot of girls rooms have aircon, can't survive without it, especially this time of year.

MM I can read and I know which flags are associated with each country. My reply was aimed at the Op and Yanks in general. The excessive tipping culture in Pattaya and other tourist areas in Thailand is largely a result of Yanks automatically doing what they do back home. Now decades (since the sixties, with the US military) on, we are all under pressure to tip regardless of level of service. Thais don't tip to such a great degree, and in non-tourist areas tipping is not expected.
-
You Yanks are unbelievable. Its their job to fuel up, don't tip. May be if they clean your windscreen/put air in tyres tip a little - 5/10bht.

What do you think CBS or Combi is short for - Combined means they both brakes come on which ever lever you pull, however, pulling the front lever will activate the front more (2 pistons working on the disc) and the rear only a little (1 piston working), and visa versa when you pull the rear. It is designed to be quite subtle, certainly subtle enough for you NOT to notice !! This was a feature on my old Honda VFR800fi from 1998, a bike I had for 9 years, so I think I know a thing or two about it (so does everyone else apart from you). BTW - do you still think the world is flat, despite all the evidence to the contrary ?
