Bangkok to Samui

Recommended Posts

Hi BM's,

Just wanting some info on the cheapest way to fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui. Also if any of you have any recommendations on some hotels comparable to say Flipper House for around 2000 baht a night.

Many thanks Agent.

There is only one way to fly. BangkokAir owns the airport on Koh Samui.

Never stayed at the flipper, so can't compare.

There are loads of places to stay, book something for a night and then pick your own the next day.

Been to Phuket once. Samui twice.

I prefer Samui, but Phuket is a must see at least once. It's not a simple answer, but..

My next trip I am leaning towards Samui again. The party atmosphere in Phuket is fun though...

Shit maybe I will go to Phuket instead.. 1luv

:clueless

I'm really not much help at all :a2m

OK, Phuket is more expensive and easier to meet girls. The beach is just as nice and there are more dance clubs/freelanceres.

Samui has too many backpackers. Your first trip won't be as fun till you know the ropes

OR you can bring a g/f to Samui.

Single, first time, to go Phuket.

You ask about flights from BKK to Samui, but there is also another Airport near Pattaya called Utapao, about 40 minute drive and no crowds of people.

Obviously if your based in BKK, then BKK airport is best, but if based in Pattaya then explore the Utapao option.

Check it out on www.bangkokair.com

i will be going to phuket on 28th march for about 4 days before flying to BKK the Pats.

previously visited pkt last september.

yes it is more expensive than pattaya but has a different vibe.

still plenty of BG's and FL's to keep you happy.

great hotel is the orchid residence.

TG friendly and 100m from the bars.

I think the lucky Aussies get to fly direct to Phuket from the outback.

Well, many simply pack a cooler, harness a salt water croc and surf over on his back :banana

I looked at Air Asia for some Phuket fares and found some seemingly great fares:

O FARE Guest 288.00 THB Sat, 26/May/2007 Flight FD3021 07:15 Depart Bangkok (BKK) 8:35 Arrive Phuket (HKT)

I FARE Guest 399.00 THB Thu, 31/May/2007 Flight FD3020 09:00 Depart Phuket (HKT) 10:20 Arrive Bangkok (BKK)

But there is the added tax of 669 Baht each way, bringing the total to about 2000 baht RT. Still not too bad.

Do I need to fly the plane? Come on 288 baht is less than $10 US - even at todays shitty exchange rates. I must be missing something here.

Flown Airasia many times and never had any problem except they are quite often late. If you have a connecting flight, comong or going, especially international give yourself plenty of time for connections. This is possible as Airasia have many flights.

well i'd love to do the croc option but there is a problem.

saltwater crocs live in tropical tidal areas.

areas that are tidal dont have surf.

ergo, no surfing to phuket.... bummer

  • 3 weeks later...

The first and last flight of the day Bkk to Samui are promo 2000bht + tax, I was delayed over six hours bkk to Phuket with air asia, the taxi driver in Phuket waiting for us said it happens all the time.

Samui is for kids Phuket for grown ups, I prefer Samui by a long margin, not being either a real or pretend international jet setter

Tom

If you are still in samui on Saturday night go to the Thai lady boxing in Lamai, it is brilliant. I have been several times and never been disappointed, it is a great night.

It is advertised at starting at 22-00 but starts around 22-30, usually 6 bouts, 2 men, 3 lady and 1 katoey.

The girls fighting work at the bars surrounding the ring, so when a girl from a particular bar is fighting you can imagine the mayhem caused by her supporters who work bar.

Did you notice that USM is having a new terminal built, I took some good piccies but my SD card became corrupted.

Have a good time, by the way Choeng Mon beach is quite pleasant.

Have you been to Utapao lately? I flew to Ko Samui in February and the airport was absolutely packed with Russians (at least 200) waiting to go through baggage inspection (xray).

It was only because we were obviously going to Ko Samui that a representative from Bangkok Air escorted us to the front of the que.

Utapao is now the main entry/exit point for Russian charters.
