Honesty at the Residence Garden

Recommended Posts

Just got back from 2 weeks staying at the Residence garden.

I've stayed there 6 times now and always enjoy it.

On this trip I bought a couple of watches from Sarah - a Rolex Oyster and an Omega Professional better quality ones that cost 4K Baht total.

When I got back to the UK I couldn't find them and couldn't remember packing them. :D

I emailed the RG to see if they had found them but didn't really expect any joy but within an hour I had a reply saying they had found them :D As a mate of mine was still there they gave them to him and he brought them back to the UK for me.

Thumbs up for the honesty of the staff at the Residence Garden.

You were ripped off when you paid 4K for two watches.

Yep been staying at the RG since my first trip and have always enjoyed it there. One of the best things about the place is the staff is always friendly and willing to help.

Depends on the quality Grandpa, depends on the quality...Anyway, what where we talking about before... Oh yea, sorry about that (shhh...he's a bit daft).

Residence Garden: It's gotten to the point where I rarely lock anything up when I stay there, unless of course I'm out for the night and bringing home guests. Probably stupid of me, but cameras, cell phones, laptop, ipod, all get left out in the open and I don't worry a bit till evening rolls around. Not smart I know, but the place is like home.

First off, do you have to Hijack every thread with your opinions about shit that barely pertain to the subject? He was not asking for your opinion on his purchase.

Second of all, I am far from a knockoff expert, but even at this distance I can tell that you do not have a fucking clue of what you are on about. Google it.

Anyway, back to the Residence Garden...

I hate to break this to you but you need to go back and read the OP. Since this is an opinion forum, I offer my opinion. Once again I have to agree with you. Your far from a knockoff expert.

Considering the maid service is contracted out and they are not employees of the hotel, you've been lucky.

I once made the mistake of opening the safe with the maid in the room. She was supposedly making the bed, but out of the corner of my eye I could see she was actually watching me punch in the combination to the safe. I changed it as soon as they left. Nothing went missing, but why take the risk. They work as a team, btw. As many as 3 or 4 can be in your room at a time.

How common is the practice of contracting cleaning staff?

After I had decided that I didn't want to buy a fake, the lady went down to 1000 baht for the best quality fake that she had.

There are only about three makers of watch movements in the world today. Unless a watch has diamonds, gold or other precious metals in it, there is no reason for any watch (except special dive watches) to cost more than 1000 baht.

Not necessarily, if good copies 2k is a good price. You can get copies that are almost 10k, depends on the quality.

:-

Regarding Residence Garden this topic show was a good place it is with honest staff, my Dad and Cousin are booked in there for 3 weeks from tuesday.

I know where to get great copies for under 2k but a top copy with real swiss movement, stainless steel strap etc and sapphire crystal glass will cost more.

Look at the top of page and you might notice you are in the "Hotel and Accommodation Questions" section.

I can show you a knockoff piece of shit Chinese made novelty that one would wear as a joke and might not make the plane ride home. Or, I can show a variety of quality made replicas that (depending on your budget) may have Swiss made works and a Rolex pro might not be able to tell it's not a US$30,000 watch till he gets the back off, and even then he might be willing to repair it.

Just as in Hotels and guest houses, your idea of value is many peoples idea of crap. I would not stay in your often hawked guest house for free, that's a fact. I pay a bit of a premium to stay at a place that I enjoy. That's a fact. Saying someone got ripped off when you have no idea of what they purchased is just like, well, just like BigDUSA.

Way to fuck a positive thread.

More bad info from you, BTW. Sara has the cheap ones also, but there is clearly a difference in quality in some of the higher priced knock offs and the joke of a rolex you buy on soi 7 for 800 baht.

You really are a fountain of bad information. :clueless

The owner told me the maid service is contracted out.

I asked his son also who manages.

Doesn't matter at the end of the day as they seem very honest which is good.

:nod

I think somebody is a little bit paranoid. Do you think that they might be working for Bill Gates, Samsonite? :P

Cute. If they worked for gates then there would definitely be a problem. :banghead

With the experiences I've had in the land of smiles, lies, scams, and copies, I would say a little paranoia is not only warranted, but necessary if one doesn't want their trip to become an unpleasant "adventure."

By "little paranoia" I mean things like not leaving valuables lying around in your hotel room when you are not there or when you have a "guest," keeping an eye out for pickpockets on the baht bus, checking your bin to make sure the your favorite bartender isn't stuffing your cup, etc, etc. etc.
