Interesting article, thanks. The author is indeed correct when he says that continuous handouts from the Govt is a disincentive.

Fair enough, although it seems a very similar kind of outfit and approach to how the bars are laid out and are advertised, however, if they're not part of NW then I'll happily spend my baht there.
-
Thanks for the informative reply to my question. I'll ask again, are these bars part of the Nightwish Group? Yes or No. Bit of research says no, a bit of digging, or peeling back the layers of the onion suggests possibly otherwise.

Lol the local dump I'd imagine. Seriously though, free food always drags the punters in, just look at how Jade House had about 300 Honda Waves parked outside every BBQ day lol. Are these two bars part of NW?. If they aren't then I'll pop in next time, if they are then I'll walk on right past.

I heard a yarn that a lot of these currency converter booths deliberately set the rate slightly lower towards close of business on Friday as the rates remain static over the weekend, thus reaping any benefits until opening time friday morning. Any truth in that?. Good too see Sterling has lifted ever so slightly, maybe a slight lift on the potential good news coming out of Europe. Bank hloiday in the UK on monday so probably not much to see until Tuesday morning.

I know Boris comes across like a bumbling twat, but he is actually a very intelligent and articulate man. I actually think his brother is brighter than he is, but lacks the ambition. He's played Macron and Merkel well, I thinkperhaps they both underestimated him. Whatever happens on the 3rd, Corbyn in charge of the UK would make no deal fallout look like a stroke of financial genius, we're talking about a bloke who put Diane Abbott in as shadow HS, and that sneaky turd Mcdonnell is 10x worse than blair. Anyway, to keep on topic, Sterlnig seems to have settled into the 36.8-37.3

Judging by his taste in shirts, I'd say it was Jacko I don't mind the girls dancing there, in fact it's great to see their firm tits staying in place but wanting to burst out, but why the hell do they have to turn the music up so bloody loud I'll never know. -
I've just got in from work and watched SKY news, some positive vibes coming from Merkel regarding Brexit and a way forward, with any luck this might push Sterling up a tad.

The Emirates service from Stansted is proving very popular, £462 from Stansted to BKK and the timings aren't too shoddy either. With the new Cathay pacific attitude towards customers regarding privacy etc, we might make the change back to Emirates for any Manila trip, s Stansted is about 40 min away, whereas LHR and LGW over 2 hours.

For a retiree, is Jomtien a better option for budgets? Do you get more value with regards to accomodation and general everyday expenses?. If I ever were to retire in Pattaya, Jomtien (or slightly out of town from jomtien but in that direction) would be my first choice, avoiding the localised pollution, traffic and noise. Transport into town (Pattaya) wouldn't be too difficult, there's always Grab or Uber, failing that I'd drive myself (unless going on the piss, I'd just hire a cheap room for the night). I'd prefer the Jomtien area, better coastline, beach, easier to walk around,

Is this the "dead cat bounce" of the Sterling Jacko spoke of?. 37.34 this orning on the website.

I tend to switch between Nams and PT Taxis, they're as good as each other and no complaints. PT Taxis will often stop to refill LPG just outside town though, but it only takes 5 mins.

Brown150 does know his onions, I remember him selling me 20k Skywards miles for £250 many years ago ?...I think he's in the industry isn't he?. Yep I saw that Thai are facing massive losses, possibly the largest yet, and it is due to a decline in tourist numbers, and the report says its ageing fleet, I think they've just spunked a load of cash on some new tackle. I have just run a check on prices for anyone thnking of going in October, Emirates are £455, Qatar £535 Etihad £545 Thai £565. Still competitive.

36.87 according to the tt fb page. And so it continues.

What is your Exchange rate "tipping point"?.

I think we'll see a dead cat if the Thais cut interest rates again, but the real weakness is the uncertainty in the UK at the moment, not helped by that cunt Mark Carney predicting doom and gloom and reducing confidence even further, the fucking wanker. I'm hedging 35.8 as the lowest we will see, from there we will hopefully be either mid way to a deal, decided upon our future or BJ going head on with the EU with a Thatcheresque determination which will faze them. I truly think it's a case of "Who blinks first", and BJ has superglued his eyelids open. However, on the plus side, I can -
Ouch. I’ve got a mate there at the moment with his Mrs and daughter, he said Bangkok is ridiculous with current rates and prices, the pound has weakened 1 baht in a week!. anyone want to bet a virtual san mig light on how low it’ll be at the end of August ? I would offer to pay for a real one, but at this rate I think I’d struggle to afford it. I’ll hedge 35.8 by the end of the month.

Hi KM Did you need to give a deposit for the condo prior to booking, or pay the entire stay in advance?. Cheers Butch

I think I'm right in saying that their 777-300's are still 3-3-3 in econ?. I'e read that the legroom is better on the 380 in comparison (then again I'm a short arse so it doesn't effect me too much).

Certain areas were busy last trip (May), mostly on the Bukhao end. I really can't see how the bars will make any money in that area. The busiest bars were the open air ones serving cocktails from a van iirc.

Yeah pretty much, and that's a good point. There are things to do, but it means travelling a bit. Very often if you are not too much of a butterfly, it's possible to get a decent girl and visit different parts of the RP with her as a guide. The GFE is much better than LOS. For example, my routine (if I were a monger out there) would be pretty similar to Pattaya I imagine, lounge by the pool with a book and a beer in the late morning / early afternoon, then walk around the town for a bit and then have a coffee, then onto a few bars and some dinner, followed by spending the evening wanderin -

I have had, over the last month at least 5 different people ask me about p4p in the Philippines. I also know of 2 that have cancelled future trips to Pattaya purely on the strength of the current situation. Personally, as my tipping point has indeed been breached and exceeded, my May 2020 trip is off the books completely, instead I will be staying in the RP for 2 months and doing another renovation project. The Sterling hit the lowest I can recall against the php this week, Kabayan remittance were at 60php to the £, it has now increased to 62 which, if nothing else is a blessing but fucka -
Cebu Air are an absolute shower of shit. They run a daily from NIAIA to BKK which leaves early in the morning, its only saving grace. They are struggling however, and it's not surprising.

I think Thai are following suit with eVA on the pricing for seat selection. EVA introduced it this year sometime, so it's basically a revenue generator which has cost them nothing, apart from a few web pages, to introduce. I've found their pricing (on the LHR-BKK route) to be slightly more thanthe EVA equivalent. Even BA are coming in cheaper for later this year and next year in their Econ (with baggage 1x 23kg) seat class, less if you're taking hand carry. I checked yesterday, it was £604 for October. Despite bA being an utter shambles of an Airline, for a direct flight that seems to be
