Should be ok if its part of the Ibis chain. Reasonable price for Bkk nowadays. Thanks for sharing.

I'm here to serve. <grin

I figure whatever you save on accommodations can be better spent elsewhere.

Thanks for the post. Found the web site. It looks brand new or remodeled? The big question remains how far down Soi Nana.

Going to figure that out now.

Nok

Called the property. The say 500meters from Sukhumvit, and before Omni complex.(which is too far!)

To book directly with them, want 1200baht a night all inclusive but no breakfast.

There is a rate of 850baht plus plus(total of 1000baht) on the web site but must pre-pay and no changes. Pre pay 1000baht or book without guaranty 1200baht....the decisions we must make in life.....

To be continued.....like what I see so far.

Above is the location of the hotel. It appears it is a new property, not remodeled but I'm not sure.

I think I'll give it a go and will post a review here.

Thanks for the post LTGTR. I didn't see your post until after I made my new topic. This is what the internet used to be about, sharing information and experiences. Now of course, marketing of bars and other such bullshit has taken over most of these forums.

Take care and Cheers.

Well the Nana hotel is charging 1490 baht for a cockroach infested room, with no modern shower (you need to keep turning the hot and cold water taps to get the temperature right) and no in-room safe....

That Nana Hotel is something else. I went there first time in the 80s! Back then it seemed a bit tatty, but everything was reasonable.... I quit using it when they started charging more for a beer in the coffee shop than over the road in a GO-GO.

That cofee shop, spent a good afternoon in there once, girls sat all over the place, off up to the room.. back down to get another and a beer..... great way to kill time to an evening flight!

Well overdue for the wreckers ball........

I was concerned about the bathroom at these mini Ibis places but after just seeing the one they have in Phuket, I am no longer worried.

For sure they are prefabricated but thankfully larger than the Japanese ones.

Shower was in the apex of the unit and very small but manageable.

TV was a Samsung LCD but only about 21", seemed very small.

Overall, I think that if you want to spend lots of time in your room apart from sleeping or shagging then perhaps this is not the right place. But if you want newish things, clean, and don't mind it being quite small, then why not. Great value.

Just finished a short stay at the IBIS. I'll do a brief review despite being an American.

The rooms are small, but new and fine.

If you are an American, call it a Motel Six quality wise. Cheap furniture but comfortable. The beds are find.

No sprayer for your Euro freaks.

The cable TV is good. A flat screen but that not a big deal, only saves space. Nothing special about the picture.

The bathroom is fine, again, all of this your basic "BUDGET" quality.

Expensive internet in the lobby. 100baht for one hour. Good service, but not Pattaya prices.

They have a lounge and resturant, didn't try either.

In room hot water, instant coffee and tea.

Many rooms have no view.

ALL the rooms are no smoking but some guests cheat on this rule.

Lobby itself very nice, well appointed.

No hassle with guest. Brought in one ladyboy and two freelancers picked up off the street. No hassle, no ID bullshit for the weak. The rooms have an electronic safe which I didn't use. I prefer to just chain and lock my guest to the bed. Never do long either. You get the point.

The location is right next to the Omni, a short walk but a walk to Sukhumvit. Good location overall all things considered.

The guest are mixed, some couples etc.. Not a lot of ladies or ladyboys trickle in or out. Security is present but keeps a distance as should be he case.

At the current prices of 850-1000baht plus 17% tax and service, I can reccomend this property.

Bangkok losing its allure for me but as far as hotels go within the price range, a great deal.

Cheers.

Thanks for the review, Nok. However, could you explain the above two remarks, please. And what is a "sprayer"?

Many here in Pattaya have a distinct disdain for Americans. We know nothing, do too much, take too many showers, wear clean clothes and brush our teeth after meals. We think of those who think they know it all, do nothing, rarely bath, wear the same clothes for days, and never brush their teeth as "freaks". These folks seem to come from Europe. However, the freaks did invent the "toliet sprayer" which is pictured below and in most hotels here, but NOT in the IBIS reviewed.

Cheers mate. Nok

Excellent review-Motel 6 works for me often times-especially when I'm on a motorcycle trip for 2-3 weeks.Just a clean room and shower. And theh Weather Channel for the next day's wx.And Motel 6 has washers and dryers too!

Glad it worked for you.No need for the 'Bidet on a hose",though.

Laundry is a complete rip off all along Soi Nana and Sukhumvit. A huge problem. Never have found a coin laundry, which BTW are becoming more and more common in Pattaya.

