Hi mate,

I am a xxxl in Australia. Buying clothes anywhere in SE Asia is problematic. Do not take the sellers promises, or the label size, as gospel - try it on first.

BTW, there is a really recent thread re a big guys store here in Pattaya. Have a look at that.

cheap as chips! they will have practically every shape and size possible! as a rule of thumb in a market type place id offer about half of what they ask for and pay up to about two thirds of the original price! jeans (copies_) will only cost about 250-350 baht (less if you buy loads and can haggle well!) tee shirts are a couple of quis! shoes much less than blighty! and if you wanna buy genunine jeans they are about half-price or maybe less than in the uk! just go to a few shops/ stalls/ markets first and ask for prices in a few different places so you get a rough idea of the price!

Well I have to ask, with the prices as low as they are why not just use one the tailors and have them make you what you want ?

Every trip I pick a tailor walk in and order about $200.00 (US) worth of clothes and get more than enough to last me for a two week vacation (and then some) and never have to worry about finding something that fits. Hell it's one of the main reasons I come here. To tell the truth I come and drop about 10000 baht and have enough casual/semi-dressy clothes to keep my wardrobe stocked for nearly a year.

I've bought a few shirts for wearing in the evening from some of the shops on Jomtien Beach Road. In the UK, I buy medium size but here I go for XL, which are a nice, comfortable, lose fit. At 150 baht each, I don't bother bargaining though if I were buying a dozen, I might try to get a discount for bulk buying. :hairout

As for trousers, I get them made to measure but here I will do some bartering. I'll need to think about trying to get a couple of pairs made next month.

Alan,

When I left the states I brought 1 yes only 1 Pair of long pants as the only time I will ware them is when I go to the Imm to apply for the retirement Visa.

There is no place I need to go that I can't ware shorts

and come to think of it the long pants are useless to now I am sure as I have dropped 21.5 Kg and may not fit

I prefer wearing long trousers in the evening along with a Hawaii shirt. I therefore need a spare pair of two.

Agree about Immigration though - I have a couple of short sleeved white shirts (and even a tie :hairout ,) for my visit to Immigration next month to apply for my retirement visa.

Be careful of '100% cotton' shirts as they will probably shrink by HALF! :D

I recently bought two shirts at a store in Royal, after being ASSURED they won't shrink, but they've gone from a 'Large' to an 'Extra SMALL'!

My teeruk's the winner, though--two more for her :beer

take it from me, the sizes are NOT the same all over, it is best to go be measured by the tailor thats doing your clothes, I personally use Roger from Souvienur Tailors next door to the white house hotel on 2nd road , tell him Big Daddy sent you.
