A disturbing new trend..new to me at least
blink replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'm not saying it is right but would probably just go with the flow for NYE. A bit of foam for 1 night is surely preferable than being drenched with icy water for about a week round songkran? -
Thanks so much for all your replys guys especially Fireman Sam for such a detailed response very much appreciated. King Midas cheers for saying you noticed no discernable difference, compared to Horrible from timorno. At the moment qatar with good connection times is comming in dearer than the other 2 for my dates. Having said that probably not going to book for 2 or 3 weeks unless i see a cant refuse deal. As Jacko says would much sooner go from Manchester but i suppose at a push i could do heathrow. Nightrider why would you say that & who would you suggest? Shuttle flights at the

Hi i am looking at booking a flight Man to BKK & my options as usual seem to be Qatar , Emirates & Ethiad. After using all 3 previously i tend to prefer qatar but also have never been on a a380. Is it worth a try? Can anybody confirm that qatar 777 are still 3-3-3 rather than 3-4-3 as are emirates & ethiad? I read somewhere that they are now also 3-4-3 & skytrax etc are way out of date. My choices seem to be a couple of flights on 330 & 777 on qatar, a couple on 777 & a380 with emirates. Thanks for your help.

Thailand not really in the the same league as Spain etc on renting Villas. I have heard about the ones Martin mentioned & maybe he could get a better price (if you could find a more direct contact) Maybe do some more searching. Noticed this but never used so i cant recommend but perhaps worth a look? http://www.luxurythaivillas.co.uk/

5ive Beach House Hotel- Chomtien
blink replied to farman's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Im pretty sure its a long way down the beach rd & not near soi 1. I remeber looking into where it was a while back as it looked decent with good prices & thinking it was too far for me & i like staying in jomtien. edit: Just got a map off late rooms & it looks past soi 19 so quite a way down Jomtien beach road -
Hi Guys not kept up with this thread for a while & now back in the UK. Sticky, i prefer view talay 1 as particularly like the fact that there are bars & cafes etc easily accesible that open onto the outsideOn VT 2 they are all indoors so to me less of a community social feel. There are some nice condos in VT 2 though soit may be worth checking out both buildings to see which you prefer? Saw Ricks comments & Obviously it wasnt for him. I guess i was lucky as i got a really nicely presented well furnished room on a 2 month rental. I did see quite a few of her other rooms & t

Hi LTGTR, Thanks She doesnt have a website but that link will certainly give people ideas about the complex. I know people set up websites & maybe only have a couple of condos. I think the good thing about renting from this lady is that she has a lot of condos so far more chance of availability & certainly if you stay longish if for some reason you dont like a room or say you want something imparticular or if you prefer a high/low floor by all means you can ask to see others as i did & she will try to help. suphon cable in mine not sure if she has rooms with UBC, however

Yeah like i say i am happy with my deal, The first time i stayed here was about 7 years ago & i paid 15000 including electric & water then. I always have a look around when i arrive at different condos & i did get offered one in view talay 2 for 9000 but the electric charge was 50% higher & to be honest i actually prefer VT1 out of the 2. A friend of mine also has one here that she would of rented me for 8000 but it was being rented out. A lot of the really cheap deals get taken long term by expats & It is also very basic & on a low floor & i prefer a high floor &a

Hi All, Maybe this will be of help to anyone looking for a decent priced apartment/condo? I’m currently staying in the viewtalay 1 complex. For me its an ideal location down towards jomtien so not mad busy & a decent place to chill out but importantly on the baht bus route so very easy to get to the pattaya hot spots. A short baht bus trip or 5-10 minute walk the other way takes you down to the beach at jomtien. Its got a very good sized swimming pool, id say around 25 metres & most things you need including numerous eateries, internet cafe & bars etc including some with ladi

