Here's another Thai advert, notice the guy has a bottle of fish sauce next to his rice, one of the simple meals poor people eat.

Good report Cbrib, PA have certainly upped their game in recent times. They offer an LHR-MNL direct option here in the UK, which is a bit of a ball breaker at 14+ hours but ideal if you want to do it in one hit. We have used them recently and I also found their service pretty good, they have had a great deal of investment which is obviously now coming through and filtering down to the customer.

Might be best to ask the Manager , he's often in there during the day. PBG still has them as far as I know, which is a bloody long trek from Retox and probably not much help.

Safe flight Gus, let us know how you get on.

Lol you’re brighter than I am!. To be honest it’s not to everyone’s taste, but I am enjoying the series and it is “popcorn tv” for me. Sorry you don’t like it chap.

NP Residence Hotel in New Plaza
Butch replied to eyes4thais's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
welcome to the forum, as you have just joined and the first thign you do is put up a negative review of a place which is a4 year old post anyway, some people might doubt your reasons for doing so. When you attempted to take the womans photo, why didn't you stand a distance away?. Also, if she kept your phone then that is theft, call the police and get it back. If the security staff witnessed the girl damaging the door, why didn't they stop her? why didn't you film it and why didn't you report the theft and damage to the Police?. Tell her to call immigration, get them down there and call her bluff, then they'll check if she had followed the relevant rules introduced regarding registering foreigners. To be honest I know people do have issues with hotel staff, but 99% of the time it is down to misunderstanding or the guest being drunk and abusive, or some other problem. -
You only have to look at the amount of bias they put on the "question time" panel and cherry picked questions from the "audience" to see how impartial and fair the BBC, or indeed anyone connected to them are. given that the BBC have a 25% stake in Curve, you can draw your own conclusions. Like anything, sensationalism and titillating subjects will always attract viewers. Be comforted in the fact that anything said in an "interview" will be edited to make it more salacious or biased towards their own agenda, along with splicing and editing footage to paint you in the worst possible light. Anyone remember the "Big trouble in Thailand" series? (it's on youtube). As we all know Pattaya, just have a look at that (and the special guest apperance by Moulee) to see what kind of editing goes on. Anyone painting Howard Miller and the volunteer police (not the regular Police who are brilliant, honest, seadfast and true) in a good light really needs to have their head looked at.

bloody hell. This is going to be popular. Can't see why anyone would want to be overtly filmed in Pattaya, especially a tourist. They might get something from the Expats regarding everyday life, what brought them there and how they manage day to day, but as far as the scene goes, I can't think of any good reason why someone might want to be exposed on national TV.

Well I've just this minute finished watching S01E05 of the Haunting of hill house. Half way through the one character centred episode, I started to get bored , but stuck with it and was fine until the last 15 minutes which had me in goosebumps and on edge. Mrs Butch joined me for the last half hour and was pretty uninterested, but she ran her hand over my leg and said it's all tense and hairy! Honestly, yet again this delivered tension, unexpected scenarios and some good acting. The girl playing "Nell" is exeptional in this episode as it is centered on her but she delivers the atmosphere, feeling and horror in spades. My only gripe is that the "green screen" scenes are easily spotted due to a very slight mismatch between the actor and the background, much like a superimposed image, but I think that's a fault of 4kHD rather than production itself. I'm not really looking forward to the next episode lol. Without wanting to do a series synopsis or theme (which you'll work out by Ep3 anyway) it is apparent to see which direction the storyline is going, but the way in which that story is delivered is really something else.

seriously MLC, nightime, dark alone, Add a stiff drink tho. i'm on S01 E3 and getting traumatised lol.