There is a joint on Sukhumvit Soi 8 where they do a load for something like 90baht. A SMALL LOAD and no dryer or ironing. I has an internet cafe attached, a great concept if were only reasonable! Shit.

It is very frustrating. If anyone knows of a reasonable laundry any place along Sukhumvit in this general area please post. The "least" expensive I found was a small place over by one of the Orchid places behind the new Grand sometihng Soffitel. Even there, not fair. 50baht a kilo. A kilo is one pair of shorts, socks, and a tee shirt!

Nok :banghead Who wants to pay 50baht to wash an iron a 100baht tee shirt!

Around that hotel I think the general price for laundry is Bt80 to Bt100 a kilo.

I know the place you are on about on the right hand side up Soi 8.

Some hotels have washing machines in their rooms if you are so inclined.

IMHO Ibis hotels are shit based upon one time experience here in Australia.

Was put up at Ibis Homebush Bay a couple of years ago for a conference in Sydney. Exterior and foyer were fine but just a front for the worst, dirtiest and lack of amenities hotel room I have ever stayed in.

Never get me again no matter where.

Near to Nana Plaza, all the well known hotels charge from 1500 baht up per night....Majestic Suites, Dynasty Inn, etc. Even the shitty Nana Hotel charges 1490 baht minimum.

Considering that I pay 600 - 800 baht on accommodation when I am in Pattaya then I am losing the best part of 1000 baht a night when staying in Bangkok instead of Pattaya.

This IBIS at 1000 baht could a welcome cheap alternative. IBIS hotels in Europe tend to always have a minimum standard of design. They are basic but clean.

I am tired of wasting my money on accommodation given that I come to Thailand to spend lots of money on P4P and not hotels.

The only question that I am not sure about is how long roughly it would take to walk from the IBIS to Nana Plaza - I don't want a girl that I have picked up in Nana complaining about walking a long way in her heels.

If lady you pick up in the Nana area complains about the walk, tell her to get fucking lost. She has a piss poor attitude. If it is a lady you have paid a barfine for and agreed to over pay her as is the norm in Nana Plaza itself, tell her to shut the fuck up or give you the barfine money back. If it is a lady/ladyboy you have picked up in Thermae or that area, I do recommend you simply cross Sukhumvit and indeed take a taxi back to the hotel, having him turn left on Soi Nana and proceed to the hotel. Same with Soi Cowboy or Soi 33. Taxi back.

As for the walk itself, I'm lazy and it isn't that big a deal. No worries really mate. Some lady complains, she is a BITCH and get rid of her quick mate, and get your barfine back from HER or take her phone. Honest.

Cheers.

Some hotels have washing machines in their rooms if you are so inclined.

I've done that, believe it not, ONLY in Bangkok! Nothing wrong IMHO with buying a 20baht sleeve of detergent and hand washing a few shirts, socks, and shorts/slacks. Hang dry and with the AC dehumidifying your room, clothes will be dry in the morning. BTW, most of the washing machines are simply sloshing the water around, not American quality. Some here are however "above" such chores but IMHO why spend 200-300baht on just a few items. Never under estimate the willingness of people here in Thailand to rip you off. Never. Just talked with a guy who paid 1200baht for a taxi to Nana Hotel from the airport, his first visit. Nok :D

Then why mention it at all, not that you would have tried anything better.

I always stay at the Ibis Hotel in Sydney before I fly out to LOS, have found the service and rooms excellent.

Never stayed in the Ibis Bangkok so can't compare.

I mentioned it because some of it is shit, other is good. Had a bad Aussie steak in the New York Steakhouse at the Marriott in Bangkok. Had a good one at a mates condo in Pattaya. He brought me another excellent one from Australia. Some average purchased here from Central Festival.

All American beef on the other hand, is good to excellent and all Thai beef has been bad to uneatable. Nok

Nah, my experience is that the places which are either serviced apartments or have such apartments attached to the hotel, will have a decent US / Euro style washer drier which will heat the water from the cold or has a dual hot / cold intake. Some even have soap powder in the room gratis.

I wouldn't bother except for perhaps two instances. Firstly when you are looking at a quick turnaround prior to check out or whatever or for the undies and the no iron stuff. Chuck it on when you are in the room and you're sorted an hour or two later.

Not a deal breaker or maker for me but useful in certain places and at certain times. Far better than the hotel rip off prices.
