Good news if you can get on the A340-500. More legroom and individual IFE.

I always thought that the legroom on their 747's was pretty decent anyway, is it not something like a 34" pitch.

Are you saying that you get even more on the A340-500's ? Agree the IFE needed to be upgraded big time.

I have not used them for a few years now, but they are looking reasonable price wise for next year.

The seat pitch (not to be confused with legroom) is between 32-34 inches depending on which row you're seated in. The problem is that their seats are all of early 90s design and materials which means that the actual legroom is no better than some airlines that offer a 32" seat pitch.

They offer a 36" seat pitch in economy on the A340-500s.

Update on TG ex Heathrow

TG 916/917 daily = 747-400

TG910/911 daily from 18th Jan to 29th March = A340-600

Brown1950,

Thanks again.

As an aside, TG is also reducing it's fuel surcharge on the LHR route by over 70 USD in each direction which should knock something in the region of 100 quid off the price of a return ticket.

The A340 could be a bit of a decent buy ..........

I'm not sure if Thai's reduction in its fuel surcharge is really a price cut but there was an interesting comment in the Times yesterday that seemed to indicate that there may be some bargains coming up ......

"Those who are willing to travel to Thailand should have no problem finding a bargain, said Chris Lee, of the long-haul specialist Travelmood. “The offers are flying in, no doubt about it,” he said. “Within the next week, both Thai Airways and EVA Air will be offering significant fare reductions to complement the great hotel deals coming up.Those who are willing to travel to Thailand should have no problem finding a bargain, said Chris Lee, of the long-haul specialist Travelmood. “The offers are flying in, no doubt about it,” he said. “Within the next week, both Thai Airways and EVA Air will be offering significant fare reductions to complement the great hotel deals coming up.”

 just booked for june, west east travel £490 with thai :sosad

If Thai Airways are selling at less than 500 then you can expect non-direct operators such as Qatar/Emirates/Etihad to be selling around the 400 mark for low seaon.

Just looked on Thai for my April and July flights and they want £1000 each so looks like Emirates or EVA again
As the recession bites they will have to drop those prices. The weak £ isn't doing you any favours though. Look for deals on BA! Stay clear of Easter in April (12th) Edited by jacko

Front page last nights London Evening Standard-

AIRLINES CUT TICKET PRICES TO '80's LEVEL.

It was BA and VS LHR- JFK, DEL, CCU, BOM, so not much use here. Could be the start though.

Something has to be reduced- price or flights, let's hope its the former.

  • 4 months later...

Haven't had the booking confirmed yet but hopefully flying Thai LHR to BKK on 7 July, returning 23 July. GBP488 with West East Travel.

Has anyone had any bad experiences with West East. They seem to be considerably cheaper than Travelocity and Opodo - and usually you don't get something for nothing!!

West East are best IMHO, always use them and can't be beaten on price. they are partners with Thai Air. Just check things like flexibility of ticket/refund details as this can be pricey if not discussed first as sometimes an flexible fare can only cost an extra £20 or so.

Don't worry about them, they will look after you in regards of best price.

What does "partners with Thai Air" mean, other than displaying their logo on your website? Thai Airways doesn't list West East Travel as one of its partners. :thumbup

Just to warn anyone that has booked with Thai Airway LHR-BKK or BKK-Lhr, they are cancelling many flights in June due to very low load factors. I can see their point, it's stupid for them to run 2 less than half full flights a day when they can just combine them into one flight. I know the flight I was due to go on the 17th June in the evening has been cancelled, and am now rebooked on the morning flight the next day. I know they are running morning flights only on 17th, 18th and 19th June, and apparently there are many other cancellations throughout the month. So check with Thai reservations to make sure your flight isn't one of them.

Personally have never had a problem with them and must have had 100+ tickets for myself, family and friends.

They are certainly not partners of Thai International, but always ask for a price over the phone as last couple of years has been consistently less than using their website.

Just my experience.
