Best known for a brilliant performance in downfall as Hitler (good movie, worth a watch) and also the subject of countless parodies. Shame he's largely remembered for this scene as he was a very versatile and accomplished actor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Ganz Here is the famous scene, in the original dialogue.

Yep, really enjoyed that series, Mrs Butch got me interested in it so I picked it up after Ep02, great TV and agree, shame it's over.

Saw this video on the other side of the Russians living in town, found it interesting. I can still recall signs in russian back in the mid 90's though.

Beer bar complexes, names and locations.
Butch replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
OK I'll reply to my own thread lol, This is the location of Drinking Street up near and beyond the old Big C (now central Marina) This complex according to recent reports is now pretty much full of Arabs. https://www.google.com/maps/place/ดาทิเซียโน/@12.9487699,100.889102,247a,35y,27.2h/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x3102bdfe3f505fff:0xaa6b34df4addd1c9!8m2!3d12.948838!4d100.8889311 Soi New Plaza (not sure if it is also called Lucky Star Plaza, anyone know?) is a cut through between Bukhao and Second Road. It berings you out almost opposite Soi 7/8 and is great for cheap beers. -
I agree Samsonite, years ago I flew a KLM 747 into Cape Town, it was relatively spacious and comfortable , the equivalent SA Airlines 747 plane was cramped, uncomfortable and truly horrific. The old EVA 747 were Combi's iirc, they were also pretty good in econ and Elite was awesome, at the time only £150 more on top for a return trip , so it was a no brainer for 12 hours.

As we all know, Pattaya can be slightly daunting for the first timer, or even people who have been numerous times before. I'm not exactly sure where all the beer bar complexes are these days, and my Google map ability is feeble. In the GoGo and bar review section we have maps of GC's GGB's and Darkside Bar locations, so wouldn't it make sense to have one for beer bar complexes as well?. as a suggestion, how about google links to: Drinking Street Lucky Star Plaza Made in Thailand Frog Complex Tree Town Rohmpo Beer bar complex (if it still exists) Pook Pla

ahh....sorry you didn't like Russian Doll, not for everyone and yes, the dialogue can be a but much. I noticed Black Earth , it came up as a suggestion, I'll definitely check it out. I'm just watching The Punisher S01, 2 more eps to go!. On another subject, I recently watched "Tin Star" S02 on Sky Atlantic, personally it was very disappointing and not a patch on the first season. A disjointed storyline, no backstory like we had in the first season, and the cinematography which enhanced S01 greatly was seriously lacking. Characters in the plot were given little or no development and i

good question, as Jacko said maybe offering better comfort for less. I agree, flying is cheap at the moment, possibly in part due to the cheap price of oil. Shockingly enough I just looked at a ticket and saw how much is made up in taxes here in the UK. The base fare itself is , as you say, cheap. I think an improvement in comfort would be nice. no one wants to be in Econ for a long flight, and econ seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Premier econ is now a gateway drug into business, but I think that we might see more PE classes as travellers are tempted by the price point and enhanc

The Market, Victory, MBK and Lumpini........PHOTO HEAVY!
Butch replied to firth1974's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Bloody excellent, now going to go through them the second and probably time. You've got an eye for pics Firth, I'm liking the ones of people going about their daily business, like the girl praying or the copper walking with serious intention. On the 3rd from last pic, it's interesting to notice the water waste pipe connecting the shacks by the railway track, they do exactly the same in the RP. -
Brilliant pics, very enjoyable and thanks for posting Firth. I like the female chippie with earphones!. I see there is a lot of work ongoing, are they repairing or adding to the existing structure?.
-
Ahh, bollocks lol. Welcome to the board, and thanks for the info mate. Are they all now 3-4-3 in Econ did you notice?.

Odd you mention that Gus, I looked at the seat layout in Prem econ today and all the bulkhead seats are greyed out, everything else available. I certainly hope that's not the case that they are charging. I've been tracking BR067/ 068 this week on FR24, they seem to have got their act together on timings, it's been early in and out of LHR every day, which is kind of unusual for EVA!.

