Hi All you may know I am planning a trip to Pattaya in Feb 2010 -

A quick Q. I have found a flight for Qatar for £377 return from London Gatwick to Bangkok via Doha.

My question is - are the following times sensible? My concern is the transfer time in Doha is quite short.

e.g. Gatwick to Doha (arrive: 1815)

next flight is Doha to Bangkok (at 2030)

Similarly on the return: Arrive at Doha 2355 , next flight at 0105.

I have heard things about this airport like how long it takes to get off the plane in to the terminal building so I'd appreciate some feedback from experienced travellers to let me know if perhaps I should be looking at slightly longer transfer times.

Also is the £377 a good price for Feb or am I likely to find a better price if I wait a bit longer?

Thanks in advance for any info.

hi mate

beem with qatar many times, dont worry about transfer times i think you very lucky

with those times, doha is a shit airport no bars and very few shops, when you got off the plane in doha

just go to your boarding gate then fly to bkk,377 pounds very good price it may come down about 20

pounds but 377 is a very good price and i would book it now

Thanks guys.

Would I have to collect my checked suitcase and then re-check it for the second flight or would it be automatically transferred at Doha?

thanks.

Automatically transferred.

Just a point for you to think about as you seem to be quite new to all this. I've seen people being really concerned if the first leg of the journey is delayed a little. Relax. It's not uncommon and the airline will generally take care of you. If there are quite a few passengers on the first leg who are transferring to the same second leg, they will often hold the second flight and your luggage will get there too.

I used them once never again the second part of the flight was delayed by 17 hours.

PS there was a bar when I was there but in the 17 hours it never opened.

Not a good delay admitted but it happens with all airlines from time to time ?

I thank you also for that good info.

Like 00mic I have booked roughly the same flight with Qatar but LHW - Doha - BKK with about the same transfer times,

Nice to know its not a rush job at Doha.

I assumed the luggage was automatically transferred but it was nice to see another poster (jacko) who confirmed it, tks.

cheers rogero :kissing

I am completely pissed at your great deal (£377).

I also booked with Qatar a few months ago with what I thought was a bargain but at about £70 more than you have got !

Don't wait to gain a few £, you've already got a good deal.

When I was in the M.Navy (30 years) all my flights were booked at the office (HK) and all I had to do was turn up at the local airport & pick up the tickets.

Now I realise what a hassle it is going DIY & searching for a bargain !

Off course my (HK) shipping company had a few advantages such as having their own travel agents & a little outfit called Cathay Pacific.

Have a great trip in Feb & if you see a drunken irish beggar hanging about the street corners please consider donating a few Baht.

It could be me having missed my flight home !

BTW I have noticed Villa Youth has slipped between my posts (hope I phrased that correctly).

Should I be concerned ? I am out of his age group but he doesn't seem to have any/many limits !

cheers rogero :D

I knew you would respond in your usual style.

You are so f***ing outrageous which is why so many BMs enjoy your patter.

I think once you get over your shyness & embrace more with fellow BMs you will be accepted more (just being ironic)

Looks OK the shorter the time in Doha the better.

Not a good transit area to spend a lot of time in.
