It's not nice to pixx on your parade, and I hope you do well, and it sounds like a very good deal, well-thought out.

BUT

If you have a one-drink minimum, then it is NOT all you can eat for 99 baht - it's all you can eat for 134 baht - for which you get a set menu and a glass of soft drink.

There aren't many places give you a free glass of water in Pattaya Joe.

And some want 120 baht for a little bottle of beer, a price that should include dancing girls!

I'm not kvetching about the price in any manner. I'm registering a small complaint about the advertising. It doesn't pass the truth test, sorry. You MUST spend 134 baht. I'd gladly do that, too, for the meal described.

Actually, you MUST spend ฿129. ฿99 + ฿30 = ฿129, not ฿134.

Hmmm. Okay, thanks. I'm pretty sure that said 35 baht for a soft drink when I wrote my first post, but could be me misreading.

Let's get pedantic and involve semantics.....

It says all you can eat, for 99 baht.

That which you have to drink is extra....;)

Aren't you a lawyer???

Oh, I see. You missed the point.

The point is you MUST buy one drink if you eat, and you will be charged for that drink. The drink is part of the meal. So you can't get out of the restaurant for 99 baht, unless it's nothing.

Aren't you a lawyer???

Jeez, jacko, what the hell did I do to deserve that?

In the Thai " All you can eat" places I have eaten at they have two price structures . For empty plates and plates with left overs so you could have:

99Baht if the plates are empty or 110Baht if food is left over on the plates...Stops people having eyes bigger than their bellies...

I actually sort of like this idea, although you'd never sell it in Thailand, where it's one of those cultural things to leave food - which is why the salad bar at the very few places that have free salad bars (Sizzlers, say) are set up with teensy bowls, for example.

This idea has been done before (eat-alls etc).....and it didnt pay. What tends to happen is the quality of the food starts off great and then as the owner doesnt see the profits they want, they tend to slowly bring the quality down until word gets round and noone eats there.

The only eat-all thats seems to work is the korean buffet cook-yourself type. Even these make their money on their over-priced drinks/water/ice scam.

It was a regular theme around Soi Rangnam in BKK for the few years I lived there..Perhaps they have all gone out of business now the place has gone up market..

Update. When I walked in, there was only one customer, not much of a grand opening I thought. I saw lots of people stop and read the sign's on the front, and then walk in. By the time I left it was 2/3 full. This is a nice place. Air-con, clean, nicely decorated, very comfortable chairs, good music video's playing and they were not for 20 somethings and so loud ya can't talk, just good background music. Food was good, and a value. I had one problem, my bill seemed high when I paid it, so I asked again to see it again, the staff talked about it for a couple of minutes and then brought me out 99 bht with an explanation that they thought my girlfriend had eaten two meals, one Thai meal, and an all you can eat meal.

I will go back again, and may even become a regular if the other meals are as good as the one I had. There were only 6 Thai dishes, but my girlfriend said it was a good selection.

I also had a nice pizza dinner tonight. Will go back for sure. How many other restaurants do you already plan well in advance to visit just to see how the food will taste on different nights? The pizza dough was very thick but I expect the recipe will change as time goes on. When it's all you can eat, the owners obviously wants to fill you up as soon as possible.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just got back from lasagna night. Cheese, chicken, or beef. I had 1 of each and a refill of chicken. Each serving is just so unbelievably huge. Delicious and stuffed all for 99 baht + drink.
