Thanks for sharing. Worth a look, but the thing that puts me off houses is all the bars you need on the windows. Seems safety is a big issue.

Should not put you off ,most new houses in Thailand have bars at windows ,even my house in Khon Kaen has

bars and it feels very safe here

They look ok. They look decorative. I saw a house on the DS Pattaya for rent online and the guy had put the bars on the inside. Apart from looking terrible, it drove home how people have almost made a " bunker" out of their homes. The UK isnt exactly safe, but bars on windows are very rare.

Is there a burglary problem in KK?

Soi Khao Talo is not the safest of places in Pattaya and i would NOT drive on my motorbike at night up there.

There are many farangs living that part of Pattaya and no doubt will deny this.

Where is safe in the world these days?

I used to have that narrow minded view that the darkside had scary monsters that came out at night who liked to eat falangs, also all thai people who lived there carried guns and rockets launchers.

This is just pure crap. After living there for just over a year I can honestly say it is probably safer and more community orientated than most areas around Pattaya.

There are more muggings, robberies and weapon crime in Pattaya, escpecially around 3rd road at night time than in my neighbourhood.

I have been here 6 years mate and it can be dangerous if you are on a motorbike at night, more so than some areas.Plenty of drugs being sold and plenty of thai gangs too.

Did some Police chiefs wife not get robbed at gunpoint in the DS? And there were so many gunpoint robberies in peoples houses that they were warning people to take extra care.

KK Im sure have fair share as any where in the world, but I fell very safe living here.

Another reason for bars, is windows are left open to allow some cooling wind in the house

Bars are rare in UK but I have seen complete shutters locked covering all the windows

We are talking about khao talo not england or 3rd road,as the house for rent is there.I dont give a flying if people dont agree but ask many thais especialy women and ask them if soi khao Talo is safe.I do agree that the roads are better and more lit than a couple of years ago but i would not live there personaly,up to me.

Ive had a house in soi Khaotalo (eagmongkon 4) for about 5 years now. Fair enough I only spend a month or two every year there,but.......... Ive seen no more trouble there than in most other places in Patts? (bearing in mind I feel far safer in Patts than I do in Wales!

For our colonial friends! Wales is a small country next to England!! lol!

As an aside , whenever ny home in the UK is empty (even for 30 bleeding minutes!) EVERY! door window etc etc is locked! Alao when I had the house built I paid extra for my bars on the window. Purely for safety! just as I wear a crash helmet and a condom! purely for safety! lol!

Hi Chaps,

Just to quickly add to saftey discussion on above subject, you wil find most of the properties are on gated villages and have security guards to main entrances (wether effective or not) and there is mix of thais and farangs living in these villages.

A Police box is outside Eakmongkol 4 too with daily patrols as theres lots of traffic up there now.

Theres a lot of housing estates up on DS as thats where most Ex Pats live.

Agreed nowhere is 100% safe but you can always read about weekly muggings/ beatings/ deaths from thais and farangs who are based nearer the 3rd/ 2nd road and beach rd part of town.

Those in the know and live there most of the year, live up there and surrounding areas too.

Cheers

plus there is a 7/11 right outside there too! Plenty of bars banks shops etc as has already been mentioned. It take s me about 10 or 15 minutes to get to say Soi Diana from there, (by bike!) and a motorbike taxi usually costs me 60 or 70 baht into town!
