where to go

This will be my 5th trip to Thailand and I am a Pattaya addict I love the place.

 

Where else should I go it will only be one of the following

 

Bangkok only explored once (Nana,Cowboy,Eden,Beer Garden) even though I have been there twice.

 

Phuket explored Patong beach once Bangla road area visited the Kick boxing when I went which was excellent.

 

Chang Mai never been.

 

Any thoughts or advices would be great.

My opinion is any of them are fine, plus there are other really good places even though you have already made your "final" list.

 

Each place has its strong and weaker points, yet none of the three places you list are horrible enough to stay away from.

 

In this case, it really is

Head North or Northeast - get away from the touristy places

Well I see the English flag flying

 

So for Pattaya think Blackpool,

 

Patong on Phuket could be Brighton

 

Other coastal resorts maybe Eastbourne

 

Chaing Mai and inland cities your local county town.

 

No where is it as "in your face" hedonism as Pattaya.

Khon Kaen is my newest favorite place to be

I went to Chiang Mai last Oct to see something different & that was worthwhile for a few days.

Koh Samed- Beautiful and scenic but rather quiet. Nong Weng, Nong Khai province- no bars everything closed at 8 in the evening but a real experience. Karon beach, Phuket- excellent beach and good nightlife. Koh Samui- ok but too many young ravers, great places to eat in the fishermans village in Bo Phut. Pattaya - total head fuck, hedonism and debauchery. Saraburi, Khao Yai national park- Thai jungle experience. Udon Thani - good farang scene. THAILAND LAND OF SMILES, HOLIDAY FOR LIFE

My 5th trip is coming up and I am thinking about plucking a gal from Nana or Pattaya and head "up country" and back home. Seen a lot of pics and stories about the rural life and it sounds fascinating, if not somewhat boring in comparison. Please let us know how your trip goes

If you would like to see some of the "more real" Thailand

I can suggest doing the Elephant's Ear.

 

Head to Nong Khai and then follow the Maekong River

downstream... that, when Thailand is viewed as the

head of an elephant, is the ear part.

 

Lots of nice quiet villages and small towns along

the way. Won't find many Pattaya type bars, that is

for sure, but it is a great way to experience and enjoy

a more authentic Thailand.

The beaches on Ko Phi Phi are gorgeous. Lots of the small islands near Phuket are worth exploring.
