Going in November to Pattaya, but here's my question...looking for a nice hotel within walking distance of the main action strip. Ideally would like a place with nice rooms and no additional charges for any quests I might bring back to my room. Really don't want to spend more than 1000bht a nite. Will be there for 7days. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

I stayed at Secrets my first trip, it was 750 baht I think. It has in-room safes and I didn't see any roaches. It's on soi 14 just off walking street. My next trip I'll either stay there or the Crown Victoria on soi 6.

Stayed in the Sunshine Soi 8 last 2 years, 1st year in the older wing and this September stayed in the new one, nicer rooms in the new wing and you also have a decent sized bath, the old wing just has a useless shower that floods the whole of the bathroom. September's visit cost me 800 baht a night in the new wing, stayed there 25 nights and payed for 22 as you get 1 night free for every night you stay. Very girl friendly as they do not mind how many you take back as long as they leave ID.

The guy asked for a hotel within walking distance of the main action strip and so far everyone seems to think that everywhere but Walking Street is the location he needs. There is a hotel that you can get for under 1000 Baht right close to the main action with it's own bar on the ground floor and an Ausie member here, who can never remember what his real name is ,must be a great fan of the place as he is always promoting it and the hotel owners here as well as on other boards so it must be good. Funny but at the moment I cant remember what it is called. :Shhhhhh.!!

The guy asked for a hotel within walking distance of the main action strip and so far everyone seems to think that everywhere but Walking Street is the location he needs. There is a hotel that you can get for under 1000 Baht right close to the main action with it's own bar on the ground floor and an Ausie member here, who can never remember what his real name is ,must be a great fan of the place as he is always promoting it and the hotel owners here as well as on other boards so it must be good. Funny but at the moment I cant remember what it is called. :Shhhhhh.!!

Hilly did you read the thread before you repeated a place that was already mentioned? Secrets had already been mentioned along with the Jasmine, P-72, Diamond Beach, White Inn, and the Galaxy Suites which are all near Walking St. Some others recommended places near Soi 7/8, I guess their interputation of the "main action strip" includes more than Walking St.

With only 27 rooms, is it the reason for the name ?, it was full, for a so great location it's normal. Of course for the price some can prefer a hotel with pool, but for nightlover P72 is great. My favorite on this area is the old Midtown, 500 bahts with 2 pool, a charming hotel.

Guess I missed the post on Secrets but there are also a few mentions for the same places elsewhere. I plead a full brain and this is substantiated by the time I made the post. Galaxy is a good deal and offers decent rooms for the money but for under 1000 Baht????. I have seen the small rooms and still reckon that Serctets offers better value and 24/7 service with food available also. If you go for the Galaxy bigger suite it looks great but way over the guys budget.
