It looks like UK banks are bigger robbing bastards than Australian banks. My bank charges $22 (~9gbp) for a transfer. Thanks for the info. I would imagine that from Australia it would take about the same amount of time.

I was wondering how long it took for money transferred from overseas to a Thai bank account would take. How long does it take for the money to become available?

Here is the size of the cocktails that you can buy (200B) from the van.. ...you can get smaller ones but why would you bother.. BTW here is Teddy making a quick get away... I agree with stinger_sd it is a great place to finish the night. There is also a van across the road where you can buy burgers and the like.

I have stayed on Soi LK Metro on my last two trips. I now really like the area but haven't done a lot of drinking there, yet. I will be staying there again on my next trip (10 days away.. ) For those who haven't been I would encourage you to go have a look. At the moment the area is quieter than others but that has its advantages. One of the things that I like is that the bars are separate so can have there own music. Also there are some very sexy ladies to be found on this soi.

I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience there. I'm not going to make any excuses for them. All I can say is that I have been to NLD1 on numerous occasions and have taken two ladies for there. I have never had any problems with either the dancers or the service ladies. I have found the service personnel to be fun and friendly. I must admit that I have never tried to pay bar for one of the service staff.

I have taken advantage of this once. One night I must have been concentrating on drinking too much. I found myself ladyless at about 1:30. I thought about my options and thought 'I wonder if that wonderful lady is still available at NLD1.' I arrived and she was still there. I thought great I'll have a couple of drinks and buy her a couple then leave after 2am. In all honesty I would have paid bar for her in any case. My point is that this offer can be beneficial to everyone. The bar benefits by selling more drinks and perhaps a small amount from the bar fine, we gain because we save a litt

Welcome to the forum mulphy. I'm a bit late posting the welcome as I was staying across the road from your place when you first posted. I will be back in Soi LK Metro next month so I'll drop by for a beer. I'll be staying across the road at The Thai Archer. BTW I visited a room of yours that another BM was staying in. The room was very large and well furnished at a good price. I'll keep it in mind for the future.

I have been to similar events at NLD1 and they are a great idea. Something that has been done before at the end of the free drinks is passing a bucket around to collect tips for the service staff. I wish I could be there..

Just a word of warning about using a thumb drive in internet cafes in Thailand. I used one and my personal computer detected a virus on it went in next plugged it in. So the advise is the standard make sure your virus detection software is up-to-date. Also I'd suggest write protecting the thumb drive before using it in an internet cafe.
