Topping up Thai mobile from the west

Recommended Posts

My Thai phone is about to run out in March. Rather than lose the number, I would prefer to try to extend the expiry date. I dont think getting a TG to text me a top up card number would work as the phone is in the UK. Anyone sussed out how to do it yet? Thanks.

I don't know if it will help in yr situation but i topped up my phone the other day because it was so low it wouldn't even receive text messages but i had bought some top up cards before i left pattaya .Maybe u could get someone to buy a you a card , get them to scratch the pin and send /email u /text u the pin number which u punch in and that should top u up (did with 123 anyway).

Check whether you have international roaming enabled first. Put the SIM in an unblocked phone and see if it can get onto a network. If it doesn't, sorry...end of my knowledge.

If it does, do a balance check to see if that works.......

If so, now you need a top up card. Send £1000 to my Paypal account and I will toddle off the 200m to the 7-11 and buy you a 100 baht one, and PM you the number!

Thanks for the replies.

Dont think it has international roaming. Reverts from 1 to call to T Mobile when I get back to the UK. Anyone remember how you top up by text? Is it .......... 120* the top up number* ...... ?

*120*PIN#TALK

It's not international roaming in the US either on the TMobile network as you can't call out, but topping up doesn't count as a phone call. I've done it in the US no prob. I've also had the seller transfer credit to my number.

Yes well it would hardly get onto 1-2-Call network in the UK.

As I said try a balance check...*121#

To top up....*120*#

Someone above suggests that the SIM will still work after the balance has expired, but that would depend on the timeframe... the number might get reclaimed.

:clap2 Well done that man. The balance check worked. Will ask a TG to send me a 100bht number and that should add a month :D .
There may also be an alternative method whereby you can add money to any Thai number via a Thai bank ATM (as I can do from my HSBC ATM,in the UK, just have to put in the UK phone number). I heard this mentioned once, but when I tried to investigate on the AIS webpage, I'm afraid my lack of the Thai language, stopped me.

Now get yourself off to bed!
