Eva or Thai from Heathrow

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. First timer to Thailand in March 06. For a similar price I have found flights to Bangkok on Eva or Thai. Which airline would you choose? Also with Thai theres a choice of flying out on a morning flight arriving early morning in Bangkok. If you were using Thai what flight would you pick? Thanks.

hello im hoping to go the end of march but ive not booked yet! i normally fly with thai but in october i went with eva air! obviously with thai you have more choice of flights, the food is better with thai too, with eva air you have personal in flight entertainment (a tv screen in the back of the seat!) and you can watch any film or show or music on there whenever you like) eva uses new 777s while thai use 747s, really i dont think there is much between them (when i went with eva in october i went elite class so i cant comment on the economy seats but apparently they are as good as thais the legroom is good too apparently! so really its up to you! if the price is the same (what price did you get quoted by the way?) i guess the deciding factor for me! would be what id rather between 2 things! theses being the in flight entertainment of eva or the more frequent flights of thai! sorry if im rambling on but im hung-over!

I have used Thai on my last 4 trips. I like the day time flights in each direction. Arriving early morning gives you an extra day there. I always think that on last day I just want to get home and not hang around after being chucked out of hotel room at 12 noon. Thats why I take day flight.

Will probably use them again in MArch if the fare is good although I will only be spending about 3 days in Thailand as am going to Phils for a change of pussy.

When you arrive, are you heading for Pattaya? If so, and you don't have any problem sleeping on planes, I'd go for the evening flight.

That way you can get your sleep in en route, and you should arrive in Pattaya between 6 and 7pm. Time for a shower, a change of clothes and straight out on the town. :clueless

Cliver,

If you are happy with the evening flight then I would say it comes down to their frequent flyer programme. My own experience with Thai was that you had to book and then hope you could get an upgrade in the last couple of weeks before the flight whereas with EVA their reservation people were very helpful and would advise exactly what flights had availabilty and tie it in with your booking months in advance. Whatever one you choose, it makes sense to stick with them in the future.

My first & only trip so far was with Eva in economy. I don't like long haul flights but as a previous poster said it didn't seem like 11-12 hours, the personal entertainment thingy is great. Hollywood blockbusters, JAM films, games documentaries...all good, food was ok too.

Cardiff - Amsterdam - BKK with KLM booked for next trip tho so a good book & PSP will have to do. :P
