My luggage was broken into during the stop over on one of Gulf Air's flights and a valuable item stolen. I got no compensation from Gulf Air.

I was also bumped off another flight of theres, even though I arrived in time for the flight. Meant that I missed a whole day in Thailand.

So never again!

I have flown Jet Air for internal flights in India and that has put me off going international with them. Poor food and lots of smelly passengers.

That was the thing that most concerned me about Jet, the india thing without sounding racist i find that many of them dont give of the right body odour too be shacked up with on a plane for however many hours! Not saying everyones like that mind you but some really do stink!

Used Jet Air twice, no problem at all. Short stop over and certainly better than Gulf

I had this choice for my Xmas flight based on cheapest available (Air India also featured). I booked Gulf before Jet because -

1. Jet use B777 from LHR then B737s for BKK leg, Gulf use A330 then A340 (both wide-bodied)

2. Jet pilots have recently been on strike, possible further disruptions?

3. Stopovers are similar but would prefer 2 x 6 hour flights via a Gulf state than 7.5 then 4.5 via Mumbai

GR.

Slight misrepresentation. Going via the ME is out of the way. Flight time London to Bahrain is normally 7-7.5 hours. Bahrain onward to Bangkok about 7 hours. Sometimes you might do better with a tail wind.

When I flew with Gulf Air, I went via Muscat in the ME and it was 7.5 hours to Muscat but only 6 hours plus about 10 minutes from Muscat to Bangkok

Yes over 13 hours, not 12... a little longer than flying times via Mumbai. That was my point, you didn't really dispute or contradict that.

I thought Gulf normally went via Bahrain, but wouldn't Muscat be more of a negative? Last time I went there it was a horrible little airport. Some years ago though. We often made jokes about Gulf Air (again ages back) as they seemed to stop off at various Middle Eastern places picking up and dropping off like a bus service. :D

No, I am not really disputing your times but just quibbling that it is closer to 13 hours rather than 14...so no big deal anyway.

I flew twice with Gulf Air - the first time through Bahrain and second through Muscat.

All the airports, with the exception of Abu Dhabi I found particulary soul destroying. After an hour in Doha you start running out of things to do or see and Muscat is so small that it is difficult to find any spare seats and there are no decent places to eat - a 5 hour stopover there would be the equivalent of a prison sentence!

I flew with yet from BKK to London a week ago. The first leg the seats are too small for my liking but the 777 is fucking brilliant. Economy class seats were perfect and so was the food and inflight entertainment. Only annoying thing was the high level of security at Mumbai airport but thats to be expected after all the recent terrorist attacks in the region. In my opinion Jet aiways is proper value for money

The curries on Jet seemed quite fresh, authentic and generous. Yes Mumbai / Bombay is a dump with a fair internal walk and security procedure. I slightly prefer the cleanliness of Qatar, Etihad, Gulf or Emirates, then you can also factor in convenience of timings and cost...
