I have flown with both airlines and would take Etihad over Qatar airlines any day of the week :D :D :D Qatar is not worth paying more money for plus the stop over in Doha is not that great.

... And contrary to that, I have found the opposite to be the case, however Etihad was on one of those crappy old Iberian a/c they used. Biz class on both airlines.

Main thing to be wary of with Etihad, if you are flying from manchester anyway, is the stopover in Abu Dhabi. On certain days (Sat / Sun / Mon) outbound there is a 9 hour wait in Abu Dhabi and a 14 Hour wait (Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun) inbound from BKK. Those are likely to be the flights that seem to offer the best fare.

Funny cannot see any long waiting inbound or outbound on major websites with Etihad from Manchester. As an example Airline Network show :-

28th or 29th Aprl 1hr 55mins in Abu Dhabi outbound

21st or 22nd May 1hr 25mins in Abu Dhabi inbound

Cost of flights £365.00 incl tax !

It depends where you are flying from. The Gatwick and Bangkok services with Etihad seem to be excellent value for money on brand new aircraft. From Manchester to Abu Dhabi, they will use Etihad's own A330s which are around three years old.

Flying from Manchester, Qatar appears to be around 50 quid more expensive but by the time you factor in airmiles they probably work out as cheap, if not cheaper, than Etihad. As FBF pointed out the Etihad service from MAN only allows decent connections on 3 or 4 days a week and the remaining days really should discount it as an option. Certainly, in biz class from Manchester, Qatar still seems to be much better value all round.

I think the Brits are extremely lucky as the increased choice and competition between the airlines has kept prices flat but the standards have improved immensely compared to just a few years ago.

Check Etihad's website for all schedules. Second party agents often choose not to do so for commercial interests, but will inform you at a later date ! :allright

Flew with Qatar in November...very good...!!!!...short stopover.......also have flown with Etihad...with 1 hour stopover....

I would rate them both the same.......good service....trying to take business off Emirates.

Will be interesting to see how Emirates prices reflect the lost business to Qatar and Etihad ex Manchester ? At the moment Emirates continue to charge £70 to

£100 above Qatar and Etihad - How long will this last ?

Etihad........Etihad............Etihad!!!

Now they have a new fleet.......

I think Etihad has only got five new aircraft (Boeing 777) which will be used on the Gatwick and Bangkok routes. For the MAN-AUB-MAN legs it will be their current A330s that are being redeployed from the Gatwick route.

It is also worth bearing in mind that Etihad, curently, does not have a FF programme so guys who have accumulated miles with Emirates and Qatar would probably be better off sticking to those airlines for the time being. Qatar will also up its schedule to a daily service from the end of this month so both it and Emirates will have the choice and flexibility that Etihad's schedule lacks.

Cheshiretom is it worth getting a one way business class ticket from Manchester and then buying a return ticket for bkk - man - bkk as I keep seeing very good pricing from Emirates return business at 69k bht in the Pattaya mail or is there some problem in doing it this way.

All help much appreciated

Regards

Kev and Sam