Right, I've a confession. following the hype I decided to watch "that haunting of Hill house" on Netflix. Being somewhat of a hard cunt, I decided to watch the first episode in the dark, lights off , alone in my house. Easy eh? You can fuck that off with a shitty stick. Half way through the second ep, alone and in the dark, Mrs butch and Jr turned up but I failed to see the car pulling up due to the curtains being closed. Butch Jr rapped on the window as she normally does and I fucking shit my pants, jumped up and shouted a few profanitites out while grabbing my remote by way of defending myself. Half way through the second episode, the lights are on, big stick to hand and half a ton of popcorn on standy. I'm 48 FFS, shouldn't be scared of a TV program, they're only actors. Trust me, this is well worth a look, if only for the clever use of cinematography and tension. Out of focus "ghosts", half expected but totally unexpected events and some very good acting makes this a must see. here be a warning: DO NOT watch with a TGF, FGF or anyone else except yourself. lights off, alone in the house is really the only way to enjoy such a series. It is very well made, very well directed will make those "goosebumps" appear. This is one of those "don't distract me by asking questions" Shows, it needs to be enjoyed alone. This is a real gem of a series, even the child actors are good for the most part, and apart from some poor animatronics (kitten scenes) it is really very very good indeed.

Might be of some use BFS (Bangkok Freight Services) - for lost luggage (provided you have reported it and filled out the relevant form at the Airport lost luggage counter) Very helpful Customer service (be polite it will get you all the help you could ever need). +66 (0) 2131 5555 - Ext. 5611, 5612, 5613, 5614 As a suggestion, maybe we could put the international "fraud" number of our Debit / Credit cards so should the worst happen we can call for free and get them cancelled. Barclays Debit Card Fraud / Cloning - UK number and then International from Mobile: Fraud relating to your Barclays debit card +44 160 452 9410 If you have a Barclays CC the number above will patch you through to the relevant dept. British Embassy BKK +66 (0) 2 305 8333 -
£26, I'd pay that. there is free food and snacks, plus bottled beer and wine available, it's probably not a bad deal considering after a few beers and a bite to eat in Fullers yoo'd be looking around the same, possibly more. I might be wrong on the drought though having looked at some pics and a youtube review, I saw two taps on the bar , why not give them a call on 0208 976 7819
-
As far as I know, no draught, only a limited selection of bottled beers like Becks etc. I've also given it some thought for the future, it's about £40 for 3 hours isn't it?.

Good link. I've read the book as well, it goes into detail about how it was done and the logistics involved were mind boggling!. Interestingly, when the idea was mooted, they were looking for a refuelling rig for the Vulcan, but they couldn't find the one they knew existed for love or money, until someone noticed that it was being used as an ashtray in an RAF Officers mess...

I work in the Port industry, for my sins over 23 years now, dealing in Cargo not pax. Let us work on the assumption that Air Cargo from the EU and shipped cargo from the EU are all subject to the same rules and regs (Customs etc). Which they are, apart from the flying hazardous shit and oxidising agents on aeroplanes stuff. Given the somewhat large numbers involved regarding revenue it is not unreasonable to assume that certain plans are being made to expedite said foreseeable problems. Streamlining the process, taking into account potential issues, checking, double checking and then checking again the potential problems, addressing problems that might not arise and even going back to the old "Trans Internationaux Routiers" or TIR system (you used to see the blue TIR plates on the front of Lorries back in the day) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TIR_Convention is a possibility as it offers an already exsisting method of transport which, with the introduction of a few new rules ratified by govt is still valid. So ,the M25 wil become a lorry park?. - No it won't. TIR rules are effectively international law, ergo an EU member state can't refuse entry even if they wanted to. We just adopt them and go back to the old method (which worked pretty well). All British planes will be grounded in the EU? - No, because by the very same reasoning that the EU would use, we would also use and effectively ground all planes from EU Countries in the UK. It's simple, if we don't meet their criteria for travel, by the very same logic, they don't meet ours, they simply cannot leave UK Airspace by way of the fact they do not meet the relevant EU criteria to fly in it. Imagine what Lufthansa, KLM, Air France et al might have to say about that, not withstanding BA is in partnership with Iberia anyway. Thus, as we, in the "cargo" trade are making such plans, it is not beyond the realms of reality to think that the airlines are doing the same thing, but with a bigger budget and with bigger amounts at stake. Given that dealing with people is somewhat slightly more complicated, it still stands to reason that there will be contingencies put in place. Can anyone honestly and truly think that UK and EU planes wil be grounded?. That's like us saying any Ship under an EU flag will be held quayside until it's sorted out. OK, let's see the reality. We hold onto the Emma Maersk , the cargo, the crew until they can leave Port under EU and agreed UK law. Fucking ridiculous. No, actually it's "ricockulous" which is a more extreme version. It won't happen, it'll never happen and anyone who thinks it will needs to get a reality check. This is my problem with remainers. Despite the largest democratic vote in the history in the UK since I was "blackballed" for the Chantry high football team, instead of saying "Ok, let's try and solve these problems now that we are stuck with it" they're saying "Let's see if we can create more problems so we can gloat some more, despite us being lumbered with it anyway". it makes perfect sense, make life difficult when you are faced with the situation regardless. I thought they were supposed to be the "intelligent" ones?.