What Western country has the most delicious cuisine?
blink replied to jackcorbett's topic in Restaurants and food
Well i went for italian but there is good & bad in all cusine & obviously it depends on the establishment serving it. Never ate at greggs but an expat friend of mine use to swear by it 2 or 3 years ago, however the prices nowadays do seem to be a bit on the steep side. Very varied menu & they must have the biggest choice of potato varieties in Patts so kudos on that. ) Hi Jack Only thing i will say as someone who has dabbled a bit in web design is that it can be good to get a few opinions as once you get involved in a site you often get too 'close' to it & some fresh eyes ar -
Yes there are lots of them & i actually studied digital photo editing at uni for a while & when starting from scratch a lot of programs such as photoshop can be very complex. I agree with Mr Kicker & mykl & also often use the microsoft image resizer when i want to shoot of some pics in an email as its just so damn easy. Right click & away ya go Oops sorry seems i arrived almost a month late. note to self: It pays to read the date b4 posting

I did my one night there & its definately an experience, Prefer to however to stay at the dynasty (better imo) or somewhere else but go in from time to time just too samle its er 'unique' atmosphere. I got a standard room & have to say it was possibly one of the most dreary worn rooms i have stayed in but in their defence it was late & maybe the last to go? Havin said that i have seen worse rooms in the area, albeit a lot cheaper. Hey Book a night or 2 & if your not happy move on, if your satisfied extend, hey it wont kill you!!

15000 Baht for lifetime membership to Tonys seems like a really great deal.

Nice TG i barfined a few times often gave me a lift to Condo on her Bike. One time she didnt have a spare helmut & spotted Thai Police, so she drove well out of the way up the hill (Jomtien) to avoid them successfully :) She said if we had been stopped, would have to pay police man 200 baht. Im sure that was the going bribe rate?

Pete Fabulous set up you have there Im so Jealous. Im a bit of an audiophile like yourself & have also spent time in recording studios & working as a live engineer. Hey i even once wrote a college paper on psycho acoustic masking techniques!! I agree with you about mp3s but have to say i think its a bit anal or to be more polite a touch overkill having lossless in the car . In otherways though we accept what we are used to & i now have downloaded many albums that i will never buy & i guess therfore never here in their uncompressed form. Funny thing is though back in the d

Ive done both 12 hr direct & Stopover flights to various places round the world & have to say it suits me best if going to LOS from UK to have a stopover. I like to be able to stretch my legs & get off the aircraft for a while. This option is normally also a little cheaper. However if the stopover is much more than 3hrs i would have severe reservations unless a hotel room was provided. Its very much horses for courses & what suits you best though. A mate of mine much prefers direct flights.

Excellent Very Nice Humour . If you spend too mut, You could maybe earn some extra cash by doing an observational style stand up routine whilst out there.

Bangkok-The best 1000 baht hotel?
blink replied to teelack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Like others have said i dont think you will go too far wrong with the dynasty new wing. I have stayed at others but always seem to end up back there. I found a couple of ants in the room once but this can happen anywhere & i have to say the location is top notch & the staf are helpful & at least seem to know what they are doing unlike many hotels in thailand ! I think the price may have increased to 1290 now though as im sure thats what i paid last time? Last time i turned up on spec (I normally book!) about noon on a busy weekend & they managed to find me a room aft 2pm A -
After the recent break up of his marriage Sir Paul McCartney was asked if he would ever consider going down on one knee again. Sir Paul said he had no plans to but would still prefer it if we called her Heather.

Hi mate I normally Stay in Jomtien & travel back in the early hours, yeh 150 baht should cover a private hire. Or another option is getting back for 20baht if you dont mind waiting a while. You have to jump on the very rear baht bus on the rank fairly near walking st on second rd There are normally many baht buses there but the rear one always goes to jomtien & only departs when actually full of people. I used to do this all the time & very rarely had a problem getting 'home' this way even at 4am.

I flew Nok Air Bkk to Phuket & my bag was 24kgs (9kg over!) the man at checkout say in future i have to pay extra but he let me off this time. I went back with a TG however & our combined luggage was about 30kg so we had no problem. This was the only time ive been way over, although i have used Nok Air before & been at 19.5kg & got through. I think it depends on who checks you in & how they feel that day. I find a big smile may help. Was Considering trying Air Asia but as ive always been very happy with NOK decided to show some brand loyalty & their emails are rather ne