Right, another Netflix series, Russian Doll Here's the IMDB link https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7520794/ Although the first episode is slightly hard going, it is worth sticking with. There are some funny one liners and good comedy in it, along with allowing us to empathise with another character introduced mid way who develops quite quickly. At first I thought it was a bit too "PC liberal trendy" due to everyone being in mixed race relationships, gay or lesbian but it's not the case, that was just my skewed take on it because it has no relevence to the overall story line. The

That is bloody painful. we have some news re Tusk and his comments about NI, getting him in hot water but uniting the govt in a way, perversely. Hope it might have a positive influence but I doubt it...

Pictures from around Pattaya

Like these day to day threads, thanks for posting. -
I watched this flight on FR24 and saw it was cancelled, it eventually went out as EVA068D 2 days later at 16:00. Last year my flight with EVA was cancelled due to a bird strike, so no compo. we were put up in a shithole of a hotel and given meal vouchers, but they were for buffet only (which was shit). I was first in the queue at LHR but had not checked my case, so was at the EVA desk when I overhard 2 staff saying they would bump pax onto the Thai flight that night, so when the desk opened I asked to be bumped only to be told that there were no seats avaialable, so I called the bloke a l

I've been reading up on the new 777x and it seems to be getting closer to the actual test flight stage, (Q2 2019) with deliveries expected in 2020 (as I understand it). From first impressions it appears to be quite revolutionary in a number of areas, not least the Engine design and development, along with folding wingtips and pax capacity of over 400. Some are saying this could kill off the A380. I'm not so sure if that is a fair or relevant comparison, perhaps putting it up against the A350 might be better, here's an interesting comparison: https://simpleflying.com/777x-vs-a350/

After having spent 2 days in London travelling around, I concur, it is filthy. After the first day of being outside from 09:00 until about 22:00, we headed back to the hotel for a good shower, I wiped my face with a wet wipe and it turned grey where I'd wiped it. My daughter washed her hair and called me into the shower, a few brown rings of dirt in the foam were easily visible, gives and idea of just how much shit we breathe in on a daily basis. I was really glad to get home, we live rurally and the air is clean, not far from the coast either. I don't expect Manila to be rating very high

cleared that up for me then lol.

Call me a cunt, but are we on about "totem pole" Indians or "£4 for a loaf of bread" Indians?.

That's not unusual in the field of Airline customer service, you've only got to look at that utter shower of shit which is BA, (actually the UK side is worst of all, the HK staff bend over backwards to help pax) . EVA weren't much better last year when they cancelled their flight out of LHR either, leaving pretty much everyone in the dark. They're supposedly 2 non budget airlines, who are keen to point out to everyone how great they are. By far the best customer service out there is Cathay Pacific, never had an issue using them, but the flights do come at a bit of a premium compared to ot

I wrote a long and comrehensive reply to a thread, only to be timed out by the system, hence it is now lost. What is the time out and how can I change it?.

Very probably the case, I've tried myself and keep getting "no flights available" , plus trying to book for May for example gives a message "No flights avaialable in May" A friend recently flew Thompson (TUI) direct to Vietnam, he said it was bloody horrific and not a patch on EVA, Thai or indeed any of the ME Airlines. I have flown (read: suffered) a 4 hour Thompson flight to Turkey, which was made much more enjoyable by a really badly behaved 3 year old we had with us, and a very stroppy Mrs as a direct result. I may be wrong but I think they also do a weak attempt at premium econo

I agree, it is sad and it is also a poor reflection on farangs in general. I used to call them "lost souls", the balloon chasing budget watching tightwad expat who never leaves a tip and makes a pig of hmself at any free buffet, that was even a few years ago when it was over 50 baht to the sterling. Then again, it's probably no measure of wealth. I have an expat mate who is as tight as a ducks arse, yet he is pulling in £2.5k a month net and sits on half a million quids worth of property assets, yet he still drinks draft and his wardrobe consists of singha singlets and cargo shorts, he rents a

Great review Evil, the price point seems to be very reasonable indeed. Thanks for posting it up, I'll give this place a look sometime in the future.