Yep, one of her drivers picked me up on my last trip in July. Safe, responsible and overall, just the kind of stress free journey you want after losing luggage and patience with Cebu Pacific!!. A nice smile, a cold bottle of water and a chilled out, safe drive was just the tonic. It's odd that something as simple as a Taxi journey can make a difference to the trip. We always remember the bad ones, which might put a bloke on a negative vibe before he even enters funtown, which as we all know can, in a perverse kind of way, dictate our attitudes for a while. (Pattaya kind of does that to you).

They did indeed, and I'm no expert but the British Tanks were vastly outclassed by the German equivalent. The Cruisers were not reliable enough, and didn't have the penetration against the German armour, even with AP rounds, and it was really only with the introduction of the M4 Sherman , M3 Lee and the M3 Grant (the M3 Grant was a very similar tank but with a British turret) when the odds were finally somewhere near equalled. Surprisingly the M4 Sherman, most often associated with the European theatre of WW2 first saw action in North Africa in British hands. Needless to say there were a few surprised German Panzer commanders at El Alamein. I'd like to take this opportunity to say "Thanks" to the USA for all their help in WW2, otherwise we'd have been well up shit (or should that be schiesse) creek without a paddle.

OK, I know I'm a bit late, but the Queen of the Skies has recently hit her half century. Good article here, plus some period pics, my oh my, hasn't Airline travel changed in 50 years!!. https://www.treehugger.com/aviation/happy-50th-anniversary-boeing-747-it-changed-aviation-forever.html I've been lucky enough to fly on numerous 747's, a 747 SP (RFO / SOAF) , 747 200 (Pan Am) 747-300 (Qantas and SAA), 747 400 combi (EVA), Thai airways 747 "Phimara" (747 400). As time goes on there will be less and less flying commercially, at the time of writing only a few carriers operate passenger 747's out of LHR and they are currently phasing them out. Nothing quite looks, sounds or has the presence of a 747. I'll probably not have a chance to fly on one again, and I for one will really miss the buzzsaw sound of those RB211's doing the business.

Is it a direct flight KB?. My brother is moving to Sydney and we are hoping to visit next year, the thought of going direct from BKK after spending a couple of days there is appealing (it'll be cattle class though as there's 3 of us).

Hotel balcony falls - suicide or accident?
Butch replied to Yujin's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Tiled floors and water in SEA are a lethal combo. My friend smashed his rotator cuff after some rain had fallen, the driveway of his house is tiled. There are anti slip options available, but my preference is to chuck a few old towels on the floor of the bathroom and tread carefully. Even wearing flip flops can cause you to come to grief, doing the splits on a wet driveway / hallway while carrying in the shopping is no joke. As to the OP, I knew the FLB photographer (Howard) who sadly killed himself jumping from the Jomtien condo, and I also know of another guy who was found at the bottom of his hotel after jumping from the roof. As for Howards reasons, I understand he left a note. In the case of the other fellow, I'd have never thought of him as someone who would jump, he was the kind of person who faced lifes problems rather than run away or swerve them. Very odd. as usual, the verdict was suicide but it seemed odd there was little or nothing left of his personal possessions. It is all very tragic and maybe more can be done with regard to counselling / samaritans type of service in Pattaya for those facing problems, even if it is just to notify family of potential problems.
