Sabai Lodge v Residence Gardens

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm coming to Pattaya in October and would like some recommendations about these two Hotels.

I've stayed at the Sabai Lodge back in 2005 and it was O.K but I understand that Standards have now gone down hill, i.e late laundry no pool side towels and room cleaning service not good plus a price Hike in the room prices. Any comments please ?

The Residence Gardens have been recommended but their do's not seem to be any recent reports, any body got any comments please ?

And for a last question any other Hotel Recommendations ( got to be guest Friendly )

Thank you inadvance

HI Crackers

I have stayed at both places between 100 and 200 nights.

Sabai Lodge is not that good anymore, but Sabai Wing and Sabai Resort has a higher standard. Its no problems with pool-towels at Sabai, but they are now closing some of the entrances at night, so you have to pass by one of the 2 receptions, if you are coming home after midnight. I stayed there 2 months ago.

RG has got 2 rooms, 2 aircons, 2 tv - its hard to beat that, specially if you have a girl for some time.

RG is much closer to Walkingstreet (walking or bahtbus) but soi 7-8 is closer to Sabai (bahtbus)

Stay both places :-) you will have a hard time finding other hotels that can compete with that price and service.

Have a good trip :-) perhaps I will see you there in july ...

Cheers

OJ

Without regard to the location

I think Scalawag puts this very well! The only critism I have heard of the The Residence Garden is the location.

I have not stayed at RG simply because of location. IMO its a Bahts bus ride to anywhere.

I would opt for Sabai Lodge, Wing, Resort or Inn. I just like being able to take a short stroll to places I like, Soi 2 bar complex, Big C, Soi 6 and its on the Baht bus route!!

I stayed Sabai Lodge 2 months ago and found it to be the same as ever. I've stayed here about 10 times in the last 3 - 4 years. The only noticable slight difference is that they do now lock some entrances late at night though this caused no probs, maybe a good thing!!

Book direct with the hotel via internet and haggle! some rooms have been refurbised in thg last few years and some have not. I last stayed at the Ruan Thai bungalow rooms previously I stayed in the Deluxe A at the big pool. I thought still good value.

I've already booked again!!

But as they say ......

Up to U hansome man!

Regards,

I agree with everything this man says! Just adding my 2p, I also stayed in Ruan Thai Bungalows at Sabai Lodge last 4 years and will return there next time. Price has crept up 100Baht each year but still good deal by booking direct and haggling. Always found them helpful and tip for Room Maid each day ensures good service IMO. Beach, Big C, 7/11, soi2+3 Bars, Classroom2 Go-Go, ATM, Soi6 and Baht bus ALL close by. And swimming pool on doorstep.

It's your choice

I have looked at this resort before. Never stayed. Have just looked at their web site. Cannot find much information regarding Ruan Thai Bungalows (see rates for Ruan Thai Villas, etc.). Cannot see any descriptions or pictures. A brief description and the prices you paid would be appreciated. I will be in Pattaya late Oct. thru most of Nov.

In room Internet is very important to me. How well does it work? Did you utilize this service or talk with other guests who had?

The rooms I refer to are the ground floor rooms around the Ruan Thai pool in a single storey building. Fairly new and nicely furnished Nice bathroom but no bath just a large shower. Each room has its on veranda with table and a couple of chairs right by the pool side. I assume they are what are called Ruan Thai Deluxe on the hotels web site(large green L shape on hotel map). I found room service, poolside service, laundry all excellent. Sorry, I don't know about in room internet. I suggest that you email the hotel and ask.

On my last trip, first 3 weeks of April 07 I had booked the Areca Lodge for a change. We all checked out of that shithole after a few days and walked into the Sabai Lodge to see what rooms they had. We got above for 1950Tbt per night. Not the cheapest rooms in the hotel but they suited us well.

Hope this helps,

Without regard to the location, The Residence Garden is the best value in a hotel in Pattaya, IMHO.

I would disagree about the best value hotel in Pattaya as I believe where I stay is the best value. The RG is 1400 a night and where I stay it is 1500 a night. The RG has a kitchen but most punters hardly utilize this feature. The RG has a pool and my place doesn't. At 1500 a night my place would come with your choice of a BBG L/T (1000) + BF (200) and room cost of 300. But if your on holiday to swim then the RG is the best value but if your here to shag then where I stay is of better value.

And where might that be?

It called Mansion 75, however that rate is the monthly rate so you need to be staying close to a month or more to be beneficial as the daily rate is I think 700. Its just off Pattaya Klang near Carrefour so your close to the baht bus route and an excellent market.

There are hundreds of places to choose from in Pattaya with new ones opening every month. One just needs to do a little exploring to find places that are of better value.

Hub,

No and no. Its a small place of about 45 rooms but very sercure and functional. It has a small balconey that has a water source and a drain so that the terack can do the laundry. A kitchen area so she can also cook and do the dishes. I'm starting to feel quilty and will begin looking for a larger place so that I can buy her a washing machine. :banana
